Acts 20:1 meta de to pausasqai ton qorubon proskalesamenoj o pauloj touj maqhtaj kai aspasamenoj echlqen poreuqhnai eij thn makedonian Acts 20:1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.
20:2 Cum autem perambulasset partes illas, et exhortatus eos fuisset multo sermone, venit ad Græciam: 20:2 dielqwn de ta merh ekeina kai parakalesaj autouj logw pollw hlqen eij thn ellada 20:2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,
20:3 ubi cum fecisset menses tres, factæ sunt illi insidiæ a Judæis navigaturo in Syriam: habuitque consilium ut reverteretur per Macedoniam. 20:3 poihsaj te mhnaj treij genomenhj autw epiboulhj upo twn ioudaiwn mellonti anagesqai eij thn surian egeneto gnwmh tou upostrefein dia makedoniaj 20:3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.
20:4 Comitatus est autem eum Sopater Pyrrhi Berœensis, Thessalonicensium vero Aristarchus, et Secundus, et Gajus Derbeus, et Timotheus: Asiani vero Tychicus et Trophimus. 20:4 suneipeto de autw axri thj asiaj swpatroj beroiaioj qessalonikewn de aristarxoj kai sekoundoj kai gaioj derbaioj kai timoqeoj asianoi de tuxikoj kai trofimoj 20:4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
20:5 Hi cum præcessissent, sustinuerunt nos Troade: 20:5 outoi proelqontej emenon hmaj en trwadi 20:5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.
20:6 nos vero navigavimus post dies azymorum a Philippis, et venimus ad eos Troadem in diebus quinque, ubi demorati sumus diebus septem. 20:6 hmeij de ecepleusamen meta taj hmeraj twn azumwn apo filippwn kai hlqomen proj autouj eij thn trwada axrij hmerwn pente ou dietriyamen hmeraj epta 20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
20:7 Una autem sabbati cum convenissemus ad frangendum panem, Paulus disputabat cum eis profecturus in crastinum, protraxitque sermonem usque in mediam noctem. 20:7 en de th mia twn sabbatwn sunhgmenwn twn maqhtwn tou klasai arton o pauloj dielegeto autoij mellwn ecienai th epaurion pareteinen te ton logon mexri mesonuktiou 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
20:8 Erant autem lampades copiosæ in cœnaculo, ubi eramus congregati. 20:8 hsan de lampadej ikanai en tw uperww ou hsan sunhgmenoi 20:8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
20:9 Sedens autem quidam adolescens nomine Eutychus super fenestram, cum mergeretur somno gravi, disputante diu Paulo, ductus somno cecidit de tertio cœnaculo deorsum, et sublatus est mortuus. 20:9 kaqhmenoj de tij neaniaj onomati eutuxoj epi thj quridoj kataferomenoj upnw baqei dialegomenou tou paulou epi pleion katenexqeij apo tou upnou epesen apo tou tristegou katw kai hrqh nekroj 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
Acts 20:10 Ad quem cum descendisset Paulus, incubuit super eum: et complexus dixit: Nolite turbari, anima enim ipsius in ipso est. 20:11 Ascendens autem, frangensque panem, et gustans, satisque allocutus usque in lucem, sic profectus est. 20:11 anabaj de kai klasaj arton kai geusamenoj ef ikanon te omilhsaj axrij aughj outwj echlqen 20:11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
20:12 Adduxerunt autem puerum viventem, et consolati sunt non minime. 20:12 hgagon de ton paida zwnta kai pareklhqhsan ou metriwj 20:12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
20:13 Nos autem ascendentes navem, navigavimus in Asson, inde suscepturi Paulum: sic enim disposuerat ipse per terram iter facturus. 20:13 hmeij de proelqontej epi to ploion anhxqhmen eij thn asson ekeiqen mellontej analambanein ton paulon outwj gar hn diatetagmenoj mellwn autoj pezeuein 20:13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.
20:14 Cum autem convenisset nos in Asson, assumpto eo, venimus Mitylenen. 20:14 wj de sunebalen hmin eij thn asson analabontej auton hlqomen eij mitulhnhn 20:14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
20:15 Et inde navigantes, sequenti die venimus contra Chium, et alia applicuimus Samum, et sequenti die venimus Miletum. 20:15 kakeiqen apopleusantej th epioush kathnthsamen antikru xiou th de etera parebalomen eij samon kai meinantej en trwgulliw th exomenh hlqomen eij milhton 20:15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.
