Matthew 8:1 Cum autem descendisset de monte, secutæ sunt eum turbæ multæ: Matthew 8:1 katabanti de autw apo tou orouj hkolouqhsan autw oxloi polloi Matthew 8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
8:2 et ecce leprosus veniens, adorabat eum, dicens: Domine, si vis, potes me mundare. 8:2 kai idou leproj elqwn prosekunei autw legwn kurie ean qelhj dunasai me kaqarisai 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
8:3 Et extendens Jesus manum, tetigit eum, dicens: Volo: mundare. Et confestim mundata est lepra ejus. 8:3 kai ekteinaj thn xeira hyato autou o ihsouj legwn qelw kaqarisqhti kai euqewj ekaqarisqh autou h lepra 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
8:4 Et ait illi Jesus: Vide, nemini dixeris: sed vade, ostende te sacerdoti, et offer munus, quod præcepit Moyses, in testimonium illis. 8:4 kai legei autw o ihsouj ora mhdeni eiphj all upage seauton deicon tw ierei kai prosenegke to dwron o prosetacen mwshj eij marturion autoij 8:4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
8:5 Cum autem introisset Capharnaum, accessit ad eum centurio, rogans eum, 8:5 eiselqonti de tw ihsou eij kapernaoum proshlqen autw ekatontarxoj parakalwn auton 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
8:6 et dicens: Domine, puer meus jacet in domo paralyticus, et male torquetur. 8:6 kai legwn kurie o paij mou beblhtai en th oikia paralutikoj deinwj basanizomenoj 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
8:7 Et ait illi Jesus: Ego veniam, et curabo eum. 8:7 kai legei autw o ihsouj egw elqwn qerapeusw auton 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8:8 Et respondens centurio, ait: Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur puer meus. 8:8 kai apokriqeij o ekatontarxoj efh kurie ouk eimi ikanoj ina mou upo thn steghn eiselqhj alla monon eipe logon kai iaqhsetai o paij mou 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
8:9 Nam et ego homo sum sub potestate constitutus, habens sub me milites, et dico huic: Vade, et vadit: et alii: Veni, et venit: et servo meo: Fac hoc, et facit. 8:9 kai gar egw anqrwpoj eimi upo ecousian exwn up emauton stratiwtaj kai legw toutw poreuqhti kai poreuetai kai allw erxou kai erxetai kai tw doulw mou poihson touto kai poiei 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Matthew 8:10 Audiens autem Jesus miratus est, et sequentibus se dixit: Amen dico vobis, non inveni tantam fidem in Israël. Matthew 8:10 akousaj de o ihsouj eqaumasen kai eipen toij akolouqousin amhn legw umin oude en tw israhl tosauthn pistin euron Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
8:11 Dico autem vobis, quod multi ab oriente et occidente venient, et recumbent cum Abraham, et Isaac, et Jacob in regno cælorum: 8:11 legw de umin oti polloi apo anatolwn kai dusmwn hcousin kai anakliqhsontai meta abraam kai isaak kai iakwb en th basileia twn ouranwn 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
8:12 filii autem regni ejicientur in tenebras exteriores: ibi erit fletus et stridor dentium. 8:12 oi de uioi thj basileiaj ekblhqhsontai eij to skotoj to ecwteron ekei estai o klauqmoj kai o brugmoj twn odontwn 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
8:13 Et dixit Jesus centurioni: Vade, et sicut credidisti, fiat tibi. Et sanatus est puer in illa hora. 8:13 kai eipen o ihsouj tw ekatontarxw upage kai wj episteusaj genhqhtw soi kai iaqh o paij autou en th wra ekeinh 8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
8:14 Et cum venisset Jesus in domum Petri, vidit socrum ejus jacentem, et febricitantem: 8:14 kai elqwn o ihsouj eij thn oikian petrou eiden thn penqeran autou beblhmenhn kai puressousan 8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
8:15 et tetigit manum ejus, et dimisit eam febris, et surrexit, et ministrabat eis. 8:15 kai hyato thj xeiroj authj kai afhken authn o puretoj kai hgerqh kai dihkonei autoij 8:15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
8:16 Vespere autem facto, obtulerunt ei multos dæmonia habentes: et ejiciebat spiritus verbo, et omnes male habentes curavit: 8:16 oyiaj de genomenhj proshnegkan autw daimonizomenouj pollouj kai ecebalen ta pneumata logw kai pantaj touj kakwj exontaj eqerapeusen 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
8:17 ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam, dicentem: [Ipse infirmitates nostras accepit: et ægrotationes nostras portavit.] 8:17 opwj plhrwqh to rhqen dia hsaiou tou profhtou legontoj autoj taj asqeneiaj hmwn elaben kai taj nosouj ebastasen 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
8:18 Videns autem Jesus turbas multas circum se, jussit ire trans fretum. 8:18 idwn de o ihsouj pollouj oxlouj peri auton ekeleusen apelqein eij to peran 8:18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.
