JOHN CHAPTER 2
Latin Vulgate | Greek Textus Receptus | English King James |
---|---|---|
John 2:1 Et die tertia nuptiæ factæ sunt in Cana Galilææ, et erat mater Jesu ibi. | John 2:1 καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ γάμος ἐγένετο ἐν κανὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ ἦν ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ ἰησοῦ ἐκεῖ | John 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: |
| 2:2 ἐκλήθη δὲ καὶ ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν γάμον | 2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. |
| 2:3 καὶ ὑστερήσαντος οἴνου λέγει ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ ἰησοῦ πρὸς αὐτόν οἶνον οὐκ ἔχουσιν | 2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. |
| 2:4 λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ ἰησοῦς τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί γύναι οὔπω ἥκει ἡ ὥρα μου | 2:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. |
2:5 Dicit mater ejus ministris: Quodcumque dixerit vobis, facite. | 2:5 λέγει ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ τοῖς διακόνοις ὅ τι ἂν λέγῃ ὑμῖν ποιήσατε | 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. |
2:6 Erant autem ibi lapideæ hydriæ sex positæ secundum purificationem Judæorum, capientes singulæ metretas binas vel ternas. | 2:6 ἦσαν δὲ ἐκεῖ ὑδρίαι λίθιναι ἓξ κείμεναι κατὰ τὸν καθαρισμὸν τῶν ἰουδαίων χωροῦσαι ἀνὰ μετρητὰς δύο ἢ τρεῖς | 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. |
2:7 Dicit eis Jesus: Implete hydrias aqua. Et impleverunt eas usque ad summum. | 2:7 λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς γεμίσατε τὰς ὑδρίας ὕδατος καὶ ἐγέμισαν αὐτὰς ἕως ἄνω | 2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. |
2:8 Et dicit eis Jesus: Haurite nunc, et ferte architriclino. Et tulerunt. | 2:8 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ἀντλήσατε νῦν καὶ φέρετε τῷ ἀρχιτρικλίνῳ καὶ ἤνεγκαν | 2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. |
2:9 Ut autem gustavit architriclinus aquam vinum factam, et non sciebat unde esset, ministri autem sciebant, qui hauserant aquam: vocat sponsum architriclinus, | 2:9 ὡς δὲ ἐγεύσατο ὁ ἀρχιτρίκλινος τὸ ὕδωρ οἶνον γεγενημένον καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει πόθεν ἐστίν οἱ δὲ διάκονοι ᾔδεισαν οἱ ἠντληκότες τὸ ὕδωρ φωνεῖ τὸν νυμφίον ὁ ἀρχιτρίκλινος | 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, |
| John 2:10 καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ πᾶς ἄνθρωπος πρῶτον τὸν καλὸν οἶνον τίθησιν καὶ ὅταν μεθυσθῶσιν τότε τὸν ἐλάσσω σὺ τετήρηκας τὸν καλὸν οἶνον ἕως ἄρτι | John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. |
| 2:11 ταύτην ἐποίησεν τὴν ἀρχὴν τῶν σημείων ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐν κανὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ ἐφανέρωσεν τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ | 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. |
| 2:12 μετὰ τοῦτο κατέβη εἰς καπερναούμ, αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκεῖ ἔμειναν οὐ πολλὰς ἡμέρας | 2:12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. |
2:13 Et prope erat Pascha Judæorum, et ascendit Jesus Jerosolymam: | 2:13 καὶ ἐγγὺς ἦν τὸ πάσχα τῶν ἰουδαίων καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ὁ ἰησοῦς | 2:13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, |
2:14 et invenit in templo vendentes boves, et oves, et columbas, et numularios sedentes. | 2:14 καὶ εὗρεν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τοὺς πωλοῦντας βόας καὶ πρόβατα καὶ περιστερὰς καὶ τοὺς κερματιστὰς καθημένους | 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: |
| 2:15 καὶ ποιήσας φραγέλλιον ἐκ σχοινίων πάντας ἐξέβαλεν ἐκ τοῦ ἱεροῦ τά τε πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ τῶν κολλυβιστῶν ἐξέχεεν τὸ κέρμα καὶ τὰς τραπέζας ἀνέστρεψεν | 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; |
| 2:16 καὶ τοῖς τὰς περιστερὰς πωλοῦσιν εἶπεν ἄρατε ταῦτα ἐντεῦθεν μὴ ποιεῖτε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου οἶκον ἐμπορίου | 2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. |
2:17 Recordati sunt vero discipuli ejus quia scriptum est: Zelus domus tuæ comedit me. | 2:17 ἐμνήσθησαν δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι γεγραμμένον ἐστίν ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου κατέφαγεν με | 2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. |
| 2:18 ἀπεκρίθησαν οὖν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ τί σημεῖον δεικνύεις ἡμῖν ὅτι ταῦτα ποιεῖς | 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? |
| 2:19 ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς λύσατε τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον καὶ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερῶ αὐτόν | 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. |
| John 2:20 εἶπον οὖν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ἓξ ἔτεσιν ᾠκοδομήθη ὁ ναὸς οὗτος καὶ σὺ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερεῖς αὐτόν | John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? |
2:21 Ille autem dicebat de templo corporis sui. | 2:21 ἐκεῖνος δὲ ἔλεγεν περὶ τοῦ ναοῦ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ | 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body. |
| 2:22 ὅτε οὖν ἠγέρθη ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι τοῦτο ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐπίστευσαν τῇ γραφῇ καὶ τῷ λόγῳ ὦ εἶπεν ὁ ἰησοῦς | 2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. |
2:23 Cum autem esset Jerosolymis in Pascha in die festo, multi crediderunt in nomine ejus, videntes signa ejus, quæ faciebat. | 2:23 ὡς δὲ ἦν ἐν ἱεροσολύμοις ἐν τῷ πάσχα ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ θεωροῦντες αὐτοῦ τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίει | 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. |
2:24 Ipse autem Jesus non credebat semetipsum eis, eo quod ipse nosset omnes, | 2:24 αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἐπίστευεν ἑαυτὸν αὐτοῖς διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν γινώσκειν πάντας | 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, |
| 2:25 καὶ ὅτι οὐ χρείαν εἶχεν ἵνα τις μαρτυρήσῃ περὶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου αὐτὸς γὰρ ἐγίνωσκεν τί ἦν ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ | 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. |
