MARK CHAPTER 9
The first verse in this chapter was the last verse of Mark Chapter 8 in the Vulgate. All the verses in Chapter 9 in the Vulgate have been increased by one in order to line up with the Textus Receptus and the King James Version.

| 9:16 Et interrogavit eos: Quid inter vos conquiritis? | 9:16 καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν τοῦς γραμματεῖς, τί συζητεῖτε πρὸς αὐτούς | 9:16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? |
| 9:17 Et respondens unus de turba, dixit: Magister, attuli filium meum ad te habentem spiritum mutum: | 9:17 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἷς ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπεν διδάσκαλε ἤνεγκα τὸν υἱόν μου πρὸς σέ ἔχοντα πνεῦμα ἄλαλον | 9:17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; |
| 9:18 qui ubicumque eum apprehenderit, allidit illum, et spumat, et stridet dentibus, et arescit: et dixi discipulis tuis ut ejicerent illum, et non potuerunt. | 9:18 καὶ ὅπου ἂν αὐτὸν καταλάβῃ ῥήσσει αὐτόν καὶ ἀφρίζει καὶ τρίζει τοὺς ὀδόντας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ξηραίνεται καὶ εἶπον τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου ἵνα αὐτὸ ἐκβάλωσιν καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν | 9:18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. |

| Mark 9:20 Et attulerunt eum. At ille ait: Ab infantia: | 9:21 καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ πόσος χρόνος ἐστὶν ὡς τοῦτο γέγονεν αὐτῷ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν παιδιόθεν | 9:21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. |
| 9:22 et frequenter eum in ignem, et in aquas misit ut eum perderet: sed si quid potes, adjuva nos, misertus nostri. | 9:22 καὶ πολλάκις αὐτὸν καὶ εἰς πῦρ ἔβαλεν καὶ εἰς ὕδατα ἵνα ἀπολέσῃ αὐτόν ἀλλ᾽ εἴ τι δύνασαι, βοήθησον ἡμῖν σπλαγχνισθεὶς ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς | 9:22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. |
| 9:23 Jesus autem ait illi: Si potes credere, omnia possibilia sunt credenti. | 9:23 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὸ εἰ δύνασαι πιστεῦσαι, πάντα δυνατὰ τῷ πιστεύοντι | 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. |
| 9:24 Et continuo exclamans pater pueri, cum lacrimis aiebat: Credo, Domine; adjuva incredulitatem meam. | 9:24 καὶ εὐθὲως κράξας ὁ πατὴρ τοῦ παιδίου μετὰ δακρύων ἔλεγεν πιστεύω κύριε βοήθει μου τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ | 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. |
| 9:25 Et cum videret Jesus concurrentem turbam, comminatus est spiritui immundo, dicens illi: Surde et mute spiritus, ego præcipio tibi, exi ab eo: et amplius ne introëas in eum. | 9:25 ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐπισυντρέχει ὄχλος ἐπετίμησεν τῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἀκαθάρτῳ λέγων αὐτῷ, τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἄλαλον καὶ κωφὸν ἐγὼ σοι ἐπιτάσσω ἔξελθε ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ μηκέτι εἰσέλθῃς εἰς αὐτόν | 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. |
| 9:26 Et exclamans, et multum discerpens eum, exiit ab eo, et factus est sicut mortuus, ita ut multi dicerent: Quia mortuus est. | 9:26 καὶ κράξαν, καὶ πολλὰ σπαράξαν αὐτὸν, ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἐγένετο ὡσεὶ νεκρός ὥστε πολλοὺς λέγειν ὅτι ἀπέθανεν | 9:26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. |
| 9:27 Jesus autem tenens manum ejus elevavit eum, et surrexit. | 9:27 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς κρατήσας αὐτόν τῆς χειρὸς ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀνέστη | 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. |
| 9:28 Et cum introisset in domum, discipuli ejus secreto interrogabant eum: Quare nos non potuimus ejicere eum? | 9:28 καὶ εἰσελθόντα αὐτόν εἰς οἶκον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπηρώτων αὐτὸν κατ᾽ ἰδίαν ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν ἐκβαλεῖν αὐτό | 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? |
| 9:29 Et dixit illis: Hoc genus in nullo potest exire, nisi in oratione et jejunio. | 9:29 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς τοῦτο τὸ γένος ἐν οὐδενὶ δύναται ἐξελθεῖν εἰ μὴ ἐν προσευχῇ καὶ νηστείᾳ | 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. |
| Mark 9:30 Et inde profecti prætergrediebantur Galilæam: nec volebat quemquam scire. | Mark 9:30 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἐξελθόντες παρεπορεύοντο διὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ οὐκ ἤθελεν ἵνα τις γνῶ | Mark 9:30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. |
| 9:31 Docebat autem discipulos suos, et dicebat illis: Quoniam Filius hominis tradetur in manus hominum, et occident eum, et occisus tertia die resurget. | 9:31 ἐδίδασκεν γὰρ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν καὶ ἀποκτανθεὶς τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἀναστήσεται | 9:31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. |
| 9:32 At illi ignorabant verbum: et timebant interrogare eum. | 9:32 οἱ δὲ ἠγνόουν τὸ ῥῆμα καὶ ἐφοβοῦντο αὐτὸν ἐπερωτῆσαι | 9:32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. |
| 9:33 Et venerunt Capharnaum. Qui cum domi essent, interrogabat eos: Quid in via tractabatis? | 9:33 καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς καπερναούμ καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ γενόμενος ἐπηρώτα αὐτούς τί ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς διελογίζεσθε | 9:33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? |
| 9:34 At illi tacebant: siquidem in via inter se disputaverunt: quis eorum major esset. | 9:34 οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων πρὸς ἀλλήλους γὰρ διελέχθησαν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τίς μείζων | 9:34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. |
| 9:35 Et residens vocavit duodecim, et ait illis: Si quis vult primus esse, erit omnium novissimus, et omnium minister. | 9:35 καὶ καθίσας ἐφώνησεν τοὺς δώδεκα καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς εἴ τις θέλει πρῶτος εἶναι ἔσται πάντων ἔσχατος καὶ πάντων διάκονος | 9:35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. |
| 9:36 Et accipiens puerum, statuit eum in medio eorum: quem cum complexus esset, ait illis: | 9:36 καὶ λαβὼν παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐναγκαλισάμενος αὐτὸ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς | 9:36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, |
| 9:37 Quisquis unum ex hujusmodi pueris receperit in nomine meo, me recipit: et quicumque me susceperit, non me suscipit, sed eum qui misit me. | 9:37 ὃς ἐὰν ἓν τῶν τοιούτων παιδίων δέξηται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου ἐμὲ δέχεται καὶ ὃς ἐὰν ἐμὲ δέξηται οὐκ ἐμὲ δέχεται ἀλλὰ τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με | 9:37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. |
| 9:38 Respondit illi Joannes, dicens: Magister, vidimus quemdam in nomine tuo ejicientem dæmonia, qui non sequitur nos, et prohibuimus eum. | 9:38 ἀπεκρίθη δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ ἰωάννης λέγων, διδάσκαλε εἴδομέν τινα τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια ὃς οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ ἡμῖν καὶ ἐκωλύσαμεν αὐτόν ὅτι οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ ἡμῖν | 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. |
| 9:39 Jesus autem ait: Nolite prohibere eum: nemo est enim qui faciat virtutem in nomine meo, et possit cito male loqui de me: | 9:39 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν μὴ κωλύετε αὐτόν οὐδεὶς γάρ ἐστιν ὃς ποιήσει δύναμιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ δυνήσεται ταχὺ κακολογῆσαί με | 9:39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. |

