Mark 10:1 kakeiqen anastaj erxetai eij ta oria thj ioudaiaj dia tou peran tou iordanou kai sumporeuontai palin oxloi proj auton kai wj eiwqei palin edidasken autouj Mark 10:1 And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.
10:2 Et accedentes pharisæi interrogabant eum: Si licet vero uxorem dimittere: tentantes eum. 10:2 kai proselqontej oi farisaioi ephrwthsan auton ei ecestin andri gunaika apolusai peirazontej auton 10:2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
10:3 At ille respondens, dixit eis: Quid vobis præcepit Moyses? 10:3 o de apokriqeij eipen autoij ti umin eneteilato mwshj 10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
10:4 Qui dixerunt: Moyses permisit libellum repudii scribere, et dimittere. 10:4 oi de eipon mwshj epetreyen biblion apostasiou grayai kai apolusai 10:4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
10:5 Quibus respondens Jesus, ait: Ad duritiam cordis vestri scripsit vobis præceptum istud: 10:5 kai apokriqeij o ihsouj eipen autoij proj thn sklhrokardian umwn egrayen umin thn entolhn tauthn 10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
10:6 ab initio autem creaturæ masculum et feminam fecit eos Deus. 10:6 apo de arxhj ktisewj arsen kai qhlu epoihsen autouj o qeoj 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
10:7 Propter hoc relinquet homo patrem suum et matrem, et adhærebit ad uxorem suam: 10:7 eneken toutou kataleiyei anqrwpoj ton patera autou kai thn mhtera kai proskollhqhsetai proj thn gunaika autou 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
10:8 et erunt duo in carne una. Itaque jam non sunt duo, sed una caro. 10:8 kai esontai oi duo eij sarka mian wste ouketi eisin duo alla mia sarc 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
10:9 Quod ergo Deus conjunxit, homo non separet. 10:9 o oun o qeoj sunezeucen anqrwpoj mh xwrizetw 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Mark 10:10 Et in domo iterum discipuli ejus de eodem interrogaverunt eum. Mark 10:10 kai en th oikia palin oi maqhtai autou peri tou autou ephrwthsan auton Mark 10:10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
10:11 Et ait illis: Quicumque dimiserit uxorem suam, et aliam duxerit, adulterium committit super eam. 10:11 kai legei autoij oj ean apolush thn gunaika autou kai gamhsh allhn moixatai ep authn 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
10:12 Et si uxor dimiserit virum suum, et alii nupserit, mœchatur. 10:12 kai ean gunh apolush ton andra authj kai gamhqh allw moixatai 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
10:13 Et offerebant illi parvulos ut tangeret illos. Discipuli autem comminabantur offerentibus. 10:13 kai proseferon autw paidia ina ayhtai autwn oi de maqhtai epetimwn toij prosferousin 10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
10:14 Quos cum videret Jesus, indigne tulit, et ait illis: Sinite parvulos venire ad me, et ne prohibueritis eos: talium enim est regnum Dei. 10:14 idwn de o ihsouj hganakthsen kai eipen autoij afete ta paidia erxesqai proj me kai mh kwluete auta twn gar toioutwn estin h basileia tou qeou 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
10:15 Amen dico vobis: Quisquis non receperit regnum Dei velut parvulus, non intrabit in illud. 10:15 amhn legw umin oj ean mh dechtai thn basileian tou qeou wj paidion ou mh eiselqh eij authn 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
10:16 Et complexans eos, et imponens manus super illos, benedicebat eos. 10:16 kai enagkalisamenoj auta tiqeij taj xeiraj ep auta hulogei auta 10:16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
10:17 Et cum egressus esset in viam, procurrens quidam genu flexo ante eum, rogabat eum: Magister bone, quid faciam ut vitam æternam percipiam? 10:17 kai ekporeuomenou autou eij odon prosdramwn eij kai gonupethsaj auton ephrwta auton didaskale agaqe ti poihsw ina zwhn aiwnion klhronomhsw 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
10:18 Jesus autem dixit ei: Quid me dicis bonum? nemo bonus, nisi unus Deus. 10:18 o de ihsouj eipen autw ti me legeij agaqon oudeij agaqoj ei mh eij o qeoj 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
10:19 Præcepta nosti: ne adulteres, ne occidas, ne fureris, ne falsum testimonium dixeris, ne fraudum feceris, honora patrem tuum et matrem. 10:19 taj entolaj oidaj mh moixeushj mh foneushj mh kleyhj mh yeudomarturhshj mh aposterhshj tima ton patera sou kai thn mhtera 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
Mark 10:20 At ille respondens, ait illi: Magister, hæc omnia observavi a juventute mea. Mark 10:20 o de apokriqeij eipen autw didaskale tauta panta efulacamhn ek neothtoj mou Mark 10:20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
