Philippians 1:1 Paulus et Timotheus, servi Jesu Christi, omnibus sanctis in Christo Jesu, qui sunt Philippis, cum episcopis et diaconibus. Philippians 1:1 pauloj kai timoqeoj douloi ihsou xristou pasin toij agioij en xristw ihsou toij ousin en filippoij sun episkopoij kai diakonoij Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
1:2 Gratia vobis, et pax a Deo Patre nostro, et Domino Jesu Christo. 1:2 xarij umin kai eirhnh apo qeou patroj hmwn kai kuriou ihsou xristou 1:2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 Gratias ago Deo meo in omni memoria vestri, 1:3 euxaristw tw qew mou epi pash th mneia umwn 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
1:4 semper in cunctis orationibus meis pro omnibus vobis, cum gaudio deprecationem faciens, 1:4 pantote en pash dehsei mou uper pantwn umwn meta xaraj thn dehsin poioumenoj 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
1:5 super communicatione vestra in Evangelio Christi a prima die usque nunc. 1:5 epi th koinwnia umwn eij to euaggelion apo prwthj hmeraj axri tou nun 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
1:6 Confidens hoc ipsum, quia qui cœpit in vobis opus bonum, perficiet usque in diem Christi Jesu: 1:6 pepoiqwj auto touto oti o enarcamenoj en umin ergon agaqon epitelesei axrij hmeraj ihsou xristou 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
1:7 sicut est mihi justum hoc sentire pro omnibus vobis: eo quod habeam vos in corde, et in vinculis meis, et in defensione, et confirmatione Evangelii, socios gaudii mei omnes vos esse. 1:7 kaqwj estin dikaion emoi touto fronein uper pantwn umwn dia to exein me en th kardia umaj en te toij desmoij mou kai th apologia kai bebaiwsei tou euaggeliou sugkoinwnouj mou thj xaritoj pantaj umaj ontaj 1:7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
1:8 Testis enim mihi est Deus, quomodo cupiam omnes vos in visceribus Jesu Christi. 1:8 martuj gar mou estin o qeoj wj epipoqw pantaj umaj en splagxnoij ihsou xristou 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
1:9 Et hoc oro, ut caritas vestra magis ac magis abundet in scientia, et in omni sensu: 1:9 kai touto proseuxomai ina h agaph umwn eti mallon kai mallon perisseuh en epignwsei kai pash aisqhsei 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Philippians 1:10 ut probetis potiora, ut sitis sinceri, et sine offensa in diem Christi, Philippians 1:10 eij to dokimazein umaj ta diaferonta ina hte eilikrineij kai aproskopoi eij hmeran xristou Philippians 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
1:11 repleti fructu justitiæ per Jesum Christum, in gloriam et laudem Dei. 1:11 peplhrwmenoi karpwn dikaiosunhj twn dia ihsou xristou eij docan kai epainon qeou 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
1:12 Scire autem vos volo fratres, quia quæ circa me sunt, magis ad profectum venerunt Evangelii: 1:12 ginwskein de umaj boulomai adelfoi oti ta kat eme mallon eij prokophn tou euaggeliou elhluqen 1:12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
1:13 ita ut vincula mea manifesta fierent in Christo in omni prætorio, et in ceteris omnibus, 1:13 wste touj desmouj mou fanerouj en xristw genesqai en olw tw praitwriw kai toij loipoij pasin 1:13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
1:14 et plures e fratribus in Domino confidentes vinculis meis, abundantius auderent sine timore verbum Dei loqui. 1:14 kai touj pleionaj twn adelfwn en kuriw pepoiqotaj toij desmoij mou perissoterwj tolman afobwj ton logon lalein 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
1:15 Quidam quidem et propter invidiam et contentionem: quidam autem et propter bonam voluntatem Christum prædicant: 1:15 tinej men kai dia fqonon kai erin tinej de kai di eudokian ton xriston khrussousin 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
