John 16:1 Hæc locutus sum vobis, ut non scandalizemini. John 16:1 tauta lelalhka umin ina mh skandalisqhte John 16:1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
16:2 Absque synagogis facient vos: sed venit hora, ut omnis qui interficit vos arbitretur obsequium se præstare Deo. 16:2 aposunagwgouj poihsousin umaj all erxetai wra ina paj o apokteinaj umaj doch latreian prosferein tw qew 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
16:3 Et hæc facient vobis, quia non noverunt Patrem, neque me. 16:3 kai tauta poihsousin umin oti ouk egnwsan ton patera oude eme 16:3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
16:4 Sed hæc locutus sum vobis, ut cum venerit hora eorum, reminiscamini quia ego dixi vobis. Hæc autem vobis ab initio non dixi, quia vobiscum eram. 16:4 alla tauta lelalhka umin ina otan elqh h wra mnhmoneuhte autwn oti egw eipon umin tauta de umin ec arxhj ouk eipon oti meq umwn hmhn 16:4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
16:5 Et nunc vado ad eum qui misit me; et nemo ex vobis interrogat me: Quo vadis? 16:5 nun de upagw proj ton pemyanta me kai oudeij ec umwn erwta me pou upageij 16:5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
16:6 sed quia hæc locutus sum vobis, tristitia implevit cor vestrum. 16:6 all oti tauta lelalhka umin h luph peplhrwken umwn thn kardian 16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
16:7 Sed ego veritatem dico vobis: expedit vobis ut ego vadam: si enim non abiero, Paraclitus non veniet ad vos; si autem abiero, mittam eum ad vos. 16:7 all egw thn alhqeian legw umin sumferei umin ina egw apelqw ean gar mh apelqw o paraklhtoj ouk eleusetai proj umaj ean de poreuqw pemyw auton proj umaj 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
16:8 Et cum venerit ille, arguet mundum de peccato, et de justitia, et de judicio. 16:8 kai elqwn ekeinoj elegcei ton kosmon peri amartiaj kai peri dikaiosunhj kai peri krisewj 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
16:9 De peccato quidem, quia non crediderunt in me. 16:9 peri amartiaj men oti ou pisteuousin eij eme 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 16:10 De justitia vero, quia ad Patrem vado, et jam non videbitis me. John 16:10 peri dikaiosunhj de oti proj ton patera mou upagw kai ouk eti qewreite me John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
16:11 De judicio autem, quia princeps hujus mundi jam judicatus est. 16:11 peri de krisewj oti o arxwn tou kosmou toutou kekritai 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
16:12 Adhuc multa habeo vobis dicere, sed non potestis portare modo. 16:12 eti polla exw legein umin all ou dunasqe bastazein arti 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
16:13 Cum autem venerit ille Spiritus veritatis, docebit vos omnem veritatem: non enim loquetur a semetipso, sed quæcumque audiet loquetur, et quæ ventura sunt annuntiabit vobis. 16:13 otan de elqh ekeinoj to pneuma thj alhqeiaj odhghsei umaj eij pasan thn alhqeian ou gar lalhsei af eautou all osa an akoush lalhsei kai ta erxomena anaggelei umin 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
16:14 Ille me clarificabit, quia de meo accipiet, et annuntiabit vobis. 16:14 ekeinoj eme docasei oti ek tou emou lhyetai kai anaggelei umin 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16:15 Omnia quæcumque habet Pater, mea sunt. Propterea dixi: quia de meo accipiet, et annuntiabit vobis. 16:15 panta osa exei o pathr ema estin dia touto eipon oti ek tou emou lhyetai kai anaggelei umin 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16:16 Modicum, et jam non videbitis me; et iterum modicum, et videbitis me: quia vado ad Patrem. 16:16 mikron kai ou qewreite me kai palin mikron kai oyesqe me oti egw upagw proj ton patera 16:16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
16:17 Dixerunt ergo ex discipulis ejus ad invicem: Quid est hoc quod dicit nobis: Modicum, et non videbitis me; et iterum modicum, et videbitis me, et quia vado ad Patrem? 16:17 eipon oun ek twn maqhtwn autou proj allhlouj ti estin touto o legei hmin mikron kai ou qewreite me kai palin mikron kai oyesqe me kai oti egw upagw proj ton patera 16:17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, a little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
16:18 Dicebant ergo: Quid est hoc quod dicit: Modicum? nescimus quid loquitur. 16:18 elegon oun touto ti estin o legei to mikron ouk oidamen ti lalei 16:18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
