Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
1 Thessalonians 2:1 Nam ipsi scitis, fratres, introitum nostrum ad vos, quia non inanis fuit: 1 Thessalonians 2:1 autoi gar oidate adelfoi thn eisodon hmwn thn proj umaj oti ou kenh gegonen 1 Thessalonians 2:1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
2:2 sed ante passi, et contumeliis affecti (sicut scitis) in Philippis, fiduciam habuimus in Deo nostro, loqui ad vos Evangelium Dei in multa sollicitudine. 2:2 alla kai propaqontej kai ubrisqentej kaqwj oidate en filippoij eparrhsiasameqa en tw qew hmwn lalhsai proj umaj to euaggelion tou qeou en pollw agwni
2:2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
2:4 sed sicut probati sumus a Deo ut crederetur nobis Evangelium: ita loquimur non quasi hominibus placentes, sed Deo, qui probat corda nostra. 2:4 alla kaqwj dedokimasmeqa upo tou qeou pisteuqhnai to euaggelion outwj laloumen oux wj anqrwpoij areskontej alla tw qew tw dokimazonti taj kardiaj hmwn 2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
2:5 Neque enim aliquando fuimus in sermone adulationis, sicut scitis: neque in occasione avaritiæ: Deus testis est: 2:5 oute gar pote en logw kolakeiaj egenhqhmen kaqwj oidate oute en profasei pleoneciaj qeoj martuj 2:5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

2:7 Cum possemus vobis oneri esse ut Christi apostoli: sed facti sumus parvuli in medio vestrum, tamquam si nutrix foveat filios suos. 2:7 all egenhqhmen hpioi en mesw umwn wj an trofoj qalph ta eauthj tekna 2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
2:8 Ita desiderantes vos, cupide volebamus tradere vobis non solum Evangelium Dei, sed etiam animas nostras: quoniam carissimi nobis facti estis. 2:8 outwj imeiromenoi umwn eudokoumen metadounai umin ou monon to euaggelion tou qeou alla kai taj eautwn yuxaj dioti agaphtoi hmin gegenhsqe 2:8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
2:9 Memores enim estis, fratres, laboris nostri, et fatigationis: nocte ac die operantes, ne quem vestrum gravaremus, prædicavimus in vobis Evangelium Dei. 2:9 mnhmoneuete gar adelfoi ton kopon hmwn kai ton moxqon nuktoj gar kai hmeraj ergazomenoi proj to mh epibarhsai tina umwn ekhrucamen eij umaj to euaggelion tou qeou 2:9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
1 Thessalonians 2:10 Vos testes estis, et Deus, quam sancte, et juste, et sine querela, vobis, qui credidistis, fuimus: 1 Thessalonians 2:10 umeij marturej kai o qeoj wj osiwj kai dikaiwj kai amemptwj umin toij pisteuousin egenhqhmen 1 Thessalonians 2:10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

2:13 Ideo et nos gratias agimus Deo sine intermissione: quoniam cum accepissetis a nobis verbum auditus Dei, accepistis illud, non ut verbum hominum, sed (sicut est vere) verbum Dei, qui operatur in vobis, qui credidistis: 2:13 dia touto kai hmeij euxaristoumen tw qew adialeiptwj oti paralabontej logon akohj par hmwn tou qeou edecasqe ou logon anqrwpwn alla kaqwj estin alhqwj logon qeou oj kai energeitai en umin toij pisteuousin 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it ot as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
2:14 vos enim imitatores facti estis, fratres, ecclesiarum Dei, quæ sunt in Judæa in Christo Jesu: quia eadem passi estis et vos a contribulibus vestris, sicut et ipsi a Judæis: 2:14 umeij gar mimhtai egenhqhte adelfoi twn ekklhsiwn tou qeou twn ouswn en th ioudaia en xristw ihsou oti tauta epaqete kai umeij upo twn idiwn sumfuletwn kaqwj kai autoi upo twn ioudaiwn 2:14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
2:15 qui et Dominum occiderunt Jesum, et prophetas, et nos persecuti sunt, et Deo non placent, et omnibus hominibus adversantur, 2:15 twn kai ton kurion apokteinantwn ihsoun kai touj idiouj profhtaj kai hmaj ekdiwcantwn kai qew mh areskontwn kai pasin anqrwpoij enantiwn 2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
2:16 prohibentes nos gentibus loqui ut salvæ fiant, ut impleant peccata sua semper: pervenit enim ira Dei super illos usque in finem. 2:16 kwluontwn hmaj toij eqnesin lalhsai ina swqwsin eij to anaplhrwsai autwn taj amartiaj pantote efqasen de ep autouj h orgh eij teloj 2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
2:17 Nos autem fratres desolati a vobis ad tempus horæ, aspectu, non corde, abundantius festinavimus faciem vestram videre cum multo desiderio: 2:17 hmeij de adelfoi aporfanisqentej af umwn proj kairon wraj proswpw ou kardia perissoterwj espoudasamen to proswpon umwn idein en pollh epiqumia 2:17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

2:19 tij gar hmwn elpij h xara h stefanoj kauxhsewj h ouxi kai umeij emprosqen tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou en th autou parousia 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