1:16 quidam ex caritate, scientes quoniam in defensionem Evangelii positus sum. 1:16 oi men ec eriqeiaj ton xriston kataggellousin oux agnwj oiomenoi qliyin epiferein toij desmoij mou 1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
1:17 Quidam autem ex contentione Christum annuntiant non sincere, existimantes pressuram se suscitare vinculis meis. 1:17 oi de ec agaphj eidotej oti eij apologian tou euaggeliou keimai 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
1:18 Quid enim? Dum omni modo sive per occasionem, sive per veritatem, Christus annuntietur: et in hoc gaudeo, sed et gaudebo. 1:18 ti gar plhn panti tropw eite profasei eite alhqeia xristoj kataggelletai kai en toutw xairw alla kai xarhsomai 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
1:19 Scio enim quia hoc mihi proveniet ad salutem, per vestram orationem, et subministrationem Spiritus Jesu Christi, 1:19 oida gar oti touto moi apobhsetai eij swthrian dia thj umwn dehsewj kai epixorhgiaj tou pneumatoj ihsou xristou 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 1:20 secundum exspectationem et spem meam, quia in nullo confundar: sed in omni fiducia sicut semper, et nunc magnificabitur Christus in corpore meo, sive per vitam, sive per mortem. Philippians 1:20 kata thn apokaradokian kai elpida mou oti en oudeni aisxunqhsomai all en pash parrhsia wj pantote kai nun megalunqhsetai xristoj en tw swmati mou eite dia zwhj eite dia qanatou Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
1:21 Mihi enim vivere Christus est, et mori lucrum. 1:21 emoi gar to zhn xristoj kai to apoqanein kerdoj 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
1:22 Quod si vivere in carne, hic mihi fructus operis est, et quid eligam ignoro. 1:22 ei de to zhn en sarki touto moi karpoj ergou kai ti airhsomai ou gnwrizw 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
1:23 Coarctor autem e duobus: desiderium habens dissolvi, et esse cum Christo, multo magis melius: 1:23 sunexomai gar ek twn duo thn epiqumian exwn eij to analusai kai sun xristw einai pollw mallon kreisson 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
1:24 permanere autem in carne, necessarium propter vos. 1:24 to de epimenein en th sarki anagkaioteron di umaj 1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
1:25 Et hoc confidens scio quia manebo, et permanebo omnibus vobis ad profectum vestrum, et gaudium fidei: 1:25 kai touto pepoiqwj oida oti menw kai sumparamenw pasin umin eij thn umwn prokophn kai xaran thj pistewj 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
1:26 ut gratulatio vestra abundet in Christo Jesu in me, per meum adventum iterum ad vos. 1:26 ina to kauxhma umwn perisseuh en xristw ihsou en emoi dia thj emhj parousiaj palin proj umaj 1:26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
1:27 Tantum digne Evangelio Christi conversamini: ut sive cum venero, et videro vos, sive absens audiam de vobis, quia statis in uno spiritu unanimes, collaborantes fidei Evangelii: 1:27 monon aciwj tou euaggeliou tou xristou politeuesqe ina eite elqwn kai idwn umaj eite apwn akousw ta peri umwn oti sthkete en eni pneumati mia yuxh sunaqlountej th pistei tou euaggeliou 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
1:28 et in nullo terreamini ab adversariis: quæ illis est causa perditionis, vobis autem salutis, et hoc a Deo: 1:28 kai mh pturomenoi en mhdeni upo twn antikeimenwn htij autoij men estin endeicij apwleiaj umin de swthriaj kai touto apo qeou 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
1:29 quia vobis donatum est pro Christo, non solum ut in eum credatis, sed ut etiam pro illo patiamini: 1:29 oti umin exarisqh to uper xristou ou monon to eij auton pisteuein alla kai to uper autou pasxein 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Philippians 1:30 idem certamen habentes, quale et vidistis in me, et nunc audistis de me. Philippians 1:30 ton auton agwna exontej oion eidete en emoi kai nun akouete en emoi Philippians 1:30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
