John 13:1 pro de thj eorthj tou pasxa eidwj o ihsouj oti elhluqen autou h wra ina metabh ek tou kosmou toutou proj ton patera agaphsaj touj idiouj touj en tw kosmw eij teloj hgaphsen autouj John 13:1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
13:2 Et cœna facta, cum diabolus jam misisset in cor ut traderet eum Judas Simonis Iscariotæ: 13:2 kai deipnou genomenou tou diabolou hdh beblhkotoj eij thn kardian iouda simwnoj iskariwtou ina auton paradw 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
13:3 sciens quia omnia dedit ei Pater in manus, et quia a Deo exivit, et ad Deum vadit: 13:3 eidwj o ihsouj oti panta dedwken autw o pathr eij taj xeiraj kai oti apo qeou echlqen kai proj ton qeon upagei 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
13:4 surgit a cœna, et ponit vestimenta sua, et cum accepisset linteum, præcinxit se. 13:4 egeiretai ek tou deipnou kai tiqhsin ta imatia kai labwn lention diezwsen eauton 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
13:5 Deinde mittit aquam in pelvim, et cœpit lavare pedes discipulorum, et extergere linteo, quo erat præcinctus. 13:5 eita ballei udwr eij ton nipthra kai hrcato niptein touj podaj twn maqhtwn kai ekmassein tw lentiw w hn diezwsmenoj 13:5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
13:6 Venit ergo ad Simonem Petrum. Et dicit ei Petrus: Domine, tu mihi lavas pedes? 13:6 erxetai oun proj simwna petron kai legei autw ekeinoj kurie su mou nipteij touj podaj 13:6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
13:7 Respondit Jesus, et dixit ei: Quod ego facio, tu nescis modo: scies autem postea. 13:7 apekriqh ihsouj kai eipen autw o egw poiw su ouk oidaj arti gnwsh de meta tauta 13:7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
13:8 Dicit ei Petrus: Non lavabis mihi pedes in æternum. Respondit ei Jesus: Si non lavero te, non habebis partem mecum. 13:8 legei autw petroj ou mh niyhj touj podaj mou eij ton aiwna apekriqh autw o ihsouj ean mh niyw se ouk exeij meroj met emou 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
13:9 Dicit ei Simon Petrus: Domine, non tantum pedes meos, sed et manus, et caput. 13:9 legei autw simwn petroj kurie mh touj podaj mou monon alla kai taj xeiraj kai thn kefalhn 13:9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
John 13:10 Dicit ei Jesus: Qui lotus est, non indiget nisi ut pedes lavet, sed est mundus totus. Et vos mundi estis, sed non omnes. John 13:10 legei autw o ihsouj o leloumenoj ou xreian exei h touj podaj niyasqai all estin kaqaroj oloj kai umeij kaqaroi este all ouxi pantej John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
13:11 Sciebat enim quisnam esset qui traderet eum; propterea dixit: Non estis mundi omnes. 13:11 hdei gar ton paradidonta auton dia touto eipen ouxi pantej kaqaroi este 13:11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
13:12 Postquam ergo lavit pedes eorum, et accepit vestimenta sua, cum recubuisset iterum, dixit eis: Scitis quid fecerim vobis? 13:12 ote oun eniyen touj podaj autwn kai elaben ta imatia autou anapeswn palin eipen autoij ginwskete ti pepoihka umin 13:12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13:13 Vos vocatis me Magister et Domine, et bene dicitis: sum etenim. 13:13 umeij fwneite me o didaskaloj kai o kurioj kai kalwj legete eimi gar 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
13:14 Si ergo ego lavi pedes vestros, Dominus et Magister, et vos debetis alter alterutrum lavare pedes. 13:14 ei oun egw eniya umwn touj podaj o kurioj kai o didaskaloj kai umeij ofeilete allhlwn niptein touj podaj 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
13:15 Exemplum enim dedi vobis, ut quemadmodum ego feci vobis, ita et vos faciatis. 13:15 upodeigma gar edwka umin ina kaqwj egw epoihsa umin kai umeij poihte 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
13:16 Amen, amen dico vobis: non est servus major domino suo: neque apostolus major est eo qui misit illum. 13:16 amhn amhn legw umin ouk estin douloj meizwn tou kuriou autou oude apostoloj meizwn tou pemyantoj auton 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
13:17 Si hæc scitis, beati eritis si feceritis ea. 13:17 ei tauta oidate makarioi este ean poihte auta 13:17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
13:18 Non de omnibus vobis dico: ego scio quos elegerim; sed ut adimpleatur Scriptura: Qui manducat mecum panem, levabit contra me calcaneum suum. 13:18 ou peri pantwn umwn legw egw oida ouj ecelecamhn all ina h grafh plhrwqh o trwgwn met emou ton arton ephren ep eme thn pternan autou 13:18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
13:19 Amodo dico vobis, priusquam fiat: ut cum factum fuerit, credatis quia ego sum. 13:19 ap arti legw umin pro tou genesqai ina otan genhtai pisteushte oti egw eimi 13:19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