8:19 Et accedens unus scriba, ait illi: Magister, sequar te, quocumque ieris. 8:19 kai proselqwn eij grammateuj eipen autw didaskale akolouqhsw soi opou ean aperxh 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
Matthew 8:20 Et dicit ei Jesus: Vulpes foveas habent, et volucres cæli nidos; Filius autem hominis non habet ubi caput reclinet. Matthew 8:20 kai legei autw o ihsouj ai alwpekej fwleouj exousin kai ta peteina tou ouranou kataskhnwseij o de uioj tou anqrwpou ouk exei pou thn kefalhn klinh Matthew 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
8:21 Alius autem de discipulis ejus ait illi: Domine, permitte me primum ire, et sepelire patrem meum. 8:21 eteroj de twn maqhtwn autou eipen autw kurie epitreyon moi prwton apelqein kai qayai ton patera mou 8:21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
8:22 Jesus autem ait illi: Sequere me, et dimitte mortuos sepelire mortuos suos. 8:22 o de ihsouj eipen autw akolouqei moi kai afej touj nekrouj qayai touj eautwn nekrouj 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
8:23 Et ascendente eo in naviculam, secuti sunt eum discipuli ejus: 8:23 kai embanti autw eij to ploion hkolouqhsan autw oi maqhtai autou 8:23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
8:24 et ecce motus magnus factus est in mari, ita ut navicula operiretur fluctibus: ipse vero dormiebat. 8:24 kai idou seismoj megaj egeneto en th qalassh wste to ploion kaluptesqai upo twn kumatwn autoj de ekaqeuden 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
8:25 Et accesserunt ad eum discipuli ejus, et suscitaverunt eum, dicentes: Domine, salva nos: perimus. 8:25 kai proselqontej oi maqhtai autou hgeiran auton legontej kurie swson hmaj apollumeqa 8:25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
8:26 Et dicit eis Jesus: Quid timidi estis, modicæ fidei? Tunc surgens imperavit ventis, et mari, et facta est tranquillitas magna. 8:26 kai legei autoij ti deiloi este oligopistoi tote egerqeij epetimhsen toij anemoij kai th qalassh kai egeneto galhnh megalh 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
8:27 Porro homines mirati sunt, dicentes: Qualis est hic, quia venti et mare obediunt ei? 8:27 oi de anqrwpoi eqaumasan legontej potapoj estin outoj oti kai oi anemoi kai h qalassa upakouousin autw 8:27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
8:28 Et cum venisset trans fretum in regionem Gerasenorum, occurrerunt ei duo habentes dæmonia, de monumentis exeuntes, sævi nimis, ita ut nemo posset transire per viam illam. 8:28 kai elqonti autw eij to peran eij thn xwran twn gergeshnwn uphnthsan autw duo daimonizomenoi ek twn mnhmeiwn ecerxomenoi xalepoi lian wste mh isxuein tina parelqein dia thj odou ekeinhj 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
8:29 Et ecce clamaverunt, dicentes: Quid nobis et tibi, Jesu fili Dei? Venisti huc ante tempus torquere nos? 8:29 kai idou ekracan legontej ti hmin kai soi ihsou uie tou qeou hlqej wde pro kairou basanisai hmaj 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Matthew 8:30 Erat autem non longe ab illis grex multorum porcorum pascens. Matthew 8:30 hn de makran ap autwn agelh xoirwn pollwn boskomenh Matthew 8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
8:31 Dæmones autem rogabant eum, dicentes: Si ejicis nos hinc, mitte nos in gregem porcorum. 8:31 oi de daimonej parekaloun auton legontej ei ekballeij hmaj epitreyon hmin apelqein eij thn agelhn twn xoirwn 8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
8:32 Et ait illis: Ite. At illi exeuntes abierunt in porcos, et ecce impetu abiit totus grex per præceps in mare: et mortui sunt in aquis. 8:32 kai eipen autoij upagete oi de ecelqontej aphlqon eij thn agelhn twn xoirwn kai idou wrmhsen pasa h agelh twn xoirwn kata tou krhmnou eij thn qalassan kai apeqanon en toij udasin 8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
8:33 Pastores autem fugerunt: et venientes in civitatem, nuntiaverunt omnia, et de eis qui dæmonia habuerant. 8:33 oi de boskontej efugon kai apelqontej eij thn polin aphggeilan panta kai ta twn daimonizomenwn 8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.
8:34 Et ecce tota civitas exiit obviam Jesu: et viso eo, rogabant ut transiret a finibus eorum. 8:34 kai idou pasa h polij echlqen eij sunanthsin tw ihsou kai idontej auton parekalesan opwj metabh apo twn oriwn autwn 8:34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
