2 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 5

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
2 Corinthians 5:1 oidamen gar oti ean h epigeioj hmwn oikia tou skhnouj kataluqh oikodomhn ek qeou exomen oikian axeiropoihton aiwnion en toij ouranoij 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
5:2 Nam et in hoc ingemiscimus, habitationem nostram, quæ de cælo est, superindui cupientes: 5:2 kai gar en toutw stenazomen to oikhthrion hmwn to ec ouranou ependusasqai epipoqountej 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
5:3 si tamen vestiti, non nudi inveniamur. 5:3 eige kai endusamenoi ou gumnoi eureqhsomeqa 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
5:4 kai gar oi ontej en tw skhnei stenazomen baroumenoi ef w ou qelomen ekdusasqai all ependusasqai ina katapoqh to qnhton upo thj zwhj 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5:5 o de katergasamenoj hmaj eij auto touto qeoj o kai douj hmin ton arrabwna tou pneumatoj 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
5:6 Audentes igitur semper, scientes quoniam dum sumus in corpore, peregrinamur a Domino 5:6 qarrountej oun pantote kai eidotej oti endhmountej en tw swmati ekdhmoumen apo tou kuriou 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
5:7 (per fidem enim ambulamus, et non per speciem): 5:7 dia pistewj gar peripatoumen ou dia eidouj 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
5:8 qarroumen de kai eudokoumen mallon ekdhmhsai ek tou swmatoj kai endhmhsai proj ton kurion 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
5:9 Et ideo contendimus, sive absentes, sive præsentes, placere illi. 5:9 dio kai filotimoumeqa eite endhmountej eite ekdhmountej euarestoi autw einai 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2 Corinthians 5:10 touj gar pantaj hmaj fanerwqhnai dei emprosqen tou bhmatoj tou xristou ina komishtai ekastoj ta dia tou swmatoj proj a epracen eite agaqon eite kakon 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
5:11 eidotej oun ton fobon tou kuriou anqrwpouj peiqomen qew de pefanerwmeqa elpizw de kai en taij suneidhsesin umwn pefanerwsqai 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
5:12 ou gar palin eautouj sunistanomen umin alla aformhn didontej umin kauxhmatoj uper hmwn ina exhte proj touj en proswpw kauxwmenouj kai ou kardia 5:12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
5:13 Sive enim mente excedimus Deo: sive sobrii sumus, vobis. 5:13 eite gar ecesthmen qew eite swfronoumen umin 5:13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
5:15 et pro omnibus mortuus est Christus: ut, et qui vivunt, jam non sibi vivant, sed ei qui pro ipsis mortuus est et resurrexit. 5:15 kai uper pantwn apeqanen ina oi zwntej mhketi eautoij zwsin alla tw uper autwn apoqanonti kai egerqenti 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
5:16 wste hmeij apo tou nun oudena oidamen kata sarka ei de kai egnwkamen kata sarka xriston alla nun ouketi ginwskomen 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
5:17 Si qua ergo in Christo nova creatura, vetera transierunt: ecce facta sunt omnia nova. 5:17 wste ei tij en xristw kainh ktisij ta arxaia parhlqen idou gegonen kaina ta panta 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

5:19 quoniam quidem Deus erat in Christo mundum reconcilians sibi, non reputans illis delicta ipsorum, et posuit in nobis verbum reconciliationis. 5:19 wj oti qeoj hn en xristw kosmon katallasswn eautw mh logizomenoj autoij ta paraptwmata autwn kai qemenoj en hmin ton logon thj katallaghj 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:20 Pro Christo ergo legatione fungimur, tamquam Deo exhortante per nos. Obsecramus pro Christo, reconciliamini Deo. 2 Corinthians 5:20 uper xristou oun presbeuomen wj tou qeou parakalountoj di hmwn deomeqa uper xristou katallaghte tw qew 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
