Luke 19:1 Et ingressus perambulabat Jericho. Luke 19:1 kai eiselqwn dihrxeto thn ierixw Luke 19:1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
19:2 Et ecce vir nomine Zachæus: et hic princeps erat publicanorum, et ipse dives: 19:2 kai idou anhr onomati kaloumenoj zakxaioj kai autoj hn arxitelwnhj kai outoj hn plousioj 19:2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
19:3 et quærebat videre Jesum, quis esset: et non poterat præ turba, quia statura pusillus erat. 19:3 kai ezhtei idein ton ihsoun tij estin kai ouk hdunato apo tou oxlou oti th hlikia mikroj hn 19:3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
19:4 Et præcurrens ascendit in arborem sycomorum ut videret eum: quia inde erat transiturus. 19:4 kai prodramwn emprosqen anebh epi sukomwraian ina idh auton oti di ekeinhj hmellen dierxesqai 19:4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
19:5 Et cum venisset ad locum, suspiciens Jesus vidit illum, et dixit ad eum: Zachæe, festinans descende: quia hodie in domo tua oportet me manere. 19:5 kai wj hlqen epi ton topon anableyaj o ihsouj eiden auton kai eipen proj auton zakxaie speusaj katabhqi shmeron gar en tw oikw sou dei me meinai 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
19:6 Et festinans descendit, et excepit illum gaudens. 19:6 kai speusaj katebh kai upedecato auton xairwn 19:6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
19:7 Et cum viderent omnes, murmurabant, dicentes quod ad hominem peccatorem divertisset. 19:7 kai idontej apantej diegogguzon legontej oti para amartwlw andri eishlqen katalusai 19:7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
19:8 Stans autem Zachæus, dixit ad Dominum: Ecce dimidium bonorum meorum, Domine, do pauperibus: et si quid aliquem defraudavi, reddo quadruplum. 19:8 staqeij de zakxaioj eipen proj ton kurion idou ta hmish twn uparxontwn mou kurie didwmi toij ptwxoij kai ei tinoj ti esukofanthsa apodidwmi tetraploun 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
19:9 Ait Jesus ad eum: Quia hodie salus domui huic facta est: eo quod et ipse filius sit Abrahæ. 19:9 eipen de proj auton o ihsouj oti shmeron swthria tw oikw toutw egeneto kaqoti kai autoj uioj abraam estin 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
Luke 19:10 Venit enim Filius hominis quærere, et salvum facere quod perierat. Luke 19:10 hlqen gar o uioj tou anqrwpou zhthsai kai swsai to apolwloj Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
19:11 Hæc illis audientibus adjiciens, dixit parabolam, eo quod esset prope Jerusalem: et quia existimarent quod confestim regnum Dei manifestaretur. 19:11 akouontwn de autwn tauta prosqeij eipen parabolhn dia to egguj auton einai ierousalhm kai dokein autouj oti paraxrhma mellei h basileia tou qeou anafainesqai 19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
19:12 Dixit ergo: Homo quidam nobilis abiit in regionem longinquam accipere sibi regnum, et reverti. 19:12 eipen oun anqrwpoj tij eugenhj eporeuqh eij xwran makran labein eautw basileian kai upostreyai 19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
19:13 Vocatis autem decem servis suis, dedit eis decem mnas, et ait ad illos: Negotiamini dum venio. 19:13 kalesaj de deka doulouj eautou edwken autoij deka mnaj kai eipen proj autouj pragmateusasqe ewj erxomai 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
19:14 Cives autem ejus oderant eum: et miserunt legationem post illum, dicentes: Nolumus hunc regnare super nos. 19:14 oi de politai autou emisoun auton kai apesteilan presbeian opisw autou legontej ou qelomen touton basileusai ef hmaj 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
19:15 Et factum est ut rediret accepto regno: et jussit vocari servos, quibus dedit pecuniam, ut sciret quantum quisque negotiatus esset. 19:15 kai egeneto en tw epanelqein auton labonta thn basileian kai eipen fwnhqhnai autw touj doulouj toutouj oij edwken to argurion ina gnw tij ti diepragmateusato 19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
19:16 Venit autem primus dicens: Domine, mna tua decem mnas acquisivit. 19:16 paregeneto de o prwtoj legwn kurie h mna sou proseirgasato deka mnaj 19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
