1 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 10

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
1 Corinthians 10:1 Nolo enim vos ignorare fratres, quoniam patres nostri omnes sub nube fuerunt, et omnes mare transierunt, 1 Corinthians 10:1 ou qelw de umaj agnoein adelfoi oti oi paterej hmwn pantej upo thn nefelhn hsan kai pantej dia thj qalasshj dihlqon 1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
10:2 et omnes in Moyse baptizati sunt in nube, et in mari: 10:2 kai pantej eij ton mwshn ebaptisanto en th nefelh kai en th qalassh 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
10:3 et omnes eamdem escam spiritalem manducaverunt, 10:3 kai pantej to auto brwma pneumatikon efagon 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
10:4 et omnes eumdem potum spiritalem biberunt (bibebant autem de spiritali, consequente eos, petra: petra autem erat Christus): 10:4 kai pantej to auto poma pneumatikon epion epinon gar ek pneumatikhj akolouqoushj petraj h de petra hn o xristoj 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
10:5 all ouk en toij pleiosin autwn eudokhsen o qeoj katestrwqhsan gar en th erhmw 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
10:6 tauta de tupoi hmwn egenhqhsan eij to mh einai hmaj epiqumhtaj kakwn kaqwj kakeinoi epequmhsan 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
10:7 mhde eidwlolatrai ginesqe kaqwj tinej autwn wj gegraptai ekaqisen o laoj fagein kai piein kai anesthsan paizein 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
10:8 mhde porneuwmen kaqwj tinej autwn eporneusan kai epeson en mia hmera eikositreij xiliadej 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
10:9 Neque tentemus Christum, sicut quidam eorum tentaverunt, et a serpentibus perierunt. 10:9 mhde ekpeirazwmen ton xriston kaqwj kai tinej autwn epeirasan kai upo twn ofewn apwlonto 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1 Corinthians 10:10 mhde gogguzete kaqwj kai tinej autwn egoggusan kai apwlonto upo tou oloqreutou 1 Corinthians 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11 tauta de panta tupoi sunebainon ekeinoij egrafh de proj nouqesian hmwn eij ouj ta telh twn aiwnwn kathnthsen 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
10:12 wste o dokwn estanai blepetw mh pesh 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
10:13 peirasmoj umaj ouk eilhfen ei mh anqrwpinoj pistoj de o qeoj oj ouk easei umaj peirasqhnai uper o dunasqe alla poihsei sun tw peirasmw kai thn ekbasin tou dunasqai umaj upenegkein 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
10:14 Propter quod, carissimi mihi, fugite ab idolorum cultura: 10:14 dioper agaphtoi mou feugete apo thj eidwlolatreiaj 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
10:15 wj fronimoij legw krinate umeij o fhmi 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
10:16 to pothrion thj eulogiaj o eulogoumen ouxi koinwnia tou aimatoj tou xristou estin ton arton on klwmen ouxi koinwnia tou swmatoj tou xristou estin 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
10:17 oti eij artoj en swma oi polloi esmen oi gar pantej ek tou enoj artou metexomen 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
10:18 blepete ton israhl kata sarka ouxi oi esqiontej taj qusiaj koinwnoi tou qusiasthriou eisin 10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
10:19 ti oun fhmi oti eidwlon ti estin h oti eidwloquton ti estin 10:19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
Nolo autem vos socios fieri dæmoniorum: 1 Corinthians 10:20 all oti a quei ta eqnh daimonioij quei kai ou qew ou qelw de umaj koinwnouj twn daimoniwn ginesqai 1 Corinthians 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
10:21 ou dunasqe pothrion kuriou pinein kai pothrion daimoniwn ou dunasqe trapezhj kuriou metexein kai trapezhj daimoniwn 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
10:22 An æmulamur Dominum? numquid fortiores illo sumus? Omnia mihi licent, sed non omnia expediunt. 10:22 h parazhloumen ton kurion mh isxuroteroi autou esmen 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

10:29 suneidhsin de legw ouxi thn eautou alla thn tou eterou ina ti gar h eleuqeria mou krinetai upo allhj suneidhsewj 10:29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