| 9:41 Quisquis enim potum dederit vobis calicem aquæ in nomine meo, quia Christi estis: amen dico vobis, non perdet mercedem suam. | 9:41 ὃς γὰρ ἂν ποτίσῃ ὑμᾶς ποτήριον ὕδατος ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι μου, ὅτι χριστοῦ ἐστε ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσῃ τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ | 9:41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. |
| 9:42 Et quisquis scandalizaverit unum ex his pusillis credentibus in me: bonum est ei magis si circumdaretur mola asinaria collo ejus, et in mare mitteretur. | 9:42 καὶ ὃς ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ καλόν ἐστιν αὐτῷ μᾶλλον εἰ περίκειται λὶθος μύλικὸς περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ βέβληται εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν | 9:42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. |
| 9:43 Et si scandalizaverit te manus tua, abscide illam: bonum est tibi debilem introire in vitam, quam duas manus habentem ire in gehennam, in ignem inextinguibilem, | 9:43 καὶ ἐὰν σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἡ χείρ σου ἀπόκοψον αὐτήν καλόν σοι ἐστίν κυλλὸν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν ἢ τὰς δύο χεῖρας ἔχοντα ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἄσβεστον | 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: |
| 9:44 ubi vermis eorum non moritur, et ignis non extinguitur. | 9:44 ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ, καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται | 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. |
| 9:45 Et si pes tuus te scandalizat, amputa illum: bonum est tibi claudum introire in vitam æternam, quam duos pedes habentem mitti in gehennam ignis inextinguibilis, | 9:45 καὶ ἐὰν ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἀπόκοψον αὐτόν καλόν ἐστίν σοι εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν χωλὸν ἢ τοὺς δύο πόδας ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἄσβεστον, | 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: |
| 9:46 ubi vermis eorum non moritur, et ignis non extinguitur. | 9:46 ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ, καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται | 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. |
| 9:47 Quod si oculus tuus scandalizat te, ejice eum: bonum est tibi luscum introire in regnum Dei, quam duos oculos habentem mitti in gehennam ignis, | 9:47 καὶ ἐὰν ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἔκβαλε αὐτόν καλόν σοι ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρὸς, | 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: |
| 9:48 ubi vermis eorum non moritur, et ignis non extinguitur. | 9:48 ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται | 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. |
| 9:49 Omnis enim igne salietur, et omnis victima sale salietur. | 9:49 πᾶς γὰρ πυρὶ ἁλισθήσεται καὶ πᾶσα θυσία ἀλὶ ἁλισθήσεται, | 9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. |
