Luke 12:1 en oij episunaxqeiswn twn muriadwn tou oxlou wste katapatein allhlouj hrcato legein proj touj maqhtaj autou prwton prosexete eautoij apo thj zumhj twn farisaiwn htij estin upokrisij Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
12:2 ouden de sugkekalummenon estin o ouk apokalufqhsetai kai krupton o ou gnwsqhsetai 12:2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
12:3 anq wn osa en th skotia eipate en tw fwti akousqhsetai kai o proj to ouj elalhsate en toij tameioij khruxqhsetai epi twn dwmatwn 12:3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
12:4 legw de umin toij filoij mou mh fobhqhte apo twn apokteinontwn to swma kai meta tauta mh exontwn perissoteron ti poihsai 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
12:5 upodeicw de umin tina fobhqhte fobhqhte ton meta to apokteinai ecousian exonta embalein eij thn geennan nai legw umin touton fobhqhte 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
12:6 ouxi pente strouqia pwleitai assariwn duo kai en ec autwn ouk estin epilelhsmenon enwpion tou qeou 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
12:7 alla kai ai trixej thj kefalhj umwn pasai hriqmhntai mh oun fobeisqe pollwn strouqiwn diaferete 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
12:8 legw de umin paj oj an omologhsh en emoi emprosqen twn anqrwpwn kai o uioj tou anqrwpou omologhsei en autw emprosqen twn aggelwn tou qeou 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
12:9 o de arnhsamenoj me enwpion twn anqrwpwn aparnhqhsetai enwpion twn aggelwn tou qeou 12:9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
Luke 12:10 kai paj oj erei logon eij ton uion tou anqrwpou afeqhsetai autw tw de eij to agion pneuma blasfhmhsanti ouk afeqhsetai Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
12:11 otan de prosferwsin umaj epi taj sunagwgaj kai taj arxaj kai taj ecousiaj mh merimnate pwj h ti apologhshsqe h ti eiphte 12:11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12:12 to gar agion pneuma didacei umaj en auth th wra a dei eipein 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
12:13 eipen de tij autw ek tou oxlou didaskale eipe tw adelfw mou merisasqai met emou thn klhronomian 12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
12:14 o de eipen autw anqrwpe tij me katesthsen dikasthn h meristhn ef umaj 12:14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
12:15 eipen de proj autouj orate kai fulassesqe apo thj pleoneciaj oti ouk en tw perisseuein tini h zwh autou estin ek twn uparxontwn autou 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
12:16 eipen de parabolhn proj autouj legwn anqrwpou tinoj plousiou euforhsen h xwra 12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
12:17 kai dielogizeto en eautw legwn ti poihsw oti ouk exw pou sunacw touj karpouj mou 12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
12:18 kai eipen touto poihsw kaqelw mou taj apoqhkaj kai meizonaj oikodomhsw kai sunacw ekei panta ta genhmata mou kai ta agaqa mou 12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
12:19 kai erw th yuxh mou yuxh exeij polla agaqa keimena eij eth polla anapauou fage pie eufrainou 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Luke 12:20 eipen de autw o qeoj afron tauth th nukti thn yuxhn sou apaitousin apo sou a de htoimasaj tini estai Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
12:21 outwj o qhsaurizwn eautw kai mh eij qeon ploutwn 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
12:22 eipen de proj touj maqhtaj autou dia touto umin legw mh merimnate th yuxh umwn ti faghte mhde tw swmati ti endushsqe 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
12:23 h yuxh pleion estin thj trofhj kai to swma tou endumatoj 12:23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
12:24 katanohsate touj korakaj oti ou speirousin oude qerizousin oij ouk estin tameion oude apoqhkh kai o qeoj trefei autouj posw mallon umeij diaferete twn peteinwn 12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
12:25 tij de ec umwn merimnwn dunatai prosqeinai epi thn hlikian autou phxun ena 12:25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
12:26 ei oun oute elaxiston dunasqe ti peri twn loipwn merimnate 12:26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
12:27 katanohsate ta krina pwj aucanei ou kopia oude nhqei legw de umin oude solomwn en pash th doch autou periebaleto wj en toutwn 12:27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
12:28 ei de ton xorton en tw agrw shmeron onta kai aurion eij klibanon ballomenon o qeoj outwj amfiennusin posw mallon umaj oligopistoi 12:28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
12:29 kai umeij mh zhteite ti faghte h ti pihte kai mh metewrizesqe 12:29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
Luke 12:30 tauta gar panta ta eqnh tou kosmou epizhtei umwn de o pathr oiden oti xrhzete toutwn Luke 12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
