Luke 24:1 Una autem sabbati valde diluculo venerunt ad monumentum, portantes quæ paraverant aromata: Luke 24:1 th de mia twn sabbatwn orqrou baqeoj hlqon epi to mnhma ferousai a htoimasan arwmata kai tinej sun autaij Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
24:2 et invenerunt lapidem revolutum a monumento. 24:2 euron de ton liqon apokekulismenon apo tou mnhmeiou 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
24:3 Et ingressæ non invenerunt corpus Domini Jesu. 24:3 kai eiselqousai oux euron to swma tou kuriou ihsou 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
24:4 Et factum est, dum mente consternatæ essent de isto, ecce duo viri steterunt secus illas in veste fulgenti. 24:4 kai egeneto en tw diaporeisqai autaj peri toutou kai idou duo andrej epesthsan autaij en esqhsesin astraptousaij 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
24:5 Cum timerent autem, et declinarent vultum in terram, dixerunt ad illas: Quid quæritis viventem cum mortuis? 24:5 emfobwn de genomenwn autwn kai klinouswn to proswpon eij thn ghn eipon proj autaj ti zhteite ton zwnta meta twn nekrwn 24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
24:6 non est hic, sed surrexit: recordamini qualiter locutus est vobis, cum adhuc in Galilæa esset, 24:6 ouk estin wde all hgerqh mnhsqhte wj elalhsen umin eti wn en th galilaia 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
24:7 dicens: Quia oportet Filium hominis tradi in manus hominum peccatorum, et crucifigi, et die tertia resurgere. 24:7 legwn oti dei ton uion tou anqrwpou paradoqhnai eij xeiraj anqrwpwn amartwlwn kai staurwqhnai kai th trith hmera anasthnai 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

24:9 Et regressæ a monumento nuntiaverunt hæc omnia illis undecim, et ceteris omnibus. 24:9 kai upostreyasai apo tou mnhmeiou aphggeilan tauta panta toij endeka kai pasin toij loipoij 24:9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
Luke 24:10 Erat autem Maria Magdalene, et Joanna, et Maria Jacobi, et ceteræ quæ cum eis erant, quæ dicebant ad apostolos hæc. Luke 24:10 hsan de h magdalhnh maria kai iwanna kai maria iakwbou kai ai loipai sun autaij ai elegon proj touj apostolouj tauta Luke 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
24:11 Et visa sunt ante illos sicut deliramentum verba ista, et non crediderunt illis. 24:11 kai efanhsan enwpion autwn wsei lhroj ta rhmata autwn kai hpistoun autaij 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
24:12 Petrus autem surgens cucurrit ad monumentum: et procumbens vidit linteamina sola posita, et abiit secum mirans quod factum fuerat. 24:12 o de petroj anastaj edramen epi to mnhmeion kai parakuyaj blepei ta oqonia keimena mona kai aphlqen proj eauton qaumazwn to gegonoj 24:12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
24:13 Et ecce duo ex illis ibant ipsa die in castellum, quod erat in spatio stadiorum sexaginta ab Jerusalem, nomine Emmaus. 24:13 kai idou duo ec autwn hsan poreuomenoi en auth th hmera eij kwmhn apexousan stadiouj echkonta apo ierousalhm h onoma emmaouj 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
24:14 Et ipsi loquebantur ad invicem de his omnibus quæ acciderant. 24:14 kai autoi wmiloun proj allhlouj peri pantwn twn sumbebhkotwn toutwn 24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
24:15 Et factum est, dum fabularentur, et secum quærerent: et ipse Jesus appropinquans ibat cum illis: 24:15 kai egeneto en tw omilein autouj kai suzhtein kai autoj o ihsouj eggisaj suneporeueto autoij 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
24:16 oculi autem illorum tenebantur ne eum agnoscerent. 24:16 oi de ofqalmoi autwn ekratounto tou mh epignwnai auton 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
24:17 Et ait ad illos: Qui sunt hi sermones, quos confertis ad invicem ambulantes, et estis tristes? 24:17 eipen de proj autouj tinej oi logoi outoi ouj antiballete proj allhlouj peripatountej kai este skuqrwpoi 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
24:18 Et respondens unus, cui nomen Cleophas, dixit ei: Tu solus peregrinus es in Jerusalem, et non cognovisti quæ facta sunt in illa his diebus? 24:18 apokriqeij de o eij w onoma kleopaj eipen proj auton su monoj paroikeij en ierousalhm kai ouk egnwj ta genomena en auth en taij hmeraij tautaij 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
