HEBREWS CHAPTER 3

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Hebrews 3:1 Unde, fratres sancti, vocationis cælestis participes, considerate Apostolum, et pontificem confessionis nostræ Jesum: Hebrews 3:1 ὅθεν ἀδελφοὶ ἅγιοι κλήσεως ἐπουρανίου μέτοχοι κατανοήσατε τὸν ἀπόστολον καὶ ἀρχιερέα τῆς ὁμολογίας ἡμῶν χριστὸν ἰησοῦν Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
3:2 πιστὸν ὄντα τῷ ποιήσαντι αὐτὸν ὡς καὶ μωσῆς ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3:3 πλείονος γὰρ δόξης οὗτος παρὰ μωσῆν ἠξίωται καθ᾽ ὅσον πλείονα τιμὴν ἔχει τοῦ οἴκου ὁ κατασκευάσας αὐτόν 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
3:4 πᾶς γὰρ οἶκος κατασκευάζεται ὑπό τινος ὁ δὲ τὰ πάντα κατασκευάσας θεός 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
3:5 Et Moyses quidem fidelis erat in tota domo ejus tamquam famulus, in testimonium eorum, quæ dicenda erant: 3:5 καὶ μωσῆς μὲν πιστὸς ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ὡς θεράπων εἰς μαρτύριον τῶν λαληθησομένων 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
3:6 Christus vero tamquam filius in domo sua: quæ domus sumus nos, si fiduciam, et gloriam spei usque ad finem, firmam retineamus. 3:6 χριστὸς δὲ ὡς υἱὸς ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ οὗ οἶκός ἐσμεν ἡμεῖς ἐάνπερ τὴν παῤῥησίαν καὶ τὸ καύχημα τῆς ἐλπίδος μέχρι τέλους βεβαίαν κατάσχωμεν 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
3:7 Quapropter sicut dicit Spiritus Sanctus: Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis, 3:7 διό καθὼς λέγει τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
3:8 nolite obdurare corda vestra, sicut in exacerbatione secundum diem tentationis in deserto, 3:8 μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐν τῷ παραπικρασμῷ κατὰ τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ πειρασμοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
3:9 ubi tentaverunt me patres vestri: probaverunt, et viderunt opera mea 3:9 οὗ ἐπείρασαν με οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἐδοκιμασάν με, καὶ εἶδον τὰ ἔργα μου τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Hebrews 3:10 quadraginta annis: propter quod infensus fui generationi huic, et dixi: Semper errant corde. Ipsi autem non cognoverunt vias meas, Hebrews 3:10 διὸ προσώχθισα τῇ γενεᾷ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ εἶπον ἀεὶ πλανῶνται τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοὶ δὲ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὰς ὁδούς μου Hebrews 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
3:11 sicut juravi in ira mea: Si introibunt in requiem meam. 3:11 ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
3:12 Videte fratres, ne forte sit in aliquo vestrum cor malum incredulitatis, discedendi a Deo vivo: 3:12 βλέπετε ἀδελφοί μήποτε ἔσται ἔν τινι ὑμῶν καρδία πονηρὰ ἀπιστίας ἐν τῷ ἀποστῆναι ἀπὸ θεοῦ ζῶντος 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
3:13 ἀλλὰ παρακαλεῖτε ἑαυτοὺς καθ᾽ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν ἄχρις οὗ τὸ σήμερον καλεῖται ἵνα μὴ σκληρυνθῇ τις ἐξ ὑμῶν ἀπάτῃ τῆς ἁμαρτίας 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
3:14 Participes enim Christi effecti sumus, si tamen initium substantiæ ejus usque ad finem firmum retineamus. 3:14 μέτοχοι γὰρ γεγόναμεν τοῦ χριστοῦ ἐάνπερ τὴν ἀρχὴν τῆς ὑποστάσεως μέχρι τέλους βεβαίαν κατάσχωμεν 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
3:15 Dum dicitur: Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis, nolite obdurare corda vestra, quemadmodum in illa exacerbatione. 3:15 ἐν τῷ λέγεσθαι σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐν τῷ παραπικρασμῷ 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
3:16 τίνες γὰρ ἀκούσαντες παρεπίκραναν ἀλλ᾽ οὐ πάντες οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐξ αἰγύπτου διὰ μωσέως 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
3:17 τίσιν δὲ προσώχθισεν τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη οὐχὶ τοῖς ἁμαρτήσασιν ὧν τὰ κῶλα ἔπεσεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
3:19 καὶ βλέπομεν ὅτι οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν εἰσελθεῖν δι᾽ ἀπιστίαν 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
