8:5 Exiit qui seminat, seminare semen suum. Et dum seminat, aliud cecidit secus viam, et conculcatum est, et volucres cæli comederunt illud. 8:5 echlqen o speirwn tou speirai ton sporon autou kai en tw speirein auton o men epesen para thn odon kai katepathqh kai ta peteina tou ouranou katefagen auto 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
8:6 Et aliud cecidit supra petram: et natum aruit, quia non habebat humorem. 8:6 kai eteron epesen epi thn petran kai fuen echranqh dia to mh exein ikmada 8:6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
8:7 Et aliud cecidit inter spinas, et simul exortæ spinæ suffocaverunt illud. 8:7 kai eteron epesen en mesw twn akanqwn kai sumfueisai ai akanqai apepnican auto 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8:8 Et aliud cecidit in terram bonam: et ortum fecit fructum centuplum. Hæc dicens clamabat: Qui habet aures audiendi, audiat. 8:8 kai eteron epesen epi thn ghn thn agaqhn kai fuen epoihsen karpon ekatontaplasiona tauta legwn efwnei o exwn wta akouein akouetw 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 8:10 Quibus ipse dixit: Vobis datum est nosse mysterium regni Dei, ceteris autem in parabolis: ut videntes non videant, et audientes non intelligant. Luke 8:10 o de eipen umin dedotai gnwnai ta musthria thj basileiaj tou qeou toij de loipoij en parabolaij ina blepontej mh blepwsin kai akouontej mh suniwsin Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
8:11 Est autem hæc parabola: Semen est verbum Domini. 8:11 estin de auth h parabolh o sporoj estin o logoj tou qeou 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
8:12 Qui autem secus viam, hi sunt qui audiunt: deinde venit diabolus, et tollit verbum de corde eorum, ne credentes salvi fiant. 8:12 oi de para thn odon eisin oi akouontej eita erxetai o diaboloj kai airei ton logon apo thj kardiaj autwn ina mh pisteusantej swqwsin 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
8:13 Nam qui supra petram, qui cum audierint, cum gaudio suscipiunt verbum: et hi radices non habent: qui ad tempus credunt, et in tempore tentationis recedunt. 8:13 oi de epi thj petraj oi otan akouswsin meta xaraj dexontai ton logon kai outoi rizan ouk exousin oi proj kairon pisteuousin kai en kairw peirasmou afistantai 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
8:14 Quod autem in spinas cecidit: hi sunt qui audierunt, et a sollicitudinibus, et divitiis, et voluptatibus vitæ euntes, suffocantur, et non referunt fructum. 8:14 to de eij taj akanqaj peson outoi eisin oi akousantej kai upo merimnwn kai ploutou kai hdonwn tou biou poreuomenoi sumpnigontai kai ou telesforousin 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
8:15 Quod autem in bonam terram: hi sunt qui in corde bono et optimo audientes verbum retinent, et fructum afferunt in patientia. 8:15 to de en th kalh gh outoi eisin oitinej en kardia kalh kai agaqh akousantej ton logon katexousin kai karpoforousin en upomonh 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
8:16 Nemo autem lucernam accendens, operit eam vase, aut subtus lectum ponit: sed supra candelabrum ponit, ut intrantes videant lumen. 8:16 oudeij de luxnon ayaj kaluptei auton skeuei h upokatw klinhj tiqhsin all epi luxniaj epitiqhsin ina oi eisporeuomenoi blepwsin to fwj 8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
8:17 Non est enim occultum, quod non manifestetur: nec absconditum, quod non cognoscatur, et in palam veniat. 8:17 ou gar estin krupton o ou faneron genhsetai oude apokrufon o ou gnwsqhsetai kai eij faneron elqh 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