24:19 Quibus ille dixit: Quæ? Et dixerunt: De Jesu Nazareno, qui fuit vir propheta, potens in opere et sermone coram Deo et omni populo: 24:19 kai eipen autoij poia oi de eipon autw ta peri ihsou tou nazwraiou oj egeneto anhr profhthj dunatoj en ergw kai logw enantion tou qeou kai pantoj tou laou 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
Luke 24:20 et quomodo eum tradiderunt summi sacerdotes et principes nostri in damnationem mortis, et crucifixerunt eum: Luke 24:20 opwj te paredwkan auton oi arxiereij kai oi arxontej hmwn eij krima qanatou kai estaurwsan auton Luke 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
24:21 nos autem sperabamus quia ipse esset redempturus Israël: et nunc super hæc omnia, tertia dies est hodie quod hæc facta sunt. 24:21 hmeij de hlpizomen oti autoj estin o mellwn lutrousqai ton israhl alla ge sun pasin toutoij trithn tauthn hmeran agei shmeron af ou tauta egeneto 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
24:22 Sed et mulieres quædam ex nostris terruerunt nos, quæ ante lucem fuerunt ad monumentum, 24:22 alla kai gunaikej tinej ec hmwn ecesthsan hmaj genomenai orqriai epi to mnhmeion 24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
24:23 et non invento corpore ejus, venerunt, dicentes se etiam visionem angelorum vidisse, qui dicunt eum vivere. 24:23 kai mh eurousai to swma autou hlqon legousai kai optasian aggelwn ewrakenai oi legousin auton zhn 24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24:24 Et abierunt quidam ex nostris ad monumentum: et ita invenerunt sicut mulieres dixerunt, ipsum vero non invenerunt. 24:24 kai aphlqon tinej twn sun hmin epi to mnhmeion kai euron outwj kaqwj kai ai gunaikej eipon auton de ouk eidon 24:24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
24:25 Et ipse dixit ad eos: O stulti, et tardi corde ad credendum in omnibus quæ locuti sunt prophetæ! 24:25 kai autoj eipen proj autouj w anohtoi kai bradeij th kardia tou pisteuein epi pasin oij elalhsan oi profhtai 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
24:26 Nonne hæc oportuit pati Christum, et ita intrare in gloriam suam? 24:26 ouxi tauta edei paqein ton xriston kai eiselqein eij thn docan autou 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
24:27 Et incipiens a Moyse, et omnibus prophetis, interpretabatur illis in omnibus scripturis quæ de ipso erant. 24:27 kai arcamenoj apo mwsewj kai apo pantwn twn profhtwn dihrmhneuen autoij en pasaij taij grafaij ta peri eautou 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
24:28 Et appropinquaverunt castello quo ibant: et ipse se finxit longius ire. 24:28 kai hggisan eij thn kwmhn ou eporeuonto kai autoj prosepoieito porrwterw poreuesqai 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
24:29 Et coëgerunt illum, dicentes: Mane nobiscum, quoniam advesperascit, et inclinata est jam dies. Et intravit cum illis. 24:29 kai parebiasanto auton legontej meinon meq hmwn oti proj esperan estin kai kekliken h hmera kai eishlqen tou meinai sun autoij 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
Luke 24:30 Et factum est, dum recumberet cum eis, accepit panem, et benedixit, ac fregit, et porrigebat illis. Luke 24:30 kai egeneto en tw katakliqhnai auton met autwn labwn ton arton euloghsen kai klasaj epedidou autoij Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
24:31 Et aperti sunt oculi eorum, et cognoverunt eum: et ipse evanuit ex oculis eorum. 24:31 autwn de dihnoixqhsan oi ofqalmoi kai epegnwsan auton kai autoj afantoj egeneto ap autwn 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
24:32 Et dixerunt ad invicem: Nonne cor nostrum ardens erat in nobis dum loqueretur in via, et aperiret nobis Scripturas? 24:32 kai eipon proj allhlouj ouxi h kardia hmwn kaiomenh hn en hmin wj elalei hmin en th odw kai wj dihnoigen hmin taj grafaj 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
24:33 Et surgentes eadem hora regressi sunt in Jerusalem: et invenerunt congregatos undecim, et eos qui cum illis erant, 24:33 kai anastantej auth th wra upestreyan eij ierousalhm kai euron sunhqroismenouj touj endeka kai touj sun autoij 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
24:34 dicentes: Quod surrexit Dominus vere, et apparuit Simoni. 24:34 legontaj oti hgerqh o kurioj ontwj kai wfqh simwni 24:34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
24:35 Et ipsi narrabant quæ gesta erant in via, et quomodo cognoverunt eum in fractione panis. 24:35 kai autoi echgounto ta en th odw kai wj egnwsqh autoij en th klasei tou artou 24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
