HEBREWS CHAPTER 3

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Hebrews 3:1 Unde, fratres sancti, vocationis cælestis participes, considerate Apostolum, et pontificem confessionis nostræ Jesum: Hebrews 3:1 oqen adelfoi agioi klhsewj epouraniou metoxoi katanohsate ton apostolon kai arxierea thj omologiaj hmwn xriston ihsoun Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3:3 pleionoj gar dochj outoj para mwshn hciwtai kaq oson pleiona timhn exei tou oikou o kataskeuasaj auton
3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
3:4 paj gar oikoj kataskeuazetai upo tinoj o de ta panta kataskeuasaj qeoj 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
3:5 Et Moyses quidem fidelis erat in tota domo ejus tamquam famulus, in testimonium eorum, quæ dicenda erant: 3:5 kai mwshj men pistoj en olw tw oikw autou wj qerapwn eij marturion twn lalhqhsomenwn 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
3:6 Christus vero tamquam filius in domo sua: quæ domus sumus nos, si fiduciam, et gloriam spei usque ad finem, firmam retineamus. 3:6 xristoj de wj uioj epi ton oikon autou ou oikoj esmen hmeij eanper thn parrhsian kai to kauxhma thj elpidoj mexri telouj bebaian katasxwmen 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
3:7 Quapropter sicut dicit Spiritus Sanctus: Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis, 3:7 dio kaqwj legei to pneuma to agion shmeron ean thj fwnhj autou akoushte 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
3:8 nolite obdurare corda vestra, sicut in exacerbatione secundum diem tentationis in deserto, 3:8 mh sklhrunhte taj kardiaj umwn wj en tw parapikrasmw kata thn hmeran tou peirasmou en th erhmw 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

Hebrews 3:10 quadraginta annis: propter quod infensus fui generationi huic, et dixi: Semper errant corde. Ipsi autem non cognoverunt vias meas, Hebrews 3:10 dio proswxqisa th genea ekeinh kai eipon aei planwntai th kardia autoi de ouk egnwsan taj odouj mou
Hebrews 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
3:11 sicut juravi in ira mea: Si introibunt in requiem meam. 3:11 wj wmosa en th orgh mou ei eiseleusontai eij thn katapausin mou 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
3:12 Videte fratres, ne forte sit in aliquo vestrum cor malum incredulitatis, discedendi a Deo vivo: 3:12 blepete adelfoi mhpote estai en tini umwn kardia ponhra apistiaj en tw aposthnai apo qeou zwntoj 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
3:13 alla parakaleite eautouj kaq ekasthn hmeran axrij ou to shmeron kaleitai ina mh sklhrunqh tij ec umwn apath thj amartiaj 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
3:14 Participes enim Christi effecti sumus, si tamen initium substantiæ ejus usque ad finem firmum retineamus. 3:14 metoxoi gar gegonamen tou xristou eanper thn arxhn thj upostasewj mexri telouj bebaian katasxwmen 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
3:15 Dum dicitur: Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis, nolite obdurare corda vestra, quemadmodum in illa exacerbatione. 3:15 en tw legesqai shmeron ean thj fwnhj autou akoushte mh sklhrunhte taj kardiaj umwn wj en tw parapikrasmw 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
3:16 tinej gar akousantej parepikranan all ou pantej oi ecelqontej ec aiguptou dia mwsewj 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
3:17 tisin de proswxqisen tessarakonta eth ouxi toij amarthsasin wn ta kwla epesen en th erhmw 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
3:19 kai blepomen oti ouk hdunhqhsan eiselqein di apistian 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
