HEBREWS CHAPTER 9

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Hebrews 9:1 Habuit quidem et prius justificationes culturæ, et Sanctum sæculare. Hebrews 9:1 eixen men oun kai h prwth dikaiwmata latreiaj to te agion kosmikon Hebrews 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
9:2 skhnh gar kateskeuasqh h prwth en h h te luxnia kai h trapeza kai h proqesij twn artwn htij legetai agia 9:2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
9:3 Post velamentum autem secundum, tabernaculum, quod dicitur Sancta sanctorum: 9:3 meta de to deuteron katapetasma skhnh h legomenh agia agiwn 9:3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
9:4 aureum habens thuribulum, et arcam testamenti circumtectam ex omni parte auro, in qua urna aurea habens manna, et virga Aaron, quæ fronduerat, et tabulæ testamenti, 9:4 xrusoun exousa qumiathrion kai thn kibwton thj diaqhkhj perikekalummenhn pantoqen xrusiw en h stamnoj xrush exousa to manna kai h rabdoj aarwn h blasthsasa kai ai plakej thj diaqhkhj 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was he golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
9:5 uperanw de authj xeroubim dochj kataskiazonta to ilasthrion peri wn ouk estin nun legein kata meroj 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
9:6 His vero ita compositis, in priori quidem tabernaculo semper introibant sacerdotes, sacrificiorum officia consummantes: 9:6 toutwn de outwj kateskeuasmenwn eij men thn prwthn skhnhn diapantoj eisiasin oi iereij taj latreiaj epitelountej 9:6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
9:7 in secundo autem semel in anno solus pontifex non sine sanguine, quem offert pro sua et populi ignorantia: 9:7 eij de thn deuteran apac tou eniautou monoj o arxiereuj ou xwrij aimatoj o prosferei uper eautou kai twn tou laou agnohmatwn 9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
9:8 hoc significante Spiritu Sancto, nondum propalatam esse sanctorum viam, adhuc priore tabernaculo habente statum: 9:8 touto dhlountoj tou pneumatoj tou agiou mhpw pefanerwsqai thn twn agiwn odon eti thj prwthj skhnhj exoushj stasin 9:8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
9:9 quæ parabola est temporis instantis: juxta quam munera, et hostiæ offeruntur, quæ non possunt juxta conscientiam perfectum facere servientem, solummodo in cibis, et in potibus, 9:9 htij parabolh eij ton kairon ton enesthkota kaq on dwra te kai qusiai prosferontai mh dunamenai kata suneidhsin teleiwsai ton latreuonta 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Hebrews 9:10 monon epi brwmasin kai pomasin kai diaforoij baptismoij kai dikaiwmasin sarkoj mexri kairou diorqwsewj epikeimena Hebrews 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
9:11 Christus autem assistens pontifex futurorum bonorum, per amplius et perfectius tabernaculum, non manufactum, id est, non hujus creationis: 9:11 xristoj de paragenomenoj arxiereuj twn mellontwn agaqwn dia thj meizonoj kai teleioteraj skhnhj ou xeiropoihtou tout estin ou tauthj thj ktisewj 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
9:12 oude di aimatoj tragwn kai mosxwn dia de tou idiou aimatoj eishlqen efapac eij ta agia aiwnian lutrwsin euramenoj 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
9:13 Si enim sanguis hircorum et taurorum, et cinis vitulæ aspersus inquinatos sanctificat ad emundationem carnis: 9:13 ei gar to aima taurwn kai tragwn kai spodoj damalewj rantizousa touj kekoinwmenouj agiazei proj thn thj sarkoj kaqarothta 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
9:14 quanto magis sanguis Christi, qui per Spiritum Sanctum semetipsum obtulit immaculatum Deo, emundabit conscientiam nostram ab operibus mortuis, ad serviendum Deo viventi? 9:14 posw mallon to aima tou xristou oj dia pneumatoj aiwniou eauton proshnegken amwmon tw qew kaqariei thn suneidhsin umwn apo nekrwn ergwn eij to latreuein qew zwnti 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
9:15 kai dia touto diaqhkhj kainhj mesithj estin opwj qanatou genomenou eij apolutrwsin twn epi th prwth diaqhkh parabasewn thn epaggelian labwsin oi keklhmenoi thj aiwniou klhronomiaj 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
9:16 opou gar diaqhkh qanaton anagkh feresqai tou diaqemenou 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
9:17 diaqhkh gar epi nekroij bebaia epei mhpote isxuei ote zh o diaqemenoj 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
9:18 oqen oud h prwth xwrij aimatoj egkekainistai 9:18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
9:19 Lecto enim omni mandato legis a Moyse universo populo, accipiens sanguinem vitulorum et hircorum cum aqua, et lana coccinea, et hyssopo, ipsum quoque librum, et omnem populum aspersit, 9:19 lalhqeishj gar pashj entolhj kata nomon upo mwusewj panti tw law labwn to aima twn mosxwn kai tragwn meta udatoj kai eriou kokkinou kai usswpou auto te to biblion kai panta ton laon errantisen 9:19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
Hebrews 9:20 legwn touto to aima thj diaqhkhj hj eneteilato proj umaj o qeoj Hebrews 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
9:21 kai thn skhnhn de kai panta ta skeuh thj leitourgiaj tw aimati omoiwj errantisen 9:21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
9:22 kai sxedon en aimati panta kaqarizetai kata ton nomon kai xwrij aimatekxusiaj ou ginetai afesij 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
9:23 anagkh oun ta men upodeigmata twn en toij ouranoij toutoij kaqarizesqai auta de ta epourania kreittosin qusiaij para tautaj 9:23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
9:24 Non enim in manufacta Sancta Jesus introivit exemplaria verorum: sed in ipsum cælum, ut appareat nunc vultui Dei pro nobis: 9:24 ou gar eij xeiropoihta agia eishlqen o xristoj antitupa twn alhqinwn all eij auton ton ouranon nun emfanisqhnai tw proswpw tou qeou uper hmwn 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
9:25 neque ut sæpe offerat semetipsum, quemadmodum pontifex intrat in Sancta per singulos annos in sanguine alieno: 9:25 oud ina pollakij prosferh eauton wsper o arxiereuj eiserxetai eij ta agia kat eniauton en aimati allotriw 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
9:26 epei edei auton pollakij paqein apo katabolhj kosmou nun de apac epi sunteleia twn aiwnwn eij aqethsin amartiaj dia thj qusiaj autou pefanerwtai 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
9:27 Et quemadmodum statutum est hominibus semel mori, post hoc autem judicium: 9:27 kai kaq oson apokeitai toij anqrwpoij apac apoqanein meta de touto krisij 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
9:28 sic et Christus semel oblatus est ad multorum exhaurienda peccata: secundo sine peccato apparebit exspectantibus se, in salutem. 9:28 outwj o xristoj apac prosenexqeij eij to pollwn anenegkein amartiaj ek deuterou xwrij amartiaj ofqhsetai toij auton apekdexomenoij eij swthrian 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