10:21 Jesus autem intuitus eum, dilexit eum, et dixit ei: Unum tibi deest: vade, quæcumque habes vende, et da pauperibus, et habebis thesaurum in cælo: et veni, sequere me. 10:21 o de ihsouj embleyaj autw hgaphsen auton kai eipen autw en soi usterei upage osa exeij pwlhson kai doj toij ptwxoij kai eceij qhsauron en ouranw kai deuro akolouqei moi araj ton stauron 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
10:22 Qui contristatus in verbo, abiit mœrens: erat enim habens multas possessiones. 10:22 o de stugnasaj epi tw logw aphlqen lupoumenoj hn gar exwn kthmata polla 10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
10:23 Et circumspiciens Jesus, ait discipulis suis: Quam difficile qui pecunias habent, in regnum Dei introibunt! 10:23 kai peribleyamenoj o ihsouj legei toij maqhtaij autou pwj duskolwj oi ta xrhmata exontej eij thn basileian tou qeou eiseleusontai 10:23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
10:24 Discipuli autem obstupescebant in verbis ejus. At Jesus rursus respondens ait illis: Filioli, quam difficile est, confidentes in pecuniis, in regnum Dei introire! 10:24 oi de maqhtai eqambounto epi toij logoij autou o de ihsouj palin apokriqeij legei autoij tekna pwj duskolon estin touj pepoiqotaj epi toij xrhmasin eij thn basileian tou qeou eiselqein 10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
10:25 Facilius est camelum per foramen acus transire, quam divitem intrare in regnum Dei. 10:25 eukopwteron estin kamhlon dia thj trumaliaj thj rafidoj dielqein h plousion eij thn basileian tou qeou eiseqein 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
10:26 Qui magis admirabantur, dicentes ad semetipsos: Et quis potest salvus fieri? 10:26 oi de perisswj eceplhssonto legontej proj eautouj kai tij dunatai swqhnai 10:26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
10:27 Et intuens illos Jesus, ait: Apud homines impossibile est, sed non apud Deum: omnia enim possibilia sunt apud Deum. 10:27 embleyaj de autoij o ihsouj legei para anqrwpoij adunaton all ou para tw qew panta gar dunata estin para tw qew 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
10:28 Et cœpit ei Petrus dicere: Ecce nos dimisimus omnia, et secuti sumus te. 10:28 kai hrcato o petroj legein autw idou hmeij afhkamen panta kai hkolouqhsamen soi 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
10:29 Respondens Jesus, ait: Amen dico vobis: Nemo est qui reliquerit domum, aut fratres, aut sorores, aut patrem, aut matrem, aut filios, aut agros propter me et propter Evangelium, 10:29 apokriqeij de o ihsouj eipen amhn legw umin oudeij estin oj afhken oikian h adelfouj h adelfaj h patera h mhtera h gunaika h tekna h agrouj eneken emou kai tou euaggeliou 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
Mark 10:30 qui non accipiat centies tantum, nunc in tempore hoc: domos, et fratres, et sorores, et matres, et filios, et agros, cum persecutionibus, et in sæculo futuro vitam æternam. 10:31 Multi autem erunt primi novissimi, et novissimi primi. 10:31 polloi de esontai prwtoi esxatoi kai oi esxatoi prwtoi 10:31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
10:32 Erant autem in via ascendentes Jerosolymam: et præcedebat illos Jesus, et stupebant: et sequentes timebant. Et assumens iterum duodecim, cœpit illis dicere quæ essent ei eventura. 10:32 hsan de en th odw anabainontej eij ierosoluma kai hn proagwn autouj o ihsouj kai eqambounto kai akolouqountej efobounto kai paralabwn palin touj dwdeka hrcato autoij legein ta mellonta autw sumbainein 10:32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
10:33 Quia ecce ascendimus Jerosolymam, et Filius hominis tradetur principibus sacerdotum, et scribis, et senioribus, et damnabunt eum morte, et tradent eum gentibus: 10:33 oti idou anabainomen eij ierosoluma kai o uioj tou anqrwpou paradoqhsetai toij arxiereusin kai toij grammateusin kai katakrinousin auton qanatw kai paradwsousin auton toij eqnesin 10:33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
10:34 et illudent ei, et conspuent eum, et flagellabunt eum, et interficient eum: et tertia die resurget. 10:34 kai empaicousin autw kai mastigwsousin auton kai emptusousin autw kai apoktenousin auton kai th trith hmera anasthsetai 10:34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
10:35 Et accedunt ad eum Jacobus et Joannes filii Zebedæi, dicentes: Magister, volumus ut quodcumque petierimus, facias nobis. 10:35 kai prosporeuontai autw iakwboj kai iwannhj oi uioi zebedaiou legontej didaskale qelomen ina o ean aithswmen poihshj hmin 10:35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
