2 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 10

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
2 Corinthians 10:1 autoj de egw pauloj parakalw umaj dia thj praothtoj kai epieikeiaj tou xristou oj kata proswpon men tapeinoj en umin apwn de qarrw eij umaj 2 Corinthians 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
10:2 Rogo autem vos ne præsens audeam per eam confidentiam, qua existimor audere in quosdam, qui arbitrantur nos tamquam secundum carnem ambulemus. 10:2 deomai de to mh parwn qarrhsai th pepoiqhsei h logizomai tolmhsai epi tinaj touj logizomenouj hmaj wj kata sarka peripatountaj 10:2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
10:3 en sarki gar peripatountej ou kata sarka strateuomeqa 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
10:4 Nam arma militiæ nostræ non carnalia sunt, sed potentia Deo ad destructionem munitionum, consilia destruentes, 10:4 ta gar opla thj strateiaj hmwn ou sarkika alla dunata tw qew proj kaqairesin oxurwmatwn 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
10:5 et omnem altitudinem extollentem se adversus scientiam Dei, et in captivitatem redigentes omnem intellectum in obsequium Christi, 10:5 logismouj kaqairountej kai pan uywma epairomenon kata thj gnwsewj tou qeou kai aixmalwtizontej pan nohma eij thn upakohn tou xristou 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
10:6 kai en etoimw exontej ekdikhsai pasan parakohn otan plhrwqh umwn h upakoh 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
10:7 ta kata proswpon blepete ei tij pepoiqen eautw xristou einai touto logizesqw palin af eautou oti kaqwj autoj xristou outwj kai hmeij xristou 10:7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
10:8 ean te gar kai perissoteron ti kauxhswmai peri thj ecousiaj hmwn hj edwken o kurioj hmin eij oikodomhn kai ouk eij kaqairesin umwn ouk aisxunqhsomai 10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
10:9 Ut autem non existimer tamquam terrere vos per epistolas: 10:9 ina mh docw wj an ekfobein umaj dia twn epistolwn 10:9 That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
2 Corinthians 10:10 quoniam quidem epistolæ, inquiunt, graves sunt et fortes: præsentia autem corporis infirma, et sermo contemptibilis: 2 Corinthians 10:10 oti ai men epistolai fhsin bareiai kai isxurai h de parousia tou swmatoj asqenhj kai o logoj ecouqenhmenoj 2 Corinthians 10:10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
10:11 touto logizesqw o toioutoj oti oioi esmen tw logw di epistolwn apontej toioutoi kai parontej tw ergw 10:11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
10:12 ou gar tolmwmen egkrinai h sugkrinai eautouj tisin twn eautouj sunistanontwn alla autoi en eautoij eautouj metrountej kai sugkrinontej eautouj eautoij ou suniousin 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
10:13 hmeij de ouxi eij ta ametra kauxhsomeqa alla kata to metron tou kanonoj ou emerisen hmin o qeoj metrou efikesqai axri kai umwn 10:13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

10:17 Qui autem gloriatur, in Domino glorietur. 10:17 o de kauxwmenoj en kuriw kauxasqw 10:17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
10:18 ou gar o eauton sunistwn ekeinoj estin dokimoj all on o kurioj sunisthsin 10:18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