20:16 Proposuerat enim Paulus transnavigare Ephesum, ne qua mora illi fieret in Asia. Festinabat enim, si possibile sibi esset, ut diem Pentecostes faceret Jerosolymis. 20:16 ekrinen gar o pauloj parapleusai thn efeson opwj mh genhtai autw xronotribhsai en th asia espeuden gar ei dunaton hn autw thn hmeran thj penthkosthj genesqai eij ierosoluma 20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
20:17 A Mileto autem mittens Ephesum, vocavit majores natu ecclesiæ. 20:17 apo de thj milhtou pemyaj eij efeson metekalesato touj presbuterouj thj ekklhsiaj 20:17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
20:18 Qui cum venissent ad eum, et simul essent, dixit eis: Vos scitis a prima die qua ingressus sum in Asiam, qualiter vobiscum per omne tempus fuerim, 20:18 wj de paregenonto proj auton eipen autoij umeij epistasqe apo prwthj hmeraj af hj epebhn eij thn asian pwj meq umwn ton panta xronon egenomhn 20:18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
20:19 serviens Domino cum omni humilitate, et lacrimis, et tentationibus, quæ mihi acciderunt ex insidiis Judæorum: 20:19 douleuwn tw kuriw meta pashj tapeinofrosunhj kai pollwn dakruwn kai peirasmwn twn sumbantwn moi en taij epiboulaij twn ioudaiwn 20:19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
Acts 20:20 quomodo nihil subtraxerim utilium, quominus annuntiarem vobis et docerem vos, publice et per domos, Acts 20:20 wj ouden upesteilamhn twn sumferontwn tou mh anaggeilai umin kai didacai umaj dhmosia kai kat oikouj Acts 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
20:21 testificans Judæis atque gentilibus in Deum pœnitentiam, et fidem in Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum. 20:21 diamarturomenoj ioudaioij te kai ellhsin thn eij ton qeon metanoian kai pistin thn eij ton kurion hmwn ihsoun xriston 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
20:22 Et nunc ecce alligatus ego spiritu, vado in Jerusalem: quæ in ea ventura sint mihi, ignorans: 20:22 kai nun idou egw dedemenoj tw pneumati poreuomai eij ierousalhm ta en auth sunanthsonta moi mh eidwj 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
20:23 nisi quod Spiritus Sanctus per omnes civitates mihi protestatur, dicens quoniam vincula et tribulationes Jerosolymis me manent. 20:23 plhn oti to pneuma to agion kata polin diamarturetai legon oti desma me kai qliyeij menousin 20:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
20:24 Sed nihil horum vereor: nec facio animam meam pretiosiorem quam me, dummodo consummem cursum meum, et ministerium verbi quod accepi a Domino Jesu, testificari Evangelium gratiæ Dei. 20:24 all oudenoj logon poioumai oude exw thn yuxhn mou timian emautw wj teleiwsai ton dromon mou meta xaraj kai thn diakonian hn elabon para tou kuriou ihsou diamarturasqai to euaggelion thj xaritoj tou qeou 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
20:25 Et nunc ecce ego scio quia amplius non videbitis faciem meam vos omnes, per quos transivi prædicans regnum Dei. 20:25 kai nun idou egw oida oti ouketi oyesqe to proswpon mou umeij pantej en oij dihlqon khrusswn thn basileian tou qeou 20:25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
20:26 Quapropter contestor vos hodierna die, quia mundus sum a sanguine omnium. 20:26 dio marturomai umin en th shmeron hmera oti kaqaroj egw apo tou aimatoj pantwn 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
20:27 Non enim subterfugi, quominus annuntiarem omne consilium Dei vobis. 20:27 ou gar upesteilamhn tou mh anaggeilai umin pasan thn boulhn tou qeou 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
20:28 Attendite vobis, et universo gregi, in quo vos Spiritus Sanctus posuit episcopos regere ecclesiam Dei, quam acquisivit sanguine suo. 20:28 prosexete oun eautoij kai panti tw poimniw en w umaj to pneuma to agion eqeto episkopouj poimainein thn ekklhsian tou qeou hn periepoihsato dia tou idiou aimatoj 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
20:29 Ego scio quoniam intrabunt post discessionem meam lupi rapaces in vos, non parcentes gregi. 20:29 egw gar oida touto oti eiseleusontai meta thn aficin mou lukoi bareij eij umaj mh feidomenoi tou poimniou 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Acts 20:30 Et ex vobisipsis exsurgent viri loquentes perversa, ut abducant discipulos post se. Acts 20:30 kai ec umwn autwn anasthsontai andrej lalountej diestrammena tou apospan touj maqhtaj opisw autwn Acts 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
20:31 Propter quod vigilate, memoria retinentes quoniam per triennium nocte et die non cessavi, cum lacrimis monens unumquemque vestrum. 20:31 dio grhgoreite mnhmoneuontej oti trietian nukta kai hmeran ouk epausamhn meta dakruwn nouqetwn ena ekaston 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
20:32 Et nunc commendo vos Deo, et verbo gratiæ ipsius, qui potens est ædificare, et dare hæreditatem in sanctificatis omnibus. 20:32 kai ta nun paratiqemai umaj adelfoi tw qew kai tw logw thj xaritoj autou tw dunamenw epoikodomhsai kai dounai umin klhronomian en toij hgiasmenoij pasin 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
20:33 Argentum, et aurum, aut vestem nullius concupivi, sicut 20:33 arguriou h xrusiou h imatismou oudenoj epequmhsa 20:33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.
20:34 ipsi scitis: quoniam ad ea quæ mihi opus erant, et his qui mecum sunt, ministraverunt manus istæ. 20:34 autoi de ginwskete oti taij xreiaij mou kai toij ousin met emou uphrethsan ai xeirej autai 20:34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
20:35 Omnia ostendi vobis, quoniam sic laborantes, oportet suscipere infirmos ac meminisse verbi Domini Jesu: quoniam ipse dixit: Beatius est magis dare, quam accipere. 20:35 panta upedeica umin oti outwj kopiwntaj dei antilambanesqai twn asqenountwn mnhmoneuein te twn logwn tou kuriou ihsou oti autoj eipen makarion estin didonai mallon h lambanein 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
20:36 Et cum hæc dixisset, positis genibus suis oravit cum omnibus illis. 20:36 kai tauta eipwn qeij ta gonata autou sun pasin autoij proshucato 20:36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.
20:37 Magnus autem fletus factus est omnium: et procumbentes super collum Pauli, osculabantur eum, 20:37 ikanoj de egeneto klauqmoj pantwn kai epipesontej epi ton traxhlon tou paulou katefiloun auton 20:37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,
20:38 dolentes maxime in verbo quod dixerat, quoniam amplius faciem ejus non essent visuri. Et deducebant eum ad navem. 20:38 odunwmenoi malista epi tw logw w eirhkei oti ouketi mellousin to proswpon autou qewrein proepempon de auton eij to ploion 20:38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