24:36 Dum autem hæc loquuntur, stetit Jesus in medio eorum, et dicit eis: Pax vobis: ego sum, nolite timere. 24:36 tauta de autwn lalountwn autoj o ihsouj esth en mesw autwn kai legei autoij eirhnh umin 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
24:37 Conturbati vero et conterriti, existimabant se spiritum videre. 24:37 ptohqentej de kai emfoboi genomenoi edokoun pneuma qewrein 24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
24:38 Et dixit eis: Quid turbati estis, et cogitationes ascendunt in corda vestra? 24:38 kai eipen autoij ti tetaragmenoi este kai dia ti dialogismoi anabainousin en taij kardiaij umwn 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
24:39 videte manus meas, et pedes, quia ego ipse sum; palpate et videte, quia spiritus carnem et ossa non habet, sicut me videtis habere. 24:39 idete taj xeiraj mou kai touj podaj mou oti autoj egw eimi yhlafhsate me kai idete oti pneuma sarka kai ostea ouk exei kaqwj eme qewreite exonta 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24:40 Et cum hoc dixisset, ostendit eis manus et pedes. Luke 24:40 kai touto eipwn epedeicen autoij taj xeiraj kai touj podaj Luke 24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
24:41 Adhuc autem illis non credentibus, et mirantibus præ gaudio, dixit: Habetis hic aliquid quod manducetur? 24:41 eti de apistountwn autwn apo thj xaraj kai qaumazontwn eipen autoij exete ti brwsimon enqade 24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
24:42 At illi obtulerunt ei partem piscis assi et favum mellis. 24:42 oi de epedwkan autw ixquoj optou meroj kai apo melissiou khriou 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
24:43 Et cum manducasset coram eis, sumens reliquias dedit eis. 24:43 kai labwn enwpion autwn efagen 24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
24:44 Et dixit ad eos: Hæc sunt verba quæ locutus sum ad vos cum adhuc essem vobiscum, quoniam necesse est impleri omnia quæ scripta sunt in lege Moysi, et prophetis, et Psalmis de me. 24:44 eipen de autoij outoi oi logoi ouj elalhsa proj umaj eti wn sun umin oti dei plhrwqhnai panta ta gegrammena en tw nomw mwsewj kai profhtaij kai yalmoij peri emou 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
24:45 Tunc aperuit illis sensum ut intelligerent Scripturas, 24:45 tote dihnoicen autwn ton noun tou sunienai taj grafaj 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
24:46 et dixit eis: Quoniam sic scriptum est, et sic oportebat Christum pati, et resurgere a mortuis tertia die: 24:46 kai eipen autoij oti outwj gegraptai kai outwj edei paqein ton xriston kai anasthnai ek nekrwn th trith hmera 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
24:47 et prædicari in nomine ejus pœnitentiam, et remissionem peccatorum in omnes gentes, incipientibus ab Jerosolyma. 24:47 kai khruxqhnai epi tw onomati autou metanoian kai afesin amartiwn eij panta ta eqnh arcamenon apo ierousalhm 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
24:48 Vos autem testes estis horum. 24:48 umeij de este marturej toutwn 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
24:49 Et ego mitto promissum Patris mei in vos; vos autem sedete in civitate, quoadusque induamini virtute ex alto. 24:49 kai idou egw apostellw thn epaggelian tou patroj mou ef umaj umeij de kaqisate en th polei ierousalhm ewj ou endushsqe dunamin ec uyouj 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Luke 24:50 Eduxit autem eos foras in Bethaniam, et elevatis manibus suis benedixit eis. Luke 24:50 echgagen de autouj ecw ewj eij bhqanian kai eparaj taj xeiraj autou euloghsen autouj Luke 24:50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
24:51 Et factum est, dum benediceret illis, recessit ab eis, et ferebatur in cælum. 24:51 kai egeneto en tw eulogein auton autouj diesth ap autwn kai anefereto eij ton ouranon 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
24:52 Et ipsi adorantes regressi sunt in Jerusalem cum gaudio magno: 24:52 kai autoi proskunhsantej auton upestreyan eij ierousalhm meta xaraj megalhj 24:52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
24:53 et erant semper in templo, laudantes et benedicentes Deum. Amen. 24:53 kai hsan diapantoj en tw ierw ainountej kai eulogountej ton qeon amhn 24:53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