16:19 Cognovit autem Jesus, quia volebant eum interrogare, et dixit eis: De hoc quæritis inter vos quia dixi: Modicum, et non videbitis me; et iterum modicum, et videbitis me. 16:19 egnw oun o ihsouj oti hqelon auton erwtan kai eipen autoij peri toutou zhteite met allhlwn oti eipon mikron kai ou qewreite me kai palin mikron kai oyesqe me 16:19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
John 16:20 Amen, amen dico vobis: quia plorabitis, et flebitis vos, mundus autem gaudebit; vos autem contristabimini, sed tristitia vestra vertetur in gaudium. John 16:20 amhn amhn legw umin oti klausete kai qrhnhsete umeij o de kosmoj xarhsetai umeij de luphqhsesqe all h luph umwn eij xaran genhsetai John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
16:21 Mulier cum parit, tristitiam habet, quia venit hora ejus; cum autem pepererit puerum, jam non meminit pressuræ propter gaudium, quia natus est homo in mundum. 16:21 h gunh otan tikth luphn exei oti hlqen h wra authj otan de gennhsh to paidion ouk eti mnhmoneuei thj qliyewj dia thn xaran oti egennhqh anqrwpoj eij ton kosmon 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
16:22 Et vos igitur nunc quidem tristitiam habetis, iterum autem videbo vos, et gaudebit cor vestrum: et gaudium vestrum nemo tollet a vobis. 16:22 kai umeij oun luphn men nun exete palin de oyomai umaj kai xarhsetai umwn h kardia kai thn xaran umwn oudeij airei af umwn 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
16:23 Et in illo die me non rogabitis quidquam. Amen, amen dico vobis: si quid petieritis Patrem in nomine meo, dabit vobis. 16:23 kai en ekeinh th hmera eme ouk erwthsete ouden amhn amhn legw umin oti osa an aithshte ton patera en tw onomati mou dwsei umin 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
16:24 Usque modo non petistis quidquam in nomine meo: petite, et accipietis, ut gaudium vestrum sit plenum. 16:24 ewj arti ouk hthsate ouden en tw onomati mou aiteite kai lhyesqe ina h xara umwn h peplhrwmenh 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
16:25 Hæc in proverbiis locutus sum vobis. Venit hora cum jam non in proverbiis loquar vobis, sed palam de Patre annuntiabo vobis: 16:25 tauta en paroimiaij lelalhka umin erxetai wra ote ouk eti en paroimiaij lalhsw umin alla parrhsia peri tou patroj anaggelw umin 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
16:26 in illo die in nomine meo petetis: et non dico vobis quia ego rogabo Patrem de vobis: 16:26 en ekeinh th hmera en tw onomati mou aithsesqe kai ou legw umin oti egw erwthsw ton patera peri umwn 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
16:27 ipse enim Pater amat vos, quia vos me amastis, et credidistis, quia ego a Deo exivi. 16:27 autoj gar o pathr filei umaj oti umeij eme pefilhkate kai pepisteukate oti egw para tou qeou echlqon 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
16:28 Exivi a Patre, et veni in mundum: iterum relinquo mundum, et vado ad Patrem. 16:28 echlqon para tou patroj kai elhluqa eij ton kosmon palin afihmi ton kosmon kai poreuomai proj ton patera 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
16:29 Dicunt ei discipuli ejus: Ecce nunc palam loqueris, et proverbium nullum dicis: 16:29 legousin autw oi maqhtai autou ide nun parrhsia laleij kai paroimian oudemian legeij 16:29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
John 16:30 nunc scimus quia scis omnia, et non opus est tibi ut quis te interroget: in hoc credimus quia a Deo existi. John 16:30 nun oidamen oti oidaj panta kai ou xreian exeij ina tij se erwta en toutw pisteuomen oti apo qeou echlqej John 16:30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
16:31 Respondit eis Jesus: Modo creditis? 16:31 apekriqh autoij o ihsouj arti pisteuete 16:31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
16:32 ecce venit hora, et jam venit, ut dispergamini unusquisque in propria, et me solum relinquatis: et non sum solus, quia Pater mecum est. 16:32 idou erxetai wra kai nun elhluqen ina skorpisqhte ekastoj eij ta idia kai eme monon afhte kai ouk eimi monoj oti o pathr met emou estin 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
16:33 Hæc locutus sum vobis, ut in me pacem habeatis. In mundo pressuram habebitis: sed confidite, ego vici mundum. 16:33 tauta lelalhka umin ina en emoi eirhnhn exhte en tw kosmw qliyin ecete alla qarseite egw nenikhka ton kosmon 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
