Luke Chapter 13

Greek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Luke 13:1 παρῆσαν δέ τινες ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ καιρῷ ἀπαγγέλλοντες αὐτῷ περὶ τῶν γαλιλαίων ὧν τὸ αἷμα πιλᾶτος ἔμιξεν μετὰ τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν Luke 13:1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
13:2 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς δοκεῖτε ὅτι οἱ γαλιλαῖοι οὗτοι ἁμαρτωλοὶ παρὰ πάντας τοὺς γαλιλαίους ἐγένοντο ὅτι τοιαῦτα πεπόνθασιν 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
13:3 οὐχί λέγω ὑμῖν ἀλλ᾽ ἐὰν μὴ μετανοῆτε πάντες ὡσαύτως ἀπολεῖσθε 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
13:4 ἢ ἐκεῖνοι οἱ δεκα καὶ οκτὼ, ἐφ᾽ οὓς ἔπεσεν ὁ πύργος ἐν τῷ σιλωὰμ καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτούς δοκεῖτε ὅτι οὐτοὶ ὀφειλέται ἐγένοντο παρὰ πάντας ἀνθρώπους τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν ἰερουσαλήμ 13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
13:5 οὐχί λέγω ὑμῖν ἀλλ᾽ ἐὰν μὴ μετανοῆτε πάντες ὁμοίως ἀπολεῖσθε 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
13:6 ἕλεγεν δὲ ταύτην τὴν παραβολήν συκῆν εἶχέν τις ἐν τῷ ἀμπελῶνι αὐτοῦ πεφυτευμένην καὶ ἦλθεν καρπὸν ζητῶν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
13:7 εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἀμπελουργόν ἰδού, τρία ἔτη ἔρχομαι ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν τῇ συκῇ ταύτῃ καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκω ἔκκοψον αὐτήν ἱνατί καὶ τὴν γῆν καταργεῖ 13:7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
13:8 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς λέγει αὐτῷ κύριε ἄφες αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ἔτος ἕως ὅτου σκάψω περὶ αὐτὴν καὶ βάλω κόπριαν, 13:8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
13:9 κἂν μὲν ποιήσῃ καρπὸν εἰ δὲ μήγε, εἰς τὸ μέλλον ἐκκόψεις αὐτήν 13:9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Luke 13:10 ἦν δὲ διδάσκων ἐν μιᾷ τῶν συναγωγῶν ἐν τοῖς σάββασιν Luke 13:10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
13:11 καὶ ἰδού, γυνὴ ἦν πνεῦμα ἔχουσα ἀσθενείας ἔτη δέκα καὶ ὀκτὼ, καὶ ἦν συγκύπτουσα καὶ μὴ δυναμένη ἀνακύψαι εἰς τὸ παντελές 13:11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
13:12 ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὴν ὁ ἰησοῦς προσεφώνησεν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ γύναι ἀπολέλυσαι τῆς ἀσθενείας σου 13:12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13:13 καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτῇ τὰς χεῖρας καὶ παραχρῆμα ἀνωρθώθη καὶ ἐδόξαζεν τὸν θεόν 13:13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
13:14 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἀρχισυνάγωγος ἀγανακτῶν ὅτι τῷ σαββάτῳ ἐθεράπευσεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἓξ ἡμέραι εἰσὶν ἐν αἷς δεῖ ἐργάζεσθαι ἐν ταύταις οὖν ἐρχόμενοι θεραπεύεσθε καὶ μὴ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
13:15 ἀπεκρίθη οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος καὶ εἶπεν ὑποκριτά ἕκαστος ὑμῶν τῷ σαββάτῳ οὐ λύει τὸν βοῦν αὐτοῦ ἢ τὸν ὄνον ἀπὸ τῆς φάτνης καὶ ἀπαγαγὼν ποτίζει 13:15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
13:16 ταύτην δὲ θυγατέρα ἀβραὰμ οὖσαν ἣν ἔδησεν ὁ σατανᾶς ἰδού, δέκα καὶ ὀκτὼ ἔτη οὐκ ἔδει λυθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ δεσμοῦ τούτου τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
13:17 καὶ ταῦτα λέγοντος αὐτοῦ κατῃσχύνοντο πάντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι αὐτῷ καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἔχαιρεν ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐνδόξοις τοῖς γινομένοις ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ 13:17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