8:18 Videte ergo quomodo audiatis? Luke 8:20 Et nuntiatum est illi: Mater tua et fratres tui stant foris, volentes te videre. Luke 8:20 kai aphggelh autw legontwn h mhthr sou kai oi adelfoi sou esthkasin ecw idein se qelontej Luke 8:20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
8:21 Qui respondens, dixit ad eos: Mater mea et fratres mei hi sunt, qui verbum Dei audiunt et faciunt. 8:21 o de apokriqeij eipen proj autouj mhthr mou kai adelfoi mou outoi eisin oi ton logon tou qeou akouontej kai poiountej auton 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
8:22 Factum est autem in una dierum: et ipse ascendit in naviculam, et discipuli ejus, et ait ad illos: Transfretemus trans stagnum. Et ascenderunt. 8:22 kai egeneto en mia twn hmerwn kai autoj enebh eij ploion kai oi maqhtai autou kai eipen proj autouj dielqwmen eij to peran thj limnhj kai anhxqhsan 8:22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
8:23 Et navigantibus illis, obdormivit, et descendit procella venti in stagnum, et complebantur, et periclitabantur. 8:23 pleontwn de autwn afupnwsen kai katebh lailay anemou eij thn limnhn kai suneplhrounto kai ekinduneuon 8:23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
8:24 Accedentes autem suscitaverunt eum, dicentes: Præceptor, perimus. At ille surgens, increpavit ventum, et tempestatem aquæ, et cessavit: et facta est tranquillitas. 8:24 proselqontej de dihgeiran auton legontej epistata epistata apollumeqa o de egerqeij epetimhsen tw anemw kai tw kludwni tou udatoj kai epausanto kai egeneto galhnh 8:24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
8:25 Dixit autem illis: Ubi est fides vestra? Qui timentes, mirati sunt ad invicem, dicentes: Quis putas hic est, quia et ventis, et mari imperat, et obediunt ei? 8:25 eipen de autoij pou estin h pistij umwn fobhqentej de eqaumasan legontej proj allhlouj tij ara outoj estin oti kai toij anemoij epitassei kai tw udati kai upakouousin autw 8:25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
8:26 Et navigaverunt ad regionem Gerasenorum, quæ est contra Galilæam. 8:26 kai katepleusan eij thn xwran twn gadarhnwn htij estin antiperan thj galilaiaj 8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
8:27 Et cum egressus esset ad terram, occurrit illi vir quidam, qui habebat dæmonium jam temporibus multis, et vestimento non induebatur, neque in domo manebat, sed in monumentis. 8:27 ecelqonti de autw epi thn ghn uphnthsen autw anhr tij ek thj polewj oj eixen daimonia ek xronwn ikanwn kai imation ouk enedidusketo kai en oikia ouk emenen all en toij mnhmasin 8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
8:28 Is, ut vidit Jesum, procidit ante illum: et exclamans voce magna, dixit: Quid mihi et tibi est, Jesu Fili Dei Altissimi? obsecro te, ne me torqueas. 8:28 idwn de ton ihsoun kai anakracaj prosepesen autw kai fwnh megalh eipen ti emoi kai soi ihsou uie tou qeou tou uyistou deomai sou mh me basanishj 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
8:29 Præcipiebat enim spiritui immundo ut exiret ab homine. Multis enim temporibus arripiebat illum, et vinciebatur catenis, et compedibus custoditus. Et ruptis vinculis agebatur a dæmonio in deserta. 8:29 parhggeilen gar tw pneumati tw akaqartw ecelqein apo tou anqrwpou polloij gar xronoij sunhrpakei auton kai edesmeito alusesin kai pedaij fulassomenoj kai diarrhsswn ta desma hlauneto upo tou daimonoj eij taj erhmouj 8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
Luke 8:30 Interrogavit autem illum Jesus, dicens: Quod tibi nomen est? At ille dixit: Legio: quia intraverant dæmonia multa in eum. Luke 8:30 ephrwthsen de auton o ihsouj legwn ti soi estin onoma o de eipen legewn oti daimonia polla eishlqen eij auton Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
