2 Peter 1:1 Simon Petrus, servus et apostolus Jesu Christi, iis qui coæqualem nobiscum sortiti sunt fidem in justitia Dei nostri, et Salvatoris Jesu Christi. 2 Peter 1:1 simwn petroj douloj kai apostoloj ihsou xristou toij isotimon hmin laxousin pistin en dikaiosunh tou qeou hmwn kai swthroj hmwn ihsou xristou 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
1:2 Gratia vobis, et pax adimpleatur in cognitione Dei, et Christi Jesu Domini nostri: 1:2 xarij umin kai eirhnh plhqunqeih en epignwsei tou qeou kai ihsou tou kuriou hmwn 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
1:3 Quomodo omnia nobis divinæ virtutis suæ, quæ ad vitam et pietatem donata sunt, per cognitionem ejus, qui vocavit nos propria gloria, et virtute, 1:3 wj panta hmin thj qeiaj dunamewj autou ta proj zwhn kai eusebeian dedwrhmenhj dia thj epignwsewj tou kalesantoj hmaj dia dochj kai arethj 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

1:5 Vos autem curam omnem subinferentes, ministrate in fide vestra virtutem, in virtute autem scientiam, 1:5 kai auto touto de spoudhn pasan pareisenegkantej epixorhghsate en th pistei umwn thn arethn en de th areth thn gnwsin 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
1:6 in scientia autem abstinentiam, in abstinentia autem patientiam, in patientia autem pietatem, 1:6 en de th gnwsei thn egkrateian en de th egkrateia thn upomonhn en de th upomonh thn eusebeian 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
1:7 in pietate autem amorem fraternitatis, in amore autem fraternitatis caritatem. 1:7 en de th eusebeia thn filadelfian en de th filadelfia thn agaphn 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
1:8 Hæc enim si vobiscum adsint, et superent, non vacuos nec sine fructu vos constituent in Domini nostri Jesu Christi cognitione. 1:8 tauta gar umin uparxonta kai pleonazonta ouk argouj oude akarpouj kaqisthsin eij thn tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou epignwsin 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:9 Cui enim non præsto sunt hæc, cæcus est, et manu tentans, oblivionem accipiens purgationis veterum suorum delictorum. 1:9 w gar mh parestin tauta tufloj estin muwpazwn lhqhn labwn tou kaqarismou twn palai autou amartiwn 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
2 Peter 1:10 Quapropter fratres, magis satagite ut per bona opera certam vestram vocationem, et electionem faciatis: hæc enim facientes, non peccabitis aliquando. 2 Peter 1:10 dio mallon adelfoi spoudasate bebaian umwn thn klhsin kai ekloghn poieisqai tauta gar poiountej ou mh ptaishte pote 2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
1:11 Sic enim abundanter ministrabitur vobis introitus in æternum regnum Domini nostri et Salvatoris Jesu Christi. 1:11 outwj gar plousiwj epixorhghqhsetai umin h eisodoj eij thn aiwnion basileian tou kuriou hmwn kai swthroj ihsou xristou 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1:12 Propter quod incipiam vos semper commonere de his: et quidem scientes et confirmatos vos in præsenti veritate. 1:12 dio ouk amelhsw umaj aei upomimnhskein peri toutwn kaiper eidotaj kai esthrigmenouj en th paroush alhqeia 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
1:13 Justum autem arbitror quamdiu sum in hoc tabernaculo, suscitare vos in commonitione: 1:13 dikaion de hgoumai ef oson eimi en toutw tw skhnwmati diegeirein umaj en upomnhsei 1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
1:14 certus quod velox est depositio tabernaculi mei secundum quod et Dominus noster Jesus Christus significavit mihi. 1:14 eidwj oti taxinh estin h apoqesij tou skhnwmatoj mou kaqwj kai o kurioj hmwn ihsouj xristoj edhlwsen moi 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
1:15 Dabo autem operam et frequenter habere vos post obitum meum, ut horum memoriam faciatis. 1:15 spoudasw de kai ekastote exein umaj meta thn emhn ecodon thn toutwn mnhmhn poieisqai 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
1:16 Non enim doctas fabulas secuto notam fecimus vobis Domini nostri Jesu Christi virtutem et præsentiam: sed speculatores facti illius magnitudinis. 1:16 ou gar sesofismenoij muqoij ecakolouqhsantej egnwrisamen umin thn tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou dunamin kai parousian all epoptai genhqentej thj ekeinou megaleiothtoj 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
1:17 Accipiens enim a Deo Patre honorem et gloriam, voce delapsa ad eum hujuscemodi a magnifica gloria: Hic est Filius meus dilectus, in quo mihi complacui, ipsum audite. 1:17 labwn gar para qeou patroj timhn kai docan fwnhj enexqeishj autw toiasde upo thj megaloprepouj dochj outoj estin o uioj mou o agaphtoj eij on egw eudokhsa 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1:18 Et hanc vocem nos audivimus de cælo allatam, cum essemus cum ipso in monte sancto. 1:18 kai tauthn thn fwnhn hmeij hkousamen ec ouranou enexqeisan sun autw ontej en tw orei tw agiw 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
1:19 Et habemus firmiorem propheticum sermonem: cui benefacitis attendentes quasi lucernæ lucenti in caliginoso donec dies elucescat, et lucifer oriatur in cordibus vestris: 1:19 kai exomen bebaioteron ton profhtikon logon w kalwj poieite prosexontej wj luxnw fainonti en auxmhrw topw ewj ou hmera diaugash kai fwsforoj anateilh en taij kardiaij umwn 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2 Peter 1:20 hoc primum intelligentes quod omnis prophetia Scripturæ propria interpretatione non fit. 2 Peter 1:20 touto prwton ginwskontej oti pasa profhteia grafhj idiaj epilusewj ou ginetai 2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
1:21 Non enim voluntate humana allata est aliquando prophetia: sed Spiritu Sancto inspirati, locuti sunt sancti Dei homines. 1:21 ou gar qelhmati anqrwpou hnexqh pote profhteia all upo pneumatoj agiou feromenoi elalhsan agioi qeou anqrwpoi 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
