GALATIANS CHAPTER 5

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Galatians 5:1 State, et nolite iterum jugo servitutis contineri. Galatians 5:1 τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ οὖν ᾖ χριστὸς ἡμᾶς ἠλευθέρωσεν στήκετε καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
5:2 Ecce ego Paulus dico vobis: quoniam si circumcidamini, Christus vobis nihil proderit. 5:2 ἴδε ἐγὼ παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
5:3 μαρτύρομαι δὲ πάλιν παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ περιτεμνομένῳ ὅτι ὀφειλέτης ἐστὶν ὅλον τὸν νόμον ποιῆσαι 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
5:4 Evacuati estis a Christo, qui in lege justificamini: a gratia excidistis. 5:4 κατηργήθητε ἀπὸ τοῦ χριστοῦ οἵτινες ἐν νόμῳ δικαιοῦσθε τῆς χάριτος ἐξεπέσατε 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5:5 ἡμεῖς γὰρ πνεύματι ἐκ πίστεως ἐλπίδα δικαιοσύνης ἀπεκδεχόμεθα 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
5:6 ἐν γὰρ χριστῷ ἰησοῦ οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει οὔτε ἀκροβυστία ἀλλὰ πίστις δι᾽ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
5:7 Currebatis bene: quis vos impedivit veritati non obedire? 5:7 ἐτρέχετε καλῶς τίς ὑμᾶς ἀνέκοψεν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
5:8 ἡ πεισμονὴ οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς 5:8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
5:9 Modicum fermentum totam massam corrumpit. 5:9 μικρὰ ζύμη ὅλον τὸ φύραμα ζυμοῖ 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
Galatians 5:10 ἐγὼ πέποιθα εἰς ὑμᾶς ἐν κυρίῳ ὅτι οὐδὲν ἄλλο φρονήσετε ὁ δὲ ταράσσων ὑμᾶς βαστάσει τὸ κρίμα ὅστις ἂν ᾖ Galatians 5:10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
5:11 ἐγὼ δέ ἀδελφοί εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω τί ἔτι διώκομαι ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ 5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
5:12 Utinam et abscindantur qui vos conturbant. 5:12 ὄφελον καὶ ἀποκόψονται οἱ ἀναστατοῦντες ὑμᾶς 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
5:13 ὑμεῖς γὰρ ἐπ᾽ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἐκλήθητε ἀδελφοί μόνον μὴ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν εἰς ἀφορμὴν τῇ σαρκί ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης δουλεύετε ἀλλήλοις 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
5:14 Omnis enim lex in uno sermone impletur: Diliges proximum tuum sicut teipsum. 5:14 ὁ γὰρ πᾶς νόμος ἐν ἑνὶ λόγῳ πληροῦται, ἐν τῷ ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς εαυτόν 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
5:15 εἰ δὲ ἀλλήλους δάκνετε καὶ κατεσθίετε βλέπετε μὴ ὑπό ἀλλήλων ἀναλωθῆτε 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
5:16 λέγω δέ πνεύματι περιπατεῖτε καὶ ἐπιθυμίαν σαρκὸς οὐ μὴ τελέσητε 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
5:17 ἡ γὰρ σὰρξ ἐπιθυμεῖ κατὰ τοῦ πνεύματος τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα κατὰ τῆς σαρκός ταῦτα δὲ ἀντίκειται ἀλλήλοις ἵνα μὴ ἃ ἂν θέλητε ταῦτα ποιῆτε 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
5:18 εἰ δὲ πνεύματι ἄγεσθε οὐκ ἐστὲ ὑπὸ νόμον 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
5:19 Manifesta sunt autem opera carnis, quæ sunt fornicatio, immunditia, impudicitia, luxuria, 5:19 φανερὰ δέ ἐστιν τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός ἅτινά ἐστιν μοιχεία, πορνεία ἀκαθαρσία ἀσέλγεια 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
5:21 φθόνοι φόνοι, μέθαι κῶμοι καὶ τὰ ὅμοια τούτοις ἃ προλέγω ὑμῖν καθὼς καὶ προεῖπον ὅτι οἱ τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντες βασιλείαν θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
5:22 Fructus autem Spiritus est caritas, gaudium, pax, patientia, benignitas, bonitas, longanimitas, 5:22 ὁ δὲ καρπὸς τοῦ πνεύματός ἐστιν ἀγάπη χαρά εἰρήνη μακροθυμία χρηστότης ἀγαθωσύνη πίστις 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
5:23 mansuetudo, fides, modestia, continentia, castitas. Adversus hujusmodi non est lex. 5:23 πρᾳότης, ἐγκράτεια κατὰ τῶν τοιούτων οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
5:24 οἱ δὲ τοῦ χριστοῦ τὴν σάρκα ἐσταύρωσαν σὺν τοῖς παθήμασιν καὶ ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
5:25 Si Spiritu vivimus, Spiritu et ambulemus. 5:25 εἰ ζῶμεν πνεύματι πνεύματι καὶ στοιχῶμεν 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
5:26 Non efficiamur inanis gloriæ cupidi, invicem provocantes, invicem invidentes. 5:26 μὴ γινώμεθα κενόδοξοι ἀλλήλους προκαλούμενοι ἀλλήλοις φθονοῦντες 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
