1 Thessalonians 5:1 De temporibus autem, et momentis, fratres, non indigetis ut scribamus vobis. 1 Thessalonians 5:1 peri de twn xronwn kai twn kairwn adelfoi ou xreian exete umin grafesqai 1 Thessalonians 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
5:2 Ipsi enim diligenter scitis quia dies Domini, sicut fur in nocte, ita veniet: 5:2 autoi gar akribwj oidate oti h hmera kuriou wj klepthj en nukti outwj erxetai 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
5:3 cum enim dixerint: Pax et securitas: tunc repentinus eis superveniet interitus, sicut dolor in utero habenti, et non effugient. 5:3 otan gar legwsin eirhnh kai asfaleia tote aifnidioj autoij efistatai oleqroj wsper h wdin th en gastri exoush kai ou mh ekfugwsin 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
5:4 Vos autem, fratres, non estis in tenebris, ut vos die illa tamquam fur comprehendat: 5:4 umeij de adelfoi ouk este en skotei ina h hmera umaj wj klepthj katalabh 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5:5 omnes enim vos filii lucis estis, et filii diei: non sumus noctis, neque tenebrarum. 5:5 pantej umeij uioi fwtoj este kai uioi hmeraj ouk esmen nuktoj oude skotouj 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5:6 Igitur non dormiamus sicut et ceteri, sed vigilemus, et sobrii simus. 5:6 ara oun mh kaqeudwmen wj kai oi loipoi alla grhgorwmen kai nhfwmen 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
5:7 Qui enim dormiunt, nocte dormiunt: et qui ebrii sunt, nocte ebrii sunt. 5:7 oi gar kaqeudontej nuktoj kaqeudousin kai oi mequskomenoi nuktoj mequousin 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
5:8 Nos autem, qui diei sumus, sobrii simus, induti loricam fidei et caritatis, et galeam spem salutis: 5:8 hmeij de hmeraj ontej nhfwmen endusamenoi qwraka pistewj kai agaphj kai perikefalaian elpida swthriaj 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
5:9 quoniam non posuit nos Deus in iram, sed in acquisitionem salutis per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum, 5:9 oti ouk eqeto hmaj o qeoj eij orghn all eij peripoihsin swthriaj dia tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Thessalonians 5:10 qui mortuus est pro nobis: ut sive vigilemus, sive dormiamus, simul cum illo vivamus. 1 Thessalonians 5:10 tou apoqanontoj uper hmwn ina eite grhgorwmen eite kaqeudwmen ama sun autw zhswmen 1 Thessalonians 5:10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
5:11 Propter quod consolamini invicem, et ædificate alterutrum, sicut et facitis. 5:11 dio parakaleite allhlouj kai oikodomeite eij ton ena kaqwj kai poieite 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
5:12 Rogamus autem vos, fratres, ut noveritis eos qui laborant inter vos, et præsunt vobis in Domino, et monent vos, 5:12 erwtwmen de umaj adelfoi eidenai touj kopiwntaj en umin kai proistamenouj umwn en kuriw kai nouqetountaj umaj 5:12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
5:13 ut habeatis illos abundantius in caritate propter opus illorum: pacem habete cum eis. 5:13 kai hgeisqai autouj uper ekperissou en agaph dia to ergon autwn eirhneuete en eautoij 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
5:14 Rogamus autem vos, fratres, corripite inquietos, consolamini pusillanimes, suscipite infirmos, patientes estote ad omnes. 5:14 parakaloumen de umaj adelfoi nouqeteite touj ataktouj paramuqeisqe touj oligoyuxouj antexesqe twn asqenwn makroqumeite proj pantaj 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
5:15 Videte ne quis malum pro malo alicui reddat: sed semper quod bonum est sectamini in invicem, et in omnes. 5:15 orate mh tij kakon anti kakou tini apodw alla pantote to agaqon diwkete kai eij allhlouj kai eij pantaj 5:15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
5:16 Semper gaudete. 5:16 pantote xairete 5:16 Rejoice evermore.
5:17 Sine intermissione orate. 5:17 adialeiptwj proseuxesqe 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
5:18 In omnibus gratias agite: hæc est enim voluntas Dei in Christo Jesu in omnibus vobis. 5:18 en panti euxaristeite touto gar qelhma qeou en xristw ihsou eij umaj 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
5:19 Spiritum nolite extinguere. 5:19 to pneuma mh sbennute 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:20 Prophetias nolite spernere. 1 Thessalonians 5:20 profhteiaj mh ecouqeneite 1 Thessalonians 5:20 Despise not prophesyings.
5:21 Omnia autem probate: quod bonum est tenete. 5:21 panta dokimazete to kalon katexete 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
5:22 Ab omni specie mala abstinete vos. 5:22 apo pantoj eidouj ponhrou apexesqe 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
5:23 Ipse autem Deus pacis sanctificet vos per omnia: ut integer spiritus vester, et anima, et corpus sine querela in adventu Domini nostri Jesu Christi servetur. 5:23 autoj de o qeoj thj eirhnhj agiasai umaj oloteleij kai oloklhron umwn to pneuma kai h yuxh kai to swma amemptwj en th parousia tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou thrhqeih 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
5:24 Fidelis est, qui vocavit vos: qui etiam faciet. 5:24 pistoj o kalwn umaj oj kai poihsei 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
5:25 Fratres, orate pro nobis. 5:25 adelfoi proseuxesqe peri hmwn 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
5:26 Salutate fratres omnes in osculo sancto. 5:26 aspasasqe touj adelfouj pantaj en filhmati agiw 5:26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
5:27 Adjuro vos per Dominum ut legatur epistola hæc omnibus sanctis fratribus. 5:27 orkizw umaj ton kurion anagnwsqhnai thn epistolhn pasin toij agioij adelfoij 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
5:28 Gratia Domini nostri Jesu Christi vobiscum. Amen. 5:28 h xarij tou kuriou hmwn ihsou xristou meq umwn amhn 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