19:17 Et ait illi: Euge bone serve, quia in modico fuisti fidelis, eris potestatem habens super decem civitates. 19:17 kai eipen autw eu agaqe doule oti en elaxistw pistoj egenou isqi ecousian exwn epanw deka polewn 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
19:18 Et alter venit, dicens: Domine, mna tua fecit quinque mnas. 19:18 kai hlqen o deuteroj legwn kurie h mna sou epoihsen pente mnaj 19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19:19 Et huic ait: Et tu esto super quinque civitates. 19:19 eipen de kai toutw kai su ginou epanw pente polewn 19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Luke 19:20 Et alter venit, dicens: Domine, ecce mna tua, quam habui repositam in sudario: Luke 19:20 kai eteroj hlqen legwn kurie idou h mna sou hn eixon apokeimenhn en soudariw Luke 19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
19:21 timui enim te, quia homo austerus es: tollis quod non posuisti, et metis quod non seminasti. 19:21 efoboumhn gar se oti anqrwpoj austhroj ei aireij o ouk eqhkaj kai qerizeij o ouk espeiraj 19:21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
19:22 Dicit ei: De ore tuo te judico, serve nequam. Sciebas quod ego homo austerus sum, tollens quod non posui, et metens quod non seminavi: 19:22 legei de autw ek tou stomatoj sou krinw se ponhre doule hdeij oti egw anqrwpoj austhroj eimi airwn o ouk eqhka kai qerizwn o ouk espeira 19:22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
19:23 et quare non dedisti pecuniam meam ad mensam, ut ego veniens cum usuris utique exegissem illam? 19:23 kai dia ti ouk edwkaj to argurion mou epi thn trapezan kai egw elqwn sun tokw an epraca auto 19:23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
19:24 Et astantibus dixit: Auferte ab illo mnam, et date illi qui decem mnas habet. 19:24 kai toij parestwsin eipen arate ap autou thn mnan kai dote tw taj deka mnaj exonti 19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
19:25 Et dixerunt ei: Domine, habet decem mnas. 19:25 kai eipon autw kurie exei deka mnaj 19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
19:26 Dico autem vobis, quia omni habenti dabitur, et abundabit: ab eo autem qui non habet, et quod habet auferetur ab eo. 19:26 legw gar umin oti panti tw exonti doqhsetai apo de tou mh exontoj kai o exei arqhsetai ap autou 19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
19:27 Verumtamen inimicos meos illos, qui noluerunt me regnare super se, adducite huc: et interficite ante me. 19:27 plhn touj exqrouj mou ekeinouj touj mh qelhsantaj me basileusai ep autouj agagete wde kai katasfacate emprosqen mou 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
19:28 Et his dictis, præcedebat ascendens Jerosolymam. 19:28 kai eipwn tauta eporeueto emprosqen anabainwn eij ierosoluma 19:28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.
19:29 Et factum est, cum appropinquasset ad Bethphage et Bethaniam, ad montem qui vocatur Oliveti, misit duos discipulos suos, 19:29 kai egeneto wj hggisen eij bhqfagh kai bhqanian proj to oroj to kaloumenon elaiwn apesteilen duo twn maqhtwn autou 19:29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
Luke 19:30 dicens: Ite in castellum quod contra est: in quod introëuntes, invenietis pullum asinæ alligatum, cui nemo umquam hominum sedit: solvite illum, et adducite. Luke 19:30 eipwn upagete eij thn katenanti kwmhn en h eisporeuomenoi eurhsete pwlon dedemenon ef on oudeij pwpote anqrwpwn ekaqisen lusantej auton agagete Luke 19:30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.
19:31 Et si quis vos interrogaverit: Quare solvitis? sic dicetis ei: Quia Dominus operam ejus desiderat. 19:31 kai ean tij umaj erwta dia ti luete outwj ereite autw oti o kurioj autou xreian exei 19:31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him ? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
19:32 Abierunt autem qui missi erant: et invenerunt, sicut dixit illis, stantem pullum. 19:32 apelqontej de oi apestalmenoi euron kaqwj eipen autoij 19:32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.
