Et omnis qui diligit eum qui genuit, diligit et eum qui natus est ex eo. | 1 John 5:1 πᾶς ὁ πιστεύων ὅτι ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ χριστὸς ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ γεγέννηται καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὸν γεννήσαντα ἀγαπᾷ καὶ τὸν γεγεννημένον ἐξ αὐτοῦ | 1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. |
| 5:2 In hoc cognoscimus quoniam diligamus natos Dei, cum Deum diligamus, et mandata ejus faciamus. | 5:2 ἐν τούτῳ γινώσκομεν ὅτι ἀγαπῶμεν τὰ τέκνα τοῦ θεοῦ ὅταν τὸν θεὸν ἀγαπῶμεν, καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ τηρῶμεν | 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. |

| 5:4 Quoniam omne quod natum est ex Deo, vincit mundum: et hæc est victoria, quæ vincit mundum, fides nostra. | 5:4 ὅτι πᾶν τὸ γεγεννημένον ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ νικᾷ τὸν κόσμον καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ νίκη ἡ νικήσασα τὸν κόσμον ἡ πίστις ἡμῶν | 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. |

| 5:6 Hic est, qui venit per aquam et sanguinem, Jesus Christus: non in aqua solum, sed in aqua et sanguine. Et Spiritus est, qui testificatur quoniam Christus est veritas. | 5:6 οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἐλθὼν δι᾽ ὕδατος καὶ αἵματος ἰησοῦς ὁ χριστός οὐκ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι μόνον, ἀλλ᾽ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι καὶ τῷ αἵματι καὶ τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν τὸ μαρτυροῦν ὅτι τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν ἡ ἀλήθεια | 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. |

| 5:8 Et tres sunt, qui testimonium dant in terra: spiritus, et aqua, et sanguis: et hi tres unum sunt. | 5:8 καὶ τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ἐν τῇ γῇ τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ τὸ ὕδωρ, καὶ τὸ αἷμα καὶ οἱ τρεῖς εἰς τὸ ἕν εἰσιν | 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. |
| 5:9 Si testimonium hominum accipimus, testimonium Dei majus est: quoniam hoc est testimonium Dei, quod majus est, quoniam testificatus est de Filio suo. | 5:9 εἰ τὴν μαρτυρίαν τῶν ἀνθρώπων λαμβάνομεν, ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ θεοῦ μείζων ἐστὶν ὅτι αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ θεοῦ ἣν μεμαρτύρηκεν περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὑτοῦ | 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. |

| 5:13 Hæc scribo vobis ut sciatis quoniam vitam habetis æternam, qui creditis in nomine Filii Dei. | 5:13 ταῦτα ἔγραψα ὑμῖν τοῖς πιστεύουσιν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ ἵνα εἰδῆτε ὅτι ζωὴν ἔχετε αἰώνιον καὶ ἵνα πιστεύητε εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ ὑιοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ | 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. |
| 5:14 Et hæc est fiducia, quam habemus ad eum: quia quodcumque petierimus, secundum voluntatem ejus, audit nos. | 5:14 καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ παῤῥησία ἣν ἔχομεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὅτι ἐάν τι αἰτώμεθα κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ, ἀκούει ἡμῶν | 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: |
| 5:15 Et scimus quia audit nos quidquid petierimus: scimus quoniam habemus petitiones quas postulamus ab eo. | 5:15 καὶ ἐὰν οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀκούει ἡμῶν ὃ ἂν αἰτώμεθα οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἔχομεν τὰ αἰτήματα ἃ ᾐτήκαμεν παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ | 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
| 5:16 Qui scit fratrem suum peccare peccatum non ad mortem, petat, et dabitur ei vita peccanti non ad mortem. Est peccatum ad mortem: non pro illo dico ut roget quis. | 5:16 ἐάν τις ἴδῃ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὑτοῦ ἁμαρτάνοντα ἁμαρτίαν μὴ πρὸς θάνατον αἰτήσει, καὶ δώσει αὐτῷ ζωὴν τοῖς ἁμαρτάνουσιν μὴ πρὸς θάνατον ἔστιν ἁμαρτία πρὸς θάνατον οὐ περὶ ἐκείνης λέγω ἵνα ἐρωτήσῃ | 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. |
| 5:17 Omnis iniquitas, peccatum est: et est peccatum ad mortem. | 5:17 πᾶσα ἀδικία ἁμαρτία ἐστὶν καὶ ἔστιν ἁμαρτία οὐ πρὸς θάνατον | 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. |
| 5:18 Scimus quia omnis qui natus est ex Deo, non peccat: sed generatio Dei conservat eum, et malignus non tangit eum. | 5:18 οἴδαμεν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ γεγεννημένος ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει ἀλλ᾽ ὁ γεννηθεὶς ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ τηρεῖ ἐαυτὸν καὶ ὁ πονηρὸς οὐχ ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ | 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. |
| 5:19 Scimus quoniam ex Deo sumus: et mundus totus in maligno positus est. | 5:19 οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐσμὲν καὶ ὁ κόσμος ὅλος ἐν τῷ πονηρῷ κεῖται | 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. |
| 1 John 5:20 Et scimus quoniam Filius Dei venit, et dedit nobis sensum ut cognoscamus verum Deum, et simus in vero Filio ejus. Hic est verus Deus, et vita æterna. | 1 John 5:20 οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἥκει καὶ δέδωκεν ἡμῖν διάνοιαν ἵνα γινώσκωμεν τὸν ἀληθινόν καί ἐσμεν ἐν τῷ ἀληθινῷ ἐν τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ ἰησοῦ χριστῷ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀληθινὸς θεὸς καὶ ἡ ζωὴ αἰώνιος | 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
| 5:21 Filioli, custodite vos a simulacris. Amen. | 5:21 τεκνία φυλάξατε ἑαυτοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν εἰδώλων ἀμήν | 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
