ROMANS CHAPTER 13

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Romans 13:1 Omnis anima potestatibus sublimioribus subdita sit: non est enim potestas nisi a Deo: quæ autem sunt, a Deo ordinatæ sunt. Romans 13:1 pasa yuxh ecousiaij uperexousaij upotassesqw ou gar estin ecousia ei mh apo qeou ai de ousai ecousiai upo tou qeou tetagmenai eisin Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
13:2 Itaque qui resistit potestati, Dei ordinationi resistit. Qui autem resistunt, ipsi sibi damnationem acquirunt: 13:2 wste o antitassomenoj th ecousia th tou qeou diatagh anqesthken oi de anqesthkotej eautoij krima lhyontai 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
13:3 nam principes non sunt timori boni operis, sed mali. Vis autem non timere potestatem? Bonum fac: et habebis laudem ex illa: 13:3 oi gar arxontej ouk eisin foboj twn agaqwn ergwn alla twn kakwn qeleij de mh fobeisqai thn ecousian to agaqon poiei kai eceij epainon ec authj 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
13:4 Dei enim minister est tibi in bonum. Si autem malum feceris, time: non enim sine causa gladium portat. Dei enim minister est: vindex in iram ei qui malum agit. 13:4 qeou gar diakonoj estin soi eij to agaqon ean de to kakon poihj fobou ou gar eikh thn maxairan forei qeou gar diakonoj estin ekdikoj eij orghn tw to kakon prassonti 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
13:5 Ideo necessitate subditi estote non solum propter iram, sed etiam propter conscientiam. 13:5 dio anagkh upotassesqai ou monon dia thn orghn alla kai dia thn suneidhsin 13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
