2 PETER CHAPTER 3

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
2 Peter 3:1 Hanc ecce vobis, carissimi, secundam scribo epistolam, in quibus vestram excito in commonitione sinceram mentem: 2 Peter 3:1 tauthn hdh agaphtoi deuteran umin grafw epistolhn en aij diegeirw umwn en upomnhsei thn eilikrinh dianoian 2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
3:2 ut memores sitis eorum, quæ prædixi, verborum, a sanctis prophetis et apostolorum vestrorum, præceptorum Domini et Salvatoris. 3:2 mnhsqhnai twn proeirhmenwn rhmatwn upo twn agiwn profhtwn kai thj twn apostolwn hmwn entolhj tou kuriou kai swthroj 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3:3 Hoc primum scientes, quod venient in novissimis diebus in deceptione illusores, juxta proprias concupiscentias ambulantes, 3:3 touto prwton ginwskontej oti eleusontai ep esxatou twn hmerwn empaiktai kata taj idiaj autwn epiqumiaj poreuomenoi 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
3:4 kai legontej pou estin h epaggelia thj parousiaj autou af hj gar oi paterej ekoimhqhsan panta outwj diamenei ap arxhj ktisewj 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
3:6 per quæ, ille tunc mundus aqua inundatus, periit. 3:6 di wn o tote kosmoj udati kataklusqeij apwleto 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
3:7 Cæli autem, qui nunc sunt, et terra eodem verbo repositi sunt, igni reservati in diem judicii, et perditionis impiorum hominum. 3:7 oi de nun ouranoi kai h gh tw autw logw teqhsaurismenoi eisin puri throumenoi eij hmeran krisewj kai apwleiaj twn asebwn anqrwpwn 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
3:8 Unum vero hoc non lateat vos, carissimi, quia unus dies apud Dominum sicut mille anni, et mille anni sicut dies unus. 3:8 en de touto mh lanqanetw umaj agaphtoi oti mia hmera para kuriw wj xilia eth kai xilia eth wj hmera mia 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
3:9 ou bradunei o kurioj thj epaggeliaj wj tinej braduthta hgountai alla makroqumei eij hmaj mh boulomenoj tinaj apolesqai alla pantaj eij metanoian xwrhsai 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:10 hcei de h hmera kuriou wj klepthj en nukti en h oi ouranoi roizhdon pareleusontai stoixeia de kausoumena luqhsontai kai gh kai ta en auth erga katakahsetai 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
3:11 Cum igitur hæc omnia dissolvenda sunt, quales oportet vos esse in sanctis conversationibus, et pietatibus, 3:11 toutwn oun pantwn luomenwn potapouj dei uparxein umaj en agiaij anastrofaij kai eusebeiaij 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
3:12 prosdokwntaj kai speudontaj thn parousian thj tou qeou hmeraj di hn ouranoi puroumenoi luqhsontai kai stoixeia kausoumena thketai 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
3:13 Novos vero cælos, et novam terram secundum promissa ipsius exspectamus, in quibus justitia habitat. 3:13 kainouj de ouranouj kai ghn kainhn kata to epaggelma autou prosdokwmen en oij dikaiosunh katoikei 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

3:15 et Domini nostri longanimitatem, salutem arbitremini: sicut et carissimus frater noster Paulus secundum datam sibi sapientiam scripsit vobis, 3:15 kai thn tou kuriou hmwn makroqumian swthrian hgeisqe kaqwj kai o agaphtoj hmwn adelfoj pauloj kata thn autw doqeisan sofian egrayen umin 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
3:16 wj kai en pasaij taij epistolaij lalwn en autaij peri toutwn en oij estin dusnohta tina a oi amaqeij kai asthriktoi streblousin wj kai taj loipaj grafaj proj thn idian autwn apwleian 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
3:17 Vos igitur fratres, præscientes custodite, ne insipientium errore traducti excidatis a propria firmitate: 3:17 umeij oun agaphtoi proginwskontej fulassesqe ina mh th twn aqesmwn planh sunapaxqentej ekpeshte tou idiou sthrigmou 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
3:18 crescite vero in gratia, et in cognitione Domini nostri, et Salvatoris Jesu Christi. Ipsi gloria et nunc, et in diem æternitatis. Amen. 3:18 aucanete de en xariti kai gnwsei tou kuriou hmwn kai swthroj ihsou xristou autw h doca kai nun kai eij hmeran aiwnoj amhn 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
