1 Peter 3:1 Similiter et mulieres subditæ sint viris suis: ut etsi qui non credunt verbo, per mulierem conversationem sine verbo lucrifiant: 1 Peter 3:1 omoiwj ai gunaikej upotassomenai toij idioij andrasin ina kai ei tinej apeiqousin tw logw dia thj twn gunaikwn anastrofhj aneu logou kerdhqhswntai 1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
3:2 considerantes in timore castam conversationem vestram. 3:2 epopteusantej thn en fobw agnhn anastrofhn umwn 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3:3 Quarum non sit extrinsecus capillatura, aut circumdatio auri, aut indumenti vestimentorum cultus: 3:3 wn estw oux o ecwqen emplokhj trixwn kai periqesewj xrusiwn h endusewj imatiwn kosmoj 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
3:4 sed qui absconditus est cordis homo, in incorruptibilitate quieti, et modesti spiritus, qui est in conspectu Dei locuples. 3:4 all o kruptoj thj kardiaj anqrwpoj en tw afqartw tou praeoj kai hsuxiou pneumatoj o estin enwpion tou qeou polutelej 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
3:5 Sic enim aliquando et sanctæ mulieres, sperantes in Deo, ornabant se, subjectæ propriis viris. 3:5 outwj gar pote kai ai agiai gunaikej ai elpizousai epi ton qeon ekosmoun eautaj upotassomenai toij idioij andrasin 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
3:6 Sicut Sara obediebat Abrahæ, dominum eum vocans: cujus estis filiæ benefacientes, et non pertimentes ullam perturbationem. 3:6 wj sarra uphkousen tw abraam kurion auton kalousa hj egenhqhte tekna agaqopoiousai kai mh foboumenai mhdemian ptohsin 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
3:7 Viri similiter cohabitantes secundum scientiam, quasi infirmiori vasculo muliebri impartientes honorem, tamquam et cohæredibus gratiæ vitæ: ut non impediantur orationes vestræ. 3:7 oi andrej omoiwj sunoikountej kata gnwsin wj asqenesterw skeuei tw gunaikeiw aponemontej timhn wj kai sugklhronomoi xaritoj zwhj eij to mh ekkoptesqai taj proseuxaj umwn 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
3:8 In fine autem omnes unanimes, compatientes fraternitatis amatores, misericordes, modesti, humiles: 3:8 to de teloj pantej omofronej sumpaqeij filadelfoi eusplagxnoi filofronej 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
3:9 non reddentes malum pro malo, nec maledictum pro maledicto, sed e contrario benedicentes: quia in hoc vocati estis, ut benedictionem hæreditate possideatis. 3:9 mh apodidontej kakon anti kakou h loidorian anti loidoriaj tounantion de eulogountej eidotej oti eij touto eklhqhte ina eulogian klhronomhshte 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

3:11 Declinet a malo, et faciat bonum: inquirat pacem, et sequatur eam: 3:11 ekklinatw apo kakou kai poihsatw agaqon zhthsatw eirhnhn kai diwcatw authn 3:11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
3:12 quia oculi Domini super justos, et aures ejus in preces eorum: vultus autem Domini super facientes mala. 3:12 oti oi ofqalmoi kuriou epi dikaiouj kai wta autou eij dehsin autwn proswpon de kuriou epi poiountaj kaka 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
3:13 Et quis est qui vobis noceat, si boni æmulatores fueritis? 3:13 kai tij o kakwswn umaj ean tou agaqou mimhtai genhsqe 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
3:14 Sed et si quid patimini propter justitiam, beati. Timorem autem eorum ne timueritis, et non conturbemini. 3:14 all ei kai pasxoite dia dikaiosunhn makarioi ton de fobon autwn mh fobhqhte mhde taraxqhte 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
3:15 Dominum autem Christum sanctificate in cordibus vestris, parati semper ad satisfactionem omni poscenti vos rationem de ea, quæ in vobis est, spe. 3:15 kurion de ton qeon agiasate en taij kardiaij umwn etoimoi de aei proj apologian panti tw aitounti umaj logon peri thj en umin elpidoj meta prauthtoj kai fobou 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
3:16 Sed cum modestia, et timore, conscientiam habentes bonam: ut in eo, quod detrahunt vobis, confundantur, qui calumniantur vestram bonam in Christo conversationem. 3:16 suneidhsin exontej agaqhn ina en w katalalwsin umwn wj kakopoiwn kataisxunqwsin oi ephreazontej umwn thn agaqhn en xristw anastrofhn 3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
3:17 Melius est enim benefacientes (si voluntas Dei velit) pati, quam malefacientes. 3:17 kreitton gar agaqopoiountaj ei qelei to qelhma tou qeou pasxein h kakopoiountaj 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
3:18 Quia et Christus semel pro peccatis nostris mortuus est, justus pro injustis, ut nos offerret Deo, mortificatus quidem carne, vivificatus autem spiritu. 3:18 oti kai xristoj apac peri amartiwn epaqen dikaioj uper adikwn ina hmaj prosagagh tw qew qanatwqeij men sarki zwopoihqeij de tw pneumati 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
3:19 In quo et his, qui in carcere erant, spiritibus veniens prædicavit: 3:19 en w kai toij en fulakh pneumasin poreuqeij ekhrucen 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