8:31 Et rogabant illum ne imperaret illis ut in abyssum irent. 8:31 kai parekaloun auton ina mh epitach autoij eij thn abusson apelqein 8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
8:32 Erat autem ibi grex porcorum multorum pascentium in monte: et rogabant eum, ut permitteret eis in illos ingredi. Et permisit illis. 8:32 hn de ekei agelh xoirwn ikanwn boskomenwn en tw orei kai parekaloun auton ina epitreyh autoij eij ekeinouj eiselqein kai epetreyen autoij 8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
8:33 Exierunt ergo dæmonia ab homine, et intraverunt in porcos: et impetu abiit grex per præceps in stagnum, et suffocatus est. 8:33 ecelqonta de ta daimonia apo tou anqrwpou eishlqen eij touj xoirouj kai wrmhsen h agelh kata tou krhmnou eij thn limnhn kai apepnigh 8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
8:34 Quod ut viderunt factum qui pascebant, fugerunt, et nuntiaverunt in civitatem et in villas. 8:34 idontej de oi boskontej to gegenhmenon efugon kai apelqontej aphggeilan eij thn polin kai eij touj agrouj 8:34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
8:35 Exierunt autem videre quod factum est, et venerunt ad Jesum, et invenerunt hominem sedentem, a quo dæmonia exierant, vestitum ac sana mente, ad pedes ejus, et timuerunt. 8:35 echlqon de idein to gegonoj kai hlqon proj ton ihsoun kai euron kaqhmenon ton anqrwpon af ou ta daimonia ecelhluqei imatismenon kai swfronounta para touj podaj tou ihsou kai efobhqhsan 8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
8:36 Nuntiaverunt autem illis et qui viderant, quomodo sanus factus esset a legione: 8:36 aphggeilan de autoij kai oi idontej pwj eswqh o daimonisqeij 8:36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
8:37 et rogaverunt illum omnis multitudo regionis Gerasenorum ut discederet ab ipsis: quia magno timore tenebantur. Ipse autem ascendens navim, reversus est. 8:37 kai hrwthsan auton apan to plhqoj thj perixwrou twn gadarhnwn apelqein ap autwn oti fobw megalw suneixonto autoj de embaj eij to ploion upestreyen 8:37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
8:38 Et rogabat illum vir, a quo dæmonia exierant, ut cum eo esset. Dimisit autem eum Jesus, dicens: 8:38 edeeto de autou o anhr af ou ecelhluqei ta daimonia einai sun autw apelusen de auton o ihsouj legwn 8:38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
8:39 Redi in domum tuam, et narra quanta tibi fecit Deus. Et abiit per universam civitatem, prædicans quanta illi fecisset Jesus. 8:39 upostrefe eij ton oikon sou kai dihgou osa epoihsen soi o qeoj kai aphlqen kaq olhn thn polin khrusswn osa epoihsen autw o ihsouj 8:39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
Luke 8:40 Factum est autem cum rediisset Jesus, excepit illum turba: erunt enim omnes exspectantes eum. Luke 8:40 egeneto de en tw upostreyai ton ihsoun apedecato auton o oxloj hsan gar pantej prosdokwntej auton Luke 8:40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
8:41 Et ecce venit vir, cui nomen Jairus, et ipse princeps synagogæ erat: et cecidit ad pedes Jesu, rogans eum ut intraret in domum ejus, 8:41 kai idou hlqen anhr w onoma iaeiroj kai autoj arxwn thj sunagwghj uphrxen kai peswn para touj podaj tou ihsou parekalei auton eiselqein eij ton oikon autou 8:41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
8:42 quia unica filia erat ei fere annorum duodecim, et hæc moriebatur. Et contigit, dum iret, a turba comprimebatur. 8:42 oti qugathr monogenhj hn autw wj etwn dwdeka kai auth apeqnhsken en de tw upagein auton oi oxloi sunepnigon auton 8:42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