12:31 plhn zhteite thn basileian tou qeou kai tauta panta prosteqhsetai umin 12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
12:32 mh fobou to mikron poimnion oti eudokhsen o pathr umwn dounai umin thn basileian 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
12:33 pwlhsate ta uparxonta umwn kai dote elehmosunhn poihsate eautoij balantia mh palaioumena qhsauron anekleipton en toij ouranoij opou klepthj ouk eggizei oude shj diafqeirei 12:33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
12:34 opou gar estin o qhsauroj umwn ekei kai h kardia umwn estai 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
12:35 estwsan umwn ai osfuej periezwsmenai kai oi luxnoi kaiomenoi 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
12:36 kai umeij omoioi anqrwpoij prosdexomenoij ton kurion eautwn pote analusei ek twn gamwn ina elqontoj kai krousantoj euqewj anoicwsin autw 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
12:37 makarioi oi douloi ekeinoi ouj elqwn o kurioj eurhsei grhgorountaj amhn legw umin oti perizwsetai kai anaklinei autouj kai parelqwn diakonhsei autoij 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily i say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
12:38 kai ean elqh en th deutera fulakh kai en th trith fulakh elqh kai eurh outwj makarioi eisin oi douloi ekeinoi 12:38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
12:39 touto de ginwskete oti ei hdei o oikodespothj poia wra o klepthj erxetai egrhgorhsen an kai ouk an afhken diorughnai ton oikon autou 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
Luke 12:40 kai umeij oun ginesqe etoimoi oti h wra ou dokeite o uioj tou anqrwpou erxetai Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
12:41 eipen de autw o petroj kurie proj hmaj thn parabolhn tauthn legeij h kai proj pantaj 12:41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
12:42 eipen de o kurioj tij ara estin o pistoj oikonomoj kai fronimoj on katasthsei o kurioj epi thj qerapeiaj autou tou didonai en kairw to sitometrion 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
12:43 makarioj o douloj ekeinoj on elqwn o kurioj autou eurhsei poiounta outwj 12:43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
12:44 alhqwj legw umin oti epi pasin toij uparxousin autou katasthsei auton 12:44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
12:45 ean de eiph o douloj ekeinoj en th kardia autou xronizei o kurioj mou erxesqai kai archtai tuptein touj paidaj kai taj paidiskaj esqiein te kai pinein kai mequskesqai 12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
12:46 hcei o kurioj tou doulou ekeinou en hmera h ou prosdoka kai en wra h ou ginwskei kai dixotomhsei auton kai to meroj autou meta twn apistwn qhsei 12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
12:47 ekeinoj de o douloj o gnouj to qelhma tou kuriou eautou kai mh etoimasaj mhde poihsaj proj to qelhma autou darhsetai pollaj 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
12:48 o de mh gnouj poihsaj de acia plhgwn darhsetai oligaj panti de w edoqh polu polu zhthqhsetai par autou kai w pareqento polu perissoteron aithsousin auton 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
12:49 pur hlqon balein eij thn ghn kai ti qelw ei hdh anhfqh 12:49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
Luke 12:50 baptisma de exw baptisqhnai kai pwj sunexomai ewj ou telesqh Luke 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
12:51 dokeite oti eirhnhn paregenomhn dounai en th gh ouxi legw umin all h diamerismon 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
12:52 esontai gar apo tou nun pente en oikw eni diamemerismenoi treij epi dusin kai duo epi trisin 12:52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
12:53 diamerisqhsetai pathr ef uiw kai uioj epi patri mhthr epi qugatri kai qugathr epi mhtri penqera epi thn numfhn authj kai numfh epi thn penqeran authj 12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
12:54 elegen de kai toij oxloij otan idhte thn nefelhn anatellousan apo dusmwn euqewj legete ombroj erxetai kai ginetai outwj 12:54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
12:55 kai otan noton pneonta legete oti kauswn estai kai ginetai 12:55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
12:56 upokritai to proswpon tou ouranou kai thj ghj oidate dokimazein ton de kairon touton pwj ou dokimazete 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
12:57 ti de kai af eautwn ou krinete to dikaion 12:57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
12:58 wj gar upageij meta tou antidikou sou ep arxonta en th odw doj ergasian aphllaxqai ap autou mhpote katasurh se proj ton krithn kai o krithj se paradw tw praktori kai o praktwr se ballh eij fulakhn 12:58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
12:59 legw soi ou mh ecelqhj ekeiqen ewj ou kai to esxaton lepton apodwj 12:59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
