1 John 5:1 Omnis qui credit quoniam Jesus est Christus, ex Deo natus est. Et omnis qui diligit eum qui genuit, diligit et eum qui natus est ex eo. 1 John 5:1 paj o pisteuwn oti ihsouj estin o xristoj ek tou qeou gegennhtai kai paj o agapwn ton gennhsanta agapa kai ton gegennhmenon ec autou 1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
5:2 In hoc cognoscimus quoniam diligamus natos Dei, cum Deum diligamus, et mandata ejus faciamus. 5:2 en toutw ginwskomen oti agapwmen ta tekna tou qeou otan ton qeon agapwmen kai taj entolaj autou thrwmen 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
5:3 Hæc est enim caritas Dei, ut mandata ejus custodiamus: et mandata ejus gravia non sunt. 5:3 auth gar estin h agaph tou qeou ina taj entolaj autou thrwmen kai ai entolai autou bareiai ouk eisin 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
5:4 Quoniam omne quod natum est ex Deo, vincit mundum: et hæc est victoria, quæ vincit mundum, fides nostra. 5:4 oti pan to gegennhmenon ek tou qeou nika ton kosmon kai auth estin h nikh h nikhsasa ton kosmon h pistij hmwn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5:5 Quis est, qui vincit mundum, nisi qui credit quoniam Jesus est Filius Dei? 5:5 tij estin o nikwn ton kosmon ei mh o pisteuwn oti ihsouj estin o uioj tou qeou 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
5:6 Hic est, qui venit per aquam et sanguinem, Jesus Christus: non in aqua solum, sed in aqua et sanguine. Et Spiritus est, qui testificatur quoniam Christus est veritas. 5:6 outoj estin o elqwn di udatoj kai aimatoj ihsouj o xristoj ouk en tw udati monon all en tw udati kai tw aimati kai to pneuma estin to marturoun oti to pneuma estin h alhqeia 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
5:7 Quoniam tres sunt, qui testimonium dant in cælo: Pater, Verbum, et Spiritus Sanctus: et hi tres unum sunt. 5:7 oti treij eisin oi marturountej en tw ouranw o pathr o logoj kai to agion pneuma kai outoi oi treij en eisin 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
5:8 Et tres sunt, qui testimonium dant in terra: spiritus, et aqua, et sanguis: et hi tres unum sunt. 5:8 kai treij eisin oi marturountej en th gh to pneuma kai to udwr kai to aima kai oi treij eij to en eisin 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
5:9 Si testimonium hominum accipimus, testimonium Dei majus est: quoniam hoc est testimonium Dei, quod majus est, quoniam testificatus est de Filio suo. 5:9 ei thn marturian twn anqrwpwn lambanomen h marturia tou qeou meizwn estin oti auth estin h marturia tou qeou hn memarturhken peri tou uiou autou 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
1 John 5:10 Qui credit in Filium Dei, habet testimonium Dei in se. Qui non credit Filio, mendacem facit eum: quia non credit in testimonium quod testificatus est Deus de Filio suo. 1 John 5:10 o pisteuwn eij ton uion tou qeou exei thn marturian en eautw o mh pisteuwn tw qew yeusthn pepoihken auton oti ou pepisteuken eij thn marturian hn memarturhken o qeoj peri tou uiou autou 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
5:11 Et hoc est testimonium, quoniam vitam æternam dedit nobis Deus: et hæc vita in Filio ejus est. 5:11 kai auth estin h marturia oti zwhn aiwnion edwken hmin o qeoj kai auth h zwh en tw uiw autou estin 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5:12 Qui habet Filium, habet vitam: qui non habet Filium, vitam non habet. 5:12 o exwn ton uion exei thn zwhn o mh exwn ton uion tou qeou thn zwhn ouk exei 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
5:13 Hæc scribo vobis ut sciatis quoniam vitam habetis æternam, qui creditis in nomine Filii Dei. 5:13 tauta egraya umin toij pisteuousin eij to onoma tou uiou tou qeou ina eidhte oti zwhn exete aiwnion kai ina pisteuhte eij to onoma tou uiou tou qeou 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
5:14 Et hæc est fiducia, quam habemus ad eum: quia quodcumque petierimus, secundum voluntatem ejus, audit nos. 5:14 kai auth estin h parrhsia hn exomen proj auton oti ean ti aitwmeqa kata to qelhma autou akouei hmwn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
5:15 Et scimus quia audit nos quidquid petierimus: scimus quoniam habemus petitiones quas postulamus ab eo. 5:15 kai ean oidamen oti akouei hmwn o an aitwmeqa oidamen oti exomen ta aithmata a hthkamen par autou 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
5:16 Qui scit fratrem suum peccare peccatum non ad mortem, petat, et dabitur ei vita peccanti non ad mortem. Est peccatum ad mortem: non pro illo dico ut roget quis. 5:16 ean tij idh ton adelfon autou amartanonta amartian mh proj qanaton aithsei kai dwsei autw zwhn toij amartanousin mh proj qanaton estin amartia proj qanaton ou peri ekeinhj legw ina erwthsh 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
5:17 Omnis iniquitas, peccatum est: et est peccatum ad mortem. 5:17 pasa adikia amartia estin kai estin amartia ou proj qanaton 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
5:18 Scimus quia omnis qui natus est ex Deo, non peccat: sed generatio Dei conservat eum, et malignus non tangit eum. 5:18 oidamen oti paj o gegennhmenoj ek tou qeou oux amartanei all o gennhqeij ek tou qeou threi eauton kai o ponhroj oux aptetai autou 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
5:19 Scimus quoniam ex Deo sumus: et mundus totus in maligno positus est. 5:19 oidamen oti ek tou qeou esmen kai o kosmoj oloj en tw ponhrw keitai 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1 John 5:20 Et scimus quoniam Filius Dei venit, et dedit nobis sensum ut cognoscamus verum Deum, et simus in vero Filio ejus. Hic est verus Deus, et vita æterna. 1 John 5:20 oidamen de oti o uioj tou qeou hkei kai dedwken hmin dianoian ina ginwskwmen ton alhqinon kai esmen en tw alhqinw en tw uiw autou ihsou xristw outoj estin o alhqinoj qeoj kai h zwh aiwnioj 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
5:21 Filioli, custodite vos a simulacris. Amen. 5:21 teknia fulacate eautouj apo twn eidwlwn amhn 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