19:33 Solventibus autem illis pullum, dixerunt domini ejus ad illos: Quid solvitis pullum? 19:33 luontwn de autwn ton pwlon eipon oi kurioi autou proj autouj ti luete ton pwlon 19:33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?
19:34 At illi dixerunt: Quia Dominus eum necessarium habet. 19:34 oi de eipon o kurioj autou xreian exei 19:34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
19:35 Et duxerunt illum ad Jesum. Et jacentes vestimenta sua supra pullum, imposuerunt Jesum. 19:35 kai hgagon auton proj ton ihsoun kai epirriyantej eautwn ta imatia epi ton pwlon epebibasan ton ihsoun 19:35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
19:36 Eunte autem illo, substernebant vestimenta sua in via: 19:36 poreuomenou de autou upestrwnnuon ta imatia autwn en th odw 19:36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
19:37 et cum appropinquaret jam ad descensum montis Oliveti, cœperunt omnes turbæ discipulorum gaudentes laudare Deum voce magna super omnibus, quas viderant, virtutibus, 19:37 eggizontoj de autou hdh proj th katabasei tou orouj twn elaiwn hrcanto apan to plhqoj twn maqhtwn xairontej ainein ton qeon fwnh megalh peri paswn wn eidon dunamewn 19:37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
19:38 dicentes: Benedictus, qui venit rex in nomine Domini: pax in cælo, et gloria in excelsis. 19:38 legontej euloghmenoj o erxomenoj basileuj en onomati kuriou eirhnh en ouranw kai doca en uyistoij 19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
19:39 Et quidam pharisæorum de turbis dixerunt ad illum: Magister, increpa discipulos tuos. 19:39 kai tinej twn farisaiwn apo tou oxlou eipon proj auton didaskale epitimhson toij maqhtaij sou 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
Luke 19:40 Quibus ipse ait: Dico vobis, quia si hi tacuerint, lapides clamabunt. Luke 19:40 kai apokriqeij eipen autoij legw umin oti ean outoi siwphswsin oi liqoi kekracontai Luke 19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
19:41 Et ut appropinquavit, videns civitatem flevit super illam, dicens: 19:41 kai wj hggisen idwn thn polin eklausen ep auth 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
19:42 Quia si cognovisses et tu, et quidem in hac die tua, quæ ad pacem tibi: nunc autem abscondita sunt ab oculis tuis. 19:42 legwn oti ei egnwj kai su kai ge en th hmera sou tauth ta proj eirhnhn sou nun de ekrubh apo ofqalmwn sou 19:42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
19:43 Quia venient dies in te: et circumdabunt te inimici tui vallo, et circumdabunt te: et coangustabunt te undique: 19:43 oti hcousin hmerai epi se kai peribalousin oi exqroi sou xaraka soi kai perikuklwsousin se kai sunecousin se pantoqen 19:43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
19:44 et ad terram prosternent te, et filios tuos, qui in te sunt, et non relinquent in te lapidem super lapidem: eo quod non cognoveris tempus visitationis tuæ. 19:44 kai edafiousin se kai ta tekna sou en soi kai ouk afhsousin en soi liqon epi liqw anq wn ouk egnwj ton kairon thj episkophj sou 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
19:45 Et ingressus in templum, cœpit ejicere vendentes in illo, et ementes, 19:45 kai eiselqwn eij to ieron hrcato ekballein touj pwlountaj en autw kai agorazontaj 19:45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
19:46 dicens illis: Scriptum est: Quia domus mea domus orationis est: vos autem fecistis illam speluncam latronum. 19:46 legwn autoij gegraptai o oikoj mou oikoj proseuxhj estin umeij de auton epoihsate sphlaion lhstwn 19:46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
19:47 Et erat docens quotidie in templo. Principes autem sacerdotum, et scribæ, et princeps plebis quærebant illum perdere: 19:47 kai hn didaskwn to kaq hmeran en tw ierw oi de arxiereij kai oi grammateij ezhtoun auton apolesai kai oi prwtoi tou laou 19:47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
19:48 et non inveniebant quid facerent illi. Omnis enim populus suspensus erat, audiens illum. 19:48 kai oux euriskon to ti poihswsin o laoj gar apaj ecekremato autou akouwn 19:48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
