Introduction 1.1

This is a bible study about the meaning of the Hebrew word מְלָאכָה, 'melachah' meaning 'work', and gives every verse where the Hebrew word "melachah" appears. It is particularly useful to study the kind of work to abstain from on the Sabbath day. To obtain a true understanding of this word these scriptures need to be meditated on and notes made of their meaning in different contexts. This requires putting scriptures together where they seem to have a similar meaning, and then meditating even more. The truth will be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). Wherever this word melachah appears in the Hebrew, the translation of it is highlighted with yellow. In Hebrew the suffixes and some prepositions are added to the basic word to enhance the meaning, and where this has been done the meaning of the suffix or preposition has been included in highlighted text. 36:3 And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it. And they brought yet to him free offerings every morning.
36:4 And all the wise men, who did all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;

38:24 All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy place, even the gold of the offering, was twenty nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

Judges 16:11 And he said to her, If they bind me fast with new ropes with which work has not been done, then I shall be weak, and be as another man.

29:5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day to Yahweh?
29:6 Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly,

2Chronicles 4:11 And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
