Greek - Matthew 5:17-18 - English
μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον καταλῦσαι τὸν νόμον ἢ τοὺς προφήτας οὐκ ἦλθον καταλῦσαι ἀλλὰ πληρῶσαι 17 Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν ἕως ἂν παρέλθῃ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ ἰῶτα ἓν ἢ μία κεραία οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου ἕως ἂν πάντα γένηται 18 For amen I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall certainly not pass from the law, till all becomes fulfilled.

Greek - John 17:4 - English
ἐγώ σε ἐδόξασα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς τὸ ἔργον ετελείωσα ὃ δέδωκάς μοι ἵνα ποιήσω 4 I have glorified you on earth: I have finished the work which you gave me to do.

Greek - John 19:30 - English
ὅτε οὖν ἔλαβεν τὸ ὄξος ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν τετέλεσται καὶ κλίνας τὴν κεφαλὴν παρέδωκεν τὸ πνεῦμα 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the spirit.

Note: The argument here is that as Jesus has already fulfilled the law for us, we do not now have to keep the law. So let us ask the questions. Does that mean that we can have other Gods before God? Does it mean that we can make carved images, take the name of the Lord in vain, dishonor our father and mother, kill people, commit adultery, steal, lie, and covet? Of course not, and neither does it mean that we can break the Sabbath commandment. Jesus has fulfilled as much of the law as was expected of him at his first coming, and having given us his example we are now meant to fulfill the righteousness of the law:

(Romans 8:4) "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

How can we fulfill the righteousness of the law without keeping the ten commandments, when the psalmist said, "for all your commandments are righteousness" (Psalm 119:172)? Jesus has not changed (Hebrews 13:8), and he now lives in all true believers.

(Romans 8:9) "Now if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his."
(1 Corinthians 13:5)
"Do you not know your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except you are unapproved?"
(Galatians 4:6) "God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

Therefore, as he has not changed he must be trying to fulfill the law through us, and we are meant to be like Jesus (See #1.24 Note 1). The fact that Jesus has fulfilled the law then proves nothing against our keeping the Sabbath day. This bible study shows that Jesus fulfilling the law is no excuse for not keeping the Sabbath day commandment.