10:36 At ille dixit eis: Quid vultis ut faciam vobis? 10:36 o de eipen autoij ti qelete poihsai me umin 10:36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
10:37 Et dixerunt: Da nobis ut unus ad dexteram tuam, et alius ad sinistram tuam sedeamus in gloria tua. 10:37 oi de eipon autw doj hmin ina eij ek deciwn sou kai eij ec euwnumwn sou kaqiswmen en th doch sou 10:37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
10:38 Jesus autem ait eis: Nescitis quid petatis: potestis bibere calicem, quem ego bibo, aut baptismo, quo ego baptizor, baptizari? 10:38 o de ihsouj eipen autoij ouk oidate ti aiteisqe dunasqe piein to pothrion o egw pinw kai to baptisma o egw baptizomai baptisqhnai 10:38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
10:39 At illi dixerunt ei: Possumus. Jesus autem ait eis: Calicem quidem, quem ego bibo, bibetis; et baptismo, quo ego baptizor, baptizabimini: 10:39 oi de eipon autw dunameqa o de ihsouj eipen autoij to men pothrion o egw pinw piesqe kai to baptisma o egw baptizomai baptisqhsesqe 10:39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
Mark 10:40 sedere autem ad dexteram meam, vel ad sinistram, non est meum dare vobis, sed quibus paratum est. Mark 10:40 to de kaqisai ek deciwn mou kai ec euwnumwn mou ouk estin emon dounai all oij htoimastai Mark 10:40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
10:41 Et audientes decem, cœperunt indignari de Jacobo et Joanne. 10:41 kai akousantej oi deka hrcanto aganaktein peri iakwbou kai iwannou 10:41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
10:42 Jesus autem vocans eos, ait illis: Scitis quia hi, qui videntur principari gentibus, dominantur eis: et principes eorum potestatem habent ipsorum. 10:42 o de ihsouj proskalesamenoj autouj legei autoij oidate oti oi dokountej arxein twn eqnwn katakurieuousin autwn kai oi megaloi autwn katecousiazousin autwn 10:42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
10:43 Non ita est autem in vobis, sed quicumque voluerit fieri major, erit vester minister: 10:43 oux outwj de estai en umin all oj ean qelh genesqai megaj en umin estai diakonoj umwn 10:43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
10:44 et quicumque voluerit in vobis primus esse, erit omnium servus. 10:44 kai oj an qelh umwn genesqai prwtoj estai pantwn douloj 10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
10:45 Nam et Filius hominis non venit ut ministraretur ei, sed ut ministraret, et daret animam suam redemptionem pro multis. 10:45 kai gar o uioj tou anqrwpou ouk hlqen diakonhqhnai alla diakonhsai kai dounai thn yuxhn autou lutron anti pollwn 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
10:46 Et veniunt Jericho: et proficiscente eo de Jericho, et discipulis ejus, et plurima multitudine, filius Timæi Bartimæus cæcus, sedebat juxta viam mendicans. 10:46 kai erxontai eij ierixw kai ekporeuomenou autou apo ierixw kai twn maqhtwn autou kai oxlou ikanou uioj timaiou bartimaioj o tufloj ekaqhto para thn odon prosaitwn 10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
10:47 Qui cum audisset quia Jesus Nazarenus est, cœpit clamare, et dicere: Jesu fili David, miserere mei. 10:47 kai akousaj oti ihsouj o nazwraioj estin hrcato krazein kai legein o uioj dabid ihsou elehson me 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
10:48 Et comminabantur ei multi ut taceret. At ille multo magis clamabat: Fili David, miserere mei. 10:48 kai epetimwn autw polloi ina siwphsh o de pollw mallon ekrazen uie dabid elehson me 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
10:49 Et stans Jesus præcepit illum vocari. Et vocant cæcum, dicentes ei: Animæquior esto: surge, vocat te. 10:49 kai staj o ihsouj eipen auton fwnhqhnai kai fwnousin ton tuflon legontej autw qarsei egeirai fwnei se 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Mark 10:50 Qui projecto vestimento suo exiliens, venit ad eum. Mark 10:50 o de apobalwn to imation autou anastaj hlqen proj ton ihsoun Mark 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
10:51 Et respondens Jesus dixit illi: Quid tibi vis faciam? Cæcus autem dixit ei: Rabboni, ut videam. 10:51 kai apokriqeij legei autw o ihsouj ti qeleij poihsw soi o de tufloj eipen autw rabboni ina anableyw 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
10:52 Jesus autem ait illi: Vade, fides tua te salvum fecit. Et confestim vidit, et sequebatur eum in via. 10:52 o de ihsouj eipen autw upage h pistij sou seswken se kai euqewj anebleyen kai hkolouqei tw ihsou en th odw 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
