2 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 2

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
2 Corinthians 2:1 ekrina de emautw touto to mh palin elqein en luph proj umaj 2 Corinthians 2:1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
2:2 Si enim ego contristo vos: et quis est, qui me lætificet, nisi qui contristatur ex me? 2:2 ei gar egw lupw umaj kai tij estin o eufrainwn me ei mh o lupoumenoj ec emou 2:2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
2:3 kai egraya umin touto auto ina mh elqwn luphn exw af wn edei me xairein pepoiqwj epi pantaj umaj oti h emh xara pantwn umwn estin 2:3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
2:4 ek gar pollhj qliyewj kai sunoxhj kardiaj egraya umin dia pollwn dakruwn oux ina luphqhte alla thn agaphn ina gnwte hn exw perissoterwj eij umaj 2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
2:5 ei de tij leluphken ouk eme leluphken all apo merouj ina mh epibarw pantaj umaj 2:5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
2:6 Sufficit illi, qui ejusmodi est, objurgatio hæc, quæ fit a pluribus: 2:6 ikanon tw toioutw h epitimia auth h upo twn pleionwn 2:6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
2:7 wste tounantion mallon umaj xarisasqai kai parakalesai mhpwj th perissotera luph katapoqh o toioutoj 2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2:8 dio parakalw umaj kurwsai eij auton agaphn 2:8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
2:9 eij touto gar kai egraya ina gnw thn dokimhn umwn ei eij panta uphkooi este 2:9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
2 Corinthians 2:10 Cui autem aliquid donastis, et ego: nam et ego quod donavi, si quid donavi, propter vos in persona Christi, 2 Corinthians 2:10 w de ti xarizesqe kai egw kai gar egw ei ti kexarismai w kexarismai di umaj en proswpw xristou 2 Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom i forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
2:11 ina mh pleonekthqwmen upo tou satana ou gar autou ta nohmata agnooumen 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2:12 Cum venissem autem Troadem propter Evangelium Christi, et ostium mihi apertum esset in Domino, 2:12 elqwn de eij thn trwada eij to euaggelion tou xristou kai quraj moi anewgmenhj en kuriw 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
2:13 ouk esxhka anesin tw pneumati mou tw mh eurein me titon ton adelfon mou alla apotacamenoj autoij echlqon eij makedonian 2:13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
2:14 Deo autem gratias, qui semper triumphat nos in Christo Jesu, et odorem notitiæ suæ manifestat per nos in omni loco: 2:14 tw de qew xarij tw pantote qriambeuonti hmaj en tw xristw kai thn osmhn thj gnwsewj autou fanerounti di hmwn en panti topw 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
2:15 quia Christi bonus odor sumus Deo in iis qui salvi fiunt, et in his qui pereunt: 2:15 oti xristou euwdia esmen tw qew en toij swzomenoij kai en toij apollumenoij 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
2:16 aliis quidem odor mortis in mortem: aliis autem odor vitæ in vitam. Et ad hæc quis tam idoneus? 2:16 oij men osmh qanatou eij qanaton oij de osmh zwhj eij zwhn kai proj tauta tij ikanoj 2:16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
2:17 ou gar esmen wj oi polloi kaphleuontej ton logon tou qeou all wj ec eilikrineiaj all wj ek qeou katenwpion tou qeou en xristw laloumen 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