8:43 Et mulier quædam erat in fluxu sanguinis ab annis duodecim, quæ in medicos erogaverat omnem substantiam suam, nec ab ullo potuit curari: 8:43 kai gunh ousa en rusei aimatoj apo etwn dwdeka htij eij iatrouj prosanalwsasa olon ton bion ouk isxusen up oudenoj qerapeuqhnai 8:43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
8:44 accessit retro, et tetigit fimbriam vestimenti ejus: et confestim stetit fluxus sanguinis ejus. 8:44 proselqousa opisqen hyato tou kraspedou tou imatiou autou kai paraxrhma esth h rusij tou aimatoj authj 8:44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
8:45 Et ait Jesus: Quis est, qui me tetigit? Negantibus autem omnibus, dixit Petrus, et qui cum illo erant: Præceptor, turbæ te comprimunt, et affligunt, et dicis: Quis me tetigit? 8:45 kai eipen o ihsouj tij o ayamenoj mou arnoumenwn de pantwn eipen o petroj kai oi met autou epistata oi oxloi sunexousin se kai apoqlibousin kai legeij tij o ayamenoj mou 8:45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
8:46 Et dicit Jesus: Tetigit me aliquis: nam ego novi virtutem de me exiisse. 8:46 o de ihsouj eipen hyato mou tij egw gar egnwn dunamin ecelqousan ap emou 8:46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
8:47 Videns autem mulier, quia non latuit, tremens venit, et procidit ante pedes ejus: et ob quam causam tetigerit eum, indicavit coram omni populo: et quemadmodum confestim sanata sit. 8:47 idousa de h gunh oti ouk elaqen tremousa hlqen kai prospesousa autw di hn aitian hyato autou aphggeilen autw enwpion pantoj tou laou kai wj iaqh paraxrhma 8:47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
8:48 At ipse dixit ei: Filia, fides tua salvam te fecit: vade in pace. 8:48 o de eipen auth qarsei qugater h pistij sou seswken se poreuou eij eirhnhn 8:48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
8:49 Adhuc illo loquente, venit quidam ad principem synagogæ, dicens ei: Quia mortua est filia tua, noli vexare illum. 8:49 eti autou lalountoj erxetai tij para tou arxisunagwgou legwn autw oti teqnhken h qugathr sou mh skulle ton didaskalon 8:49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
Luke 8:50 Jesus autem, audito hoc verbo, respondit patri puellæ: Noli timere, crede tantum, et salva erit. Luke 8:50 o de ihsouj akousaj apekriqh autw legwn mh fobou monon pisteue kai swqhsetai Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
8:51 Et cum venisset domum, non permisit intrare secum quemquam, nisi Petrum, et Jacobum, et Joannem, et patrem, et matrem puellæ. 8:51 eiselqwn de eij thn oikian ouk afhken eiselqein oudena ei mh petron kai iakwbon kai iwannhn kai ton patera thj paidoj kai thn mhtera 8:51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
8:52 Flebant autem omnes, et plangebant illam. At ille dixit: Nolite flere: non est mortua puella, sed dormit. 8:52 eklaion de pantej kai ekoptonto authn o de eipen mh klaiete ouk apeqanen alla kaqeudei 8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
8:53 Et deridebant eum, scientes quod mortua esset. 8:53 kai kategelwn autou eidotej oti apeqanen 8:53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
8:54 Ipse autem tenens manum ejus clamavit, dicens: Puella, surge. 8:54 autoj de ekbalwn ecw pantaj kai krathsaj thj xeiroj authj efwnhsen legwn h paij egeirou 8:54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
8:55 Et reversus est spiritus ejus, et surrexit continuo. Et jussit illi dari manducare. 8:55 kai epestreyen to pneuma authj kai anesth paraxrhma kai dietacen auth doqhnai fagein 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
8:56 Et stupuerunt parentes ejus, quibus præcepit ne alicui dicerent quod factum erat. 8:56 kai ecesthsan oi goneij authj o de parhggeilen autoij mhdeni eipein to gegonoj 8:56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