John 13:20 Amen, amen dico vobis: qui accipit si quem misero, me accipit; qui autem me accipit, accipit eum qui me misit. John 13:20 amhn amhn legw umin o lambanwn ean tina pemyw eme lambanei o de eme lambanwn lambanei ton pemyanta me John 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
13:21 Cum hæc dixisset Jesus, turbatus est spiritu: et protestatus est, et dixit: Amen, amen dico vobis, quia unus ex vobis tradet me. 13:21 tauta eipwn o ihsouj etaraxqh tw pneumati kai emarturhsen kai eipen amhn amhn legw umin oti eij ec umwn paradwsei me 13:21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
13:22 Aspiciebant ergo ad invicem discipuli, hæsitantes de quo diceret. 13:22 eblepon oun eij allhlouj oi maqhtai aporoumenoi peri tinoj legei 13:22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
13:23 Erat ergo recumbens unus ex discipulis ejus in sinu Jesu, quem diligebat Jesus. 13:23 hn de anakeimenoj eij twn maqhtwn autou en tw kolpw tou ihsou on hgapa o ihsouj 13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
13:24 Innuit ergo huic Simon Petrus, et dixit ei: Quis est, de quo dicit? 13:24 neuei oun toutw simwn petroj puqesqai tij an eih peri ou legei 13:24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
13:25 Itaque cum recubuisset ille supra pectus Jesu, dicit ei: Domine, quis est? 13:25 epipeswn de ekeinoj epi to sthqoj tou ihsou legei autw kurie tij estin 13:25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
13:26 Respondit Jesus: Ille est cui ego intinctum panem porrexero. Et cum intinxisset panem, dedit Judæ Simonis Iscariotæ. 13:26 apokrinetai o ihsouj ekeinoj estin w egw bayaj to ywmion epidwsw kai embayaj to ywmion didwsin iouda simwnoj iskariwth 13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
13:27 Et post buccellam, introivit in eum Satanas. Et dixit ei Jesus: Quod facis, fac citius. 13:27 kai meta to ywmion tote eishlqen eij ekeinon o satanaj legei oun autw o ihsouj o poieij poihson taxion 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
13:28 Hoc autem nemo scivit discumbentium ad quid dixerit ei. 13:28 touto de oudeij egnw twn anakeimenwn proj ti eipen autw 13:28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
13:29 Quidam enim putabant, quia loculos habebat Judas, quod dixisset ei Jesus: Eme ea quæ opus sunt nobis ad diem festum: aut egenis ut aliquid daret. 13:29 tinej gar edokoun epei to glwssokomon eixen o ioudaj oti legei autw o ihsouj agorason wn xreian exomen eij thn eorthn h toij ptwxoij ina ti dw 13:29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
John 13:30 Cum ergo accepisset ille buccellam, exivit continuo. Erat autem nox. John 13:30 labwn oun to ywmion ekeinoj euqewj echlqen hn de nuc John 13:30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
13:31 Cum ergo exisset, dixit Jesus: Nunc clarificatus est Filius hominis, et Deus clarificatus est in eo. 13:31 ote oun echlqen legei o ihsouj nun edocasqh o uioj tou anqrwpou kai o qeoj edocasqh en autw 13:31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
13:32 Si Deus clarificatus est in eo, et Deus clarificabit eum in semetipso: et continuo clarificabit eum. 13:32 ei o qeoj edocasqh en autw kai o qeoj docasei auton en eautw kai euquj docasei auton 13:32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
13:33 Filioli, adhuc modicum vobiscum sum. Quæretis me; et sicut dixi Judæis, quo ego vado, vos non potestis venire: et vobis dico modo. 13:33 teknia eti mikron meq umwn eimi zhthsete me kai kaqwj eipon toij ioudaioij oti opou upagw egw umeij ou dunasqe elqein kai umin legw arti 13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
13:34 Mandatum novum do vobis: ut diligatis invicem: sicut dilexi vos, ut et vos diligatis invicem. 13:34 entolhn kainhn didwmi umin ina agapate allhlouj kaqwj hgaphsa umaj ina kai umeij agapate allhlouj 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
13:35 In hoc cognoscent omnes quia discipuli mei estis, si dilectionem habueritis ad invicem. 13:35 en toutw gnwsontai pantej oti emoi maqhtai este ean agaphn exhte en allhloij 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
13:36 Dicit ei Simon Petrus: Domine, quo vadis? Respondit Jesus: Quo ego vado non potes me modo sequi: sequeris autem postea. 13:36 legei autw simwn petroj kurie pou upageij apekriqh autw o ihsouj opou upagw ou dunasai moi nun akolouqhsai usteron de akolouqhseij moi 13:36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
13:37 Dicit ei Petrus: Quare non possum te sequi modo? animam meam pro te ponam. 13:37 legei autw o petroj kurie dia ti ou dunamai soi akolouqhsai arti thn yuxhn mou uper sou qhsw 13:37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
13:38 Respondit ei Jesus: Animam tuam pro me pones? amen, amen dico tibi: non cantabit gallus, donec ter me neges. 13:38 apekriqh autw o ihsouj thn yuxhn sou uper emou qhseij amhn amhn legw soi ou mh alektwr fwnhsei ewj ou aparnhsh me trij 13:38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
