Luke 5:1 egeneto de en tw ton oxlon epikeisqai autw tou akouein ton logon tou qeou kai autoj hn estwj para thn limnhn gennhsaret Luke 5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
5:2 kai eiden duo ploia estwta para thn limnhn oi de alieij apobantej ap autwn apeplunan ta diktua 5:2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
5:3 embaj de eij en twn ploiwn o hn tou simwnoj hrwthsen auton apo thj ghj epanagagein oligon kai kaqisaj edidasken ek tou ploiou touj oxlouj
5:3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
5:4 wj de epausato lalwn eipen proj ton simwna epanagage eij to baqoj kai xalasate ta diktua umwn eij agran 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5:5 kai apokriqeij o simwn eipen autw epistata di olhj thj nuktoj kopiasantej ouden elabomen epi de tw rhmati sou xalasw to diktuon 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
5:6 kai touto poihsantej sunekleisan ixquwn plhqoj polu dierrhgnuto de to diktuon autwn 5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
5:7 kai kateneusan toij metoxoij toij en tw eterw ploiw tou elqontaj sullabesqai autoij kai hlqon kai eplhsan amfotera ta ploia wste buqizesqai auta
5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
5:8 idwn de simwn petroj prosepesen toij gonasin tou ihsou legwn ecelqe ap emou oti anhr amartwloj eimi kurie 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
5:9 qamboj gar periesxen auton kai pantaj touj sun autw epi th agra twn ixquwn h sunelabon 5:9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
Luke 5:10 omoiwj de kai iakwbon kai iwannhn uiouj zebedaiou oi hsan koinwnoi tw simwni kai eipen proj ton simwna o ihsouj mh fobou apo tou nun anqrwpouj esh zwgrwn Luke 5:10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
5:11 kai katagagontej ta ploia epi thn ghn afentej apanta hkolouqhsan autw 5:11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
5:12 kai egeneto en tw einai auton en mia twn polewn kai idou anhr plhrhj lepraj kai idwn ton ihsoun peswn epi proswpon edehqh autou legwn kurie ean qelhj dunasai me kaqarisai 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
5:13 kai ekteinaj thn xeira hyato autou eipwn qelw kaqarisqhti kai euqewj h lepra aphlqen ap autou 5:13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
5:14 kai autoj parhggeilen autw mhdeni eipein alla apelqwn deicon seauton tw ierei kai prosenegke peri tou kaqarismou sou kaqwj prosetacen mwshj eij marturion autoij 5:14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
5:15 dihrxeto de mallon o logoj peri autou kai sunhrxonto oxloi polloi akouein kai qerapeuesqai up autou apo twn asqeneiwn autwn 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
5:16 autoj de hn upoxwrwn en taij erhmoij kai proseuxomenoj 5:16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
5:17 kai egeneto en mia twn hmerwn kai autoj hn didaskwn kai hsan kaqhmenoi farisaioi kai nomodidaskaloi oi hsan elhluqotej ek pashj kwmhj thj galilaiaj kai ioudaiaj kai ierousalhm kai dunamij kuriou hn eij to iasqai autouj 5:17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
5:18 kai idou andrej ferontej epi klinhj anqrwpon oj hn paralelumenoj kai ezhtoun auton eisenegkein kai qeinai enwpion autou
5:18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
5:19 kai mh eurontej dia poiaj eisenegkwsin auton dia ton oxlon anabantej epi to dwma dia twn keramwn kaqhkan auton sun tw klinidiw eij to meson emprosqen tou ihsou
5:19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
Luke 5:20 kai idwn thn pistin autwn eipen autw anqrwpe afewntai soi ai amartiai sou Luke 5:20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
5:21 kai hrcanto dialogizesqai oi grammateij kai oi farisaioi legontej tij estin outoj oj lalei blasfhmiaj tij dunatai afienai amartiaj ei mh monoj o qeoj 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
5:22 epignouj de o ihsouj touj dialogismouj autwn apokriqeij eipen proj autouj ti dialogizesqe en taij kardiaij umwn 5:22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
5:23 ti estin eukopwteron eipein afewntai soi ai amartiai sou h eipein egeirai kai peripatei 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
5:24 ina de eidhte oti ecousian exei o uioj tou anqrwpou epi thj ghj afienai amartiaj eipen tw paralelumenw soi legw egeirai kai araj to klinidion sou poreuou eij ton oikon sou 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
5:25 kai paraxrhma anastaj enwpion autwn araj ef w katekeito aphlqen eij ton oikon autou docazwn ton qeon 5:25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
5:26 kai ekstasij elaben apantaj kai edocazon ton qeon kai eplhsqhsan fobou legontej oti eidomen paradoca shmeron 5:26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
5:27 kai meta tauta echlqen kai eqeasato telwnhn onomati leuin kaqhmenon epi to telwnion kai eipen autw akolouqei moi
5:27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
5:28 kai katalipwn apanta anastaj hkolouqhsen autw 5:28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
5:29 kai epoihsen doxhn megalhn o leuij autw en th oikia autou kai hn oxloj telwnwn poluj kai allwn oi hsan met autwn katakeimenoi 5:29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
Luke 5:30 kai egogguzon oi grammateij autwn kai oi farisaioi proj touj maqhtaj autou legontej dia ti meta telwnwn kai amartwlwn esqiete kai pinete Luke 5:30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
5:31 kai apokriqeij o ihsouj eipen proj autouj ou xreian exousin oi ugiainontej iatrou all oi kakwj exontej 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
5:32 ouk elhluqa kalesai dikaiouj alla amartwlouj eij metanoian 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
5:33 oi de eipon proj auton dia ti oi maqhtai iwannou nhsteuousin pukna kai dehseij poiountai omoiwj kai oi twn farisaiwn oi de soi esqiousin kai pinousin 5:33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
5:34 o de eipen proj autouj mh dunasqe touj uiouj tou numfwnoj en w o numfioj met autwn estin poihsai nhsteuein 5:34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
5:35 eleusontai de hmerai kai otan aparqh ap autwn o numfioj tote nhsteusousin en ekeinaij taij hmeraij 5:35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
5:36 elegen de kai parabolhn proj autouj oti oudeij epiblhma imatiou kainou epiballei epi imation palaion ei de mhge kai to kainon sxizei kai tw palaiw ou sumfwnei epiblhma to apo tou kainou 5:36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
5:37 kai oudeij ballei oinon neon eij askouj palaiouj ei de mhge rhcei o neoj oinoj touj askouj kai autoj ekxuqhsetai kai oi askoi apolountai 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
5:38 alla oinon neon eij askouj kainouj blhteon kai amfoteroi sunthrountai 5:38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
5:39 kai oudeij piwn palaion euqewj qelei neon legei gar o palaioj xrhstoteroj estin 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
