Acts 6:1 In diebus illis, crescente numero discipulorum, factum est murmur Græcorum adversus Hebræos, eo quod despicerentur in ministerio quotidiano viduæ eorum. Acts 6:1 en de taij hmeraij tautaij plhqunontwn twn maqhtwn egeneto goggusmoj twn ellhnistwn proj touj ebraiouj oti pareqewrounto en th diakonia th kaqhmerinh ai xhrai autwn Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
6:2 Convocantes autem duodecim multitudinem discipulorum, dixerunt: Non est æquum nos derelinquere verbum Dei, et ministrare mensis. 6:2 proskalesamenoi de oi dwdeka to plhqoj twn maqhtwn eipon ouk areston estin hmaj kataleiyantaj ton logon tou qeou diakonein trapezaij 6:2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
6:3 Considerate ergo, fratres, viros ex vobis boni testimonii septem, plenos Spiritu Sancto et sapientia, quos constituamus super hoc opus. 6:3 episkeyasqe oun adelfoi andraj ec umwn marturoumenouj epta plhreij pneumatoj agiou kai sofiaj ouj katasthsomen epi thj xreiaj tauthj 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
6:4 Nos vero orationi et ministerio verbi instantes erimus. 6:4 hmeij de th proseuxh kai th diakonia tou logou proskarterhsomen 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
6:5 Et placuit sermo coram omni multitudine. Et elegerunt Stephanum, virum plenum fide et Spiritu Sancto, et Philippum, et Prochorum, et Nicanorem, et Timonem, et Parmenam, et Nicolaum advenam Antiochenum. 6:5 kai hresen o logoj enwpion pantoj tou plhqouj kai ecelecanto stefanon andra plhrh pistewj kai pneumatoj agiou kai filippon kai proxoron kai nikanora kai timwna kai parmenan kai nikolaon proshluton antioxea 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6:6 Hos statuerunt ante conspectum Apostolorum: et orantes imposuerunt eis manus. 6:6 ouj esthsan enwpion twn apostolwn kai proseucamenoi epeqhkan autoij taj xeiraj 6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
6:7 Et verbum Domini crescebat, et multiplicabatur numerus discipulorum in Jerusalem valde: multa etiam turba sacerdotum obediebat fidei. 6:7 kai o logoj tou qeou hucanen kai eplhquneto o ariqmoj twn maqhtwn en ierousalhm sfodra poluj te oxloj twn ierewn uphkouon th pistei 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
6:8 Stephanus autem plenus gratia et fortitudine, faciebat prodigia et signa magna in populo. 6:8 stefanoj de plhrhj pistewj kai dunamewj epoiei terata kai shmeia megala en tw law 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
6:9 Surrexerunt autem quidam de synagoga quæ appellatur Libertinorum, et Cyrenensium, et Alexandrinorum, et eorum qui erant a Cilicia, et Asia, disputantes cum Stephano: 6:9 anesthsan de tinej twn ek thj sunagwghj thj legomenhj libertinwn kai kurhnaiwn kai alecandrewn kai twn apo kilikiaj kai asiaj suzhtountej tw stefanw 6:9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
Acts 6:10 et non poterant resistere sapientiæ, et Spiritui qui loquebatur. Acts 6:10 kai ouk isxuon antisthnai th sofia kai tw pneumati w elalei Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
6:11 Tunc summiserunt viros, qui dicerent se audivisse eum dicentem verba blasphemiæ in Moysen et in Deum. 6:11 tote upebalon andraj legontaj oti akhkoamen autou lalountoj rhmata blasfhma eij mwshn kai ton qeon 6:11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
6:12 Commoverunt itaque plebem, et seniores, et scribas: et concurrentes rapuerunt eum, et adduxerunt in concilium, 6:12 sunekinhsan te ton laon kai touj presbuterouj kai touj grammateij kai epistantej sunhrpasan auton kai hgagon eij to sunedrion 6:12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
6:13 et statuerunt falsos testes, qui dicerent: Homo iste non cessat loqui verba adversus locum sanctum, et legem: 6:13 esthsan te marturaj yeudeij legontaj o anqrwpoj outoj ou pauetai rhmata blasfhma lalwn kata tou topou tou agiou toutou kai tou nomou 6:13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
6:14 audivimus enim eum dicentem quoniam Jesus Nazarenus hic destruet locum istum, et mutabit traditiones quas tradidit nobis Moyses. 6:14 akhkoamen gar autou legontoj oti ihsouj o nazwraioj outoj katalusei ton topon touton kai allacei ta eqh a paredwken hmin mwushj 6:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
6:15 Et intuentes eum omnes qui sedebant in concilio, viderunt faciem ejus tamquam faciem angeli. 6:15 kai atenisantej eij auton apantej oi kaqezomenoi en tw sunedriw eidon to proswpon autou wsei proswpon aggelou 6:15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