13:18 ἕλεγεν δὲ, τίνι ὁμοία ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τίνι ὁμοιώσω αὐτήν 13:18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
13:19 ὁμοία ἐστὶν κόκκῳ σινάπεως ὃν λαβὼν ἄνθρωπος ἔβαλεν εἰς κῆπον ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ηὔξησεν καὶ ἐγένετο εἰς δένδρον μέγα, καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατεσκήνωσεν ἐν τοῖς κλάδοις αὐτοῦ 13:19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
Luke 13:20 καὶ πάλιν εἶπεν τίνι ὁμοιώσω τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ Luke 13:20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
13:21 ὁμοία ἐστὶν ζύμῃ ἣν λαβοῦσα γυνὴ ἐνέκρυψεν εἰς ἀλεύρου σάτα τρία ἕως οὗ ἐζυμώθη ὅλον 13:21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
13:22 καὶ διεπορεύετο κατὰ πόλεις καὶ κώμας διδάσκων καὶ πορείαν ποιούμενος εἰς ἰερουσαλήμ 13:22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
13:23 εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ κύριε εἰ ὀλίγοι οἱ σῳζόμενοι ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
13:24 ἀγωνίζεσθε εἰσελθεῖν διὰ τῆς στενῆς πύλης ὅτι πολλοί λέγω ὑμῖν ζητήσουσιν εἰσελθεῖν καὶ οὐκ ἰσχύσουσιν 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
13:25 ἀφ᾽ οὗ ἂν ἐγερθῇ ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης καὶ ἀποκλείσῃ τὴν θύραν καὶ ἄρξησθε ἔξω ἑστάναι καὶ κρούειν τὴν θύραν λέγοντες κύριε κύριε, ἄνοιξον ἡμῖν καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ἐρεῖ ὑμῖν οὐκ οἶδα ὑμᾶς πόθεν ἐστέ 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
13:26 τότε ἄρξεσθε λέγειν ἐφάγομεν ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ ἐπίομεν καὶ ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις ἡμῶν ἐδίδαξας 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
13:27 καὶ ἐρεῖ λέγω ὑμῖν οὐκ οἶδα ὑμᾶς πόθεν ἐστέ ἀπόστητε ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ πάντες οἱ ἐργάται τῆς ἀδικίας 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
13:28 ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων ὅταν ὄψησθε ἀβραὰμ καὶ ἰσαὰκ καὶ ἰακὼβ καὶ πάντας τοὺς προφήτας ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμᾶς δὲ ἐκβαλλομένους ἔξω 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
13:29 καὶ ἥξουσιν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ δυσμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ βοῤῥᾶ καὶ νότου καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ 13:29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
Luke 13:30 καὶ ἰδού, εἰσὶν ἔσχατοι οἳ ἔσονται πρῶτοι καὶ εἰσὶν πρῶτοι οἳ ἔσονται ἔσχατοι Luke 13:30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
13:31 ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ἡμέρα προσῆλθόν τινες φαρισαῖοι λέγοντες αὐτῷ ἕξελθε καὶ πορεύου ἐντεῦθεν ὅτι ἡρῴδης θέλει σε ἀποκτεῖναι 13:31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.
13:32 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς πορευθέντες εἴπατε τῇ ἀλώπεκι ταύτῃ ἰδού, ἐκβάλλω δαιμόνια καὶ ἰάσεις ἐπιτελῶ σήμερον καὶ αὔριον καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ τελειοῦμαι 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
13:33 πλὴν δεῖ με σήμερον καὶ αὔριον καὶ τῇ ἐχομένῃ πορεύεσθαι ὅτι οὐκ ἐνδέχεται προφήτην ἀπολέσθαι ἔξω ἰερουσαλήμ 13:33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
13:34 ἰερουσαλὴμ ἰερουσαλήμ ἡ ἀποκτείνουσα τοὺς προφήτας καὶ λιθοβολοῦσα τοὺς ἀπεσταλμένους πρὸς αὐτήν ποσάκις ἠθέλησα ἐπισυνάξαι τὰ τέκνα σου ὃν τρόπον ὄρνις τὴν ἑαυτῆς νοσσιὰν ὑπὸ τὰς πτέρυγας καὶ οὐκ ἠθελήσατε 13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
13:35 ἰδού, ἀφίεται ὑμῖν ὁ οἶκος ὑμῶν ἔρημος ἀμὴν δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ με ἴδητέ ἕως ἄν ἥξῃ, ὅτε εἴπητε εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου 13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
