Matthew 19:1 Et factum est, cum consummasset Jesus sermones istos, migravit a Galilæa, et venit in fines Judææ trans Jordanem, Matthew 19:1 kai egeneto ote etelesen o ihsouj touj logouj toutouj methren apo thj galilaiaj kai hlqen eij ta oria thj ioudaiaj peran tou iordanou Matthew 19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
19:2 et secutæ sunt eum turbæ multæ, et curavit eos ibi. 19:2 kai hkolouqhsan autw oxloi polloi kai eqerapeusen autouj ekei 19:2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
19:3 Et accesserunt ad eum pharisæi tentantes eum, et dicentes: Si licet homini dimittere uxorem suam, quacumque ex causa? 19:3 kai proshlqon autw oi farisaioi peirazontej auton kai legontej autw ei ecestin anqrwpw apolusai thn gunaika autou kata pasan aitian 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
19:4 Qui respondens, ait eis: Non legistis, quia qui fecit hominem ab initio, masculum et feminam fecit eos? Et dixit: 19:4 o de apokriqeij eipen autoij ouk anegnwte oti o poihsaj ap arxhj arsen kai qhlu epoihsen autouj 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
19:5 Propter hoc dimittet homo patrem, et matrem, et adhærebit uxori suæ, et erunt duo in carne una. 19:5 kai eipen eneken toutou kataleiyei anqrwpoj ton patera kai thn mhtera kai proskollhqhsetai th gunaiki autou kai esontai oi duo eij sarka mian 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
19:6 Itaque jam non sunt duo, sed una caro. Quod ergo Deus conjunxit, homo non separet. 19:6 wste ouketi eisin duo alla sarc mia o oun o qeoj sunezeucen anqrwpoj mh xwrizetw 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
19:7 Dicunt illi: Quid ergo Moyses mandavit dare libellum repudii, et dimittere? 19:7 legousin autw ti oun mwshj eneteilato dounai biblion apostasiou kai apolusai authn 19:7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
19:8 Ait illis: Quoniam Moyses ad duritiam cordis vestri permisit vobis dimittere uxores vestras: ab initio autem non fuit sic. 19:8 legei autoij oti mwshj proj thn sklhrokardian umwn epetreyen umin apolusai taj gunaikaj umwn ap arxhj de ou gegonen outwj 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
19:9 Dico autem vobis, quia quicumque dimiserit uxorem suam, nisi ob fornicationem, et aliam duxerit, mœchatur: et qui dimissam duxerit, mœchatur. 19:9 legw de umin oti oj an apolush thn gunaika autou ei mh epi porneia kai gamhsh allhn moixatai kai o apolelumenhn gamhsaj moixatai 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Matthew 19:10 Dicunt ei discipuli ejus: Si ita est causa hominis cum uxore, non expedit nubere. Matthew 19:10 legousin autw oi maqhtai autou ei outwj estin h aitia tou anqrwpou meta thj gunaikoj ou sumferei gamhsai Matthew 19:10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
19:11 Qui dixit illis: Non omnes capiunt verbum istud, sed quibus datum est. 19:11 o de eipen autoij ou pantej xwrousin ton logon touton all oij dedotai 19:11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
19:12 Sunt enim eunuchi, qui de matris utero sic nati sunt: et sunt eunuchi, qui facti sunt ab hominibus: et sunt eunuchi, qui seipsos castraverunt propter regnum cælorum. Qui potest capere capiat. 19:12 eisin gar eunouxoi oitinej ek koiliaj mhtroj egennhqhsan outwj kai eisin eunouxoi oitinej eunouxisqhsan upo twn anqrwpwn kai eisin eunouxoi oitinej eunouxisan eautouj dia thn basileian twn ouranwn o dunamenoj xwrein xwreitw 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
19:13 Tunc oblati sunt ei parvuli, ut manus eis imponeret, et oraret. Discipuli autem increpabant eos. 19:13 tote proshnexqh autw paidia ina taj xeiraj epiqh autoij kai proseuchtai oi de maqhtai epetimhsan autoij 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
19:14 Jesus vero ait eis: Sinite parvulos, et nolite eos prohibere ad me venire: talium est enim regnum cælorum. 19:14 o de ihsouj eipen afete ta paidia kai mh kwluete auta elqein proj me twn gar toioutwn estin h basileia twn ouranwn 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
19:15 Et cum imposuisset eis manus, abiit inde. 19:15 kai epiqeij autoij taj xeiraj eporeuqh ekeiqen 19:15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
19:16 Et ecce unus accedens, ait illi: Magister bone, quid boni faciam ut habeam vitam æternam? 19:16 kai idou eij proselqwn eipen autw didaskale agaqe ti agaqon poihsw ina exw zwhn aiwnion 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
19:17 Qui dixit ei: Quid me interrogas de bono? Unus est bonus, Deus. Si autem vis ad vitam ingredi, serva mandata. 19:17 o de eipen autw ti me legeij agaqon oudeij agaqoj ei mh eij o qeoj ei de qeleij eiselqein eij thn zwhn thrhson taj entolaj 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
19:18 Dicit illi: Quæ? Jesus autem dixit: Non homicidium facies; non adulterabis; non facies furtum; non falsum testimonium dices; 19:18 legei autw poiaj o de ihsouj eipen to ou foneuseij ou moixeuseij ou kleyeij ou yeudomarturhseij 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19:19 honora patrem tuum, et matrem tuam, et diliges proximum tuum sicut teipsum. 19:19 tima ton patera sou kai thn mhtera kai agaphseij ton plhsion sou wj seauton 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 19:20 Dicit illi adolescens: Omnia hæc custodivi a juventute mea: quid adhuc mihi deest? Matthew 19:20 legei autw o neaniskoj panta tauta efulacamhn ek neothtoj mou ti eti usterw Matthew 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
19:21 Ait illi Jesus: Si vis perfectus esse, vade, vende quæ habes, et da pauperibus, et habebis thesaurum in cælo: et veni, sequere me. 19:21 efh autw o ihsouj ei qeleij teleioj einai upage pwlhson sou ta uparxonta kai doj ptwxoij kai eceij qhsauron en ouranw kai deuro akolouqei moi 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
19:22 Cum audisset autem adolescens verbum, abiit tristis: erat enim habens multas possessiones. 19:22 akousaj de o neaniskoj ton logon aphlqen lupoumenoj hn gar exwn kthmata polla 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
19:23 Jesus autem dixit discipulis suis: Amen dico vobis, quia dives difficile intrabit in regnum cælorum. 19:23 o de ihsouj eipen toij maqhtaij autou amhn legw umin oti duskolwj plousioj eiseleusetai eij thn basileian twn ouranwn 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
19:24 Et iterum dico vobis: Facilius est camelum per foramen acus transire, quam divitem intrare in regnum cælorum. 19:24 palin de legw umin eukopwteron estin kamhlon dia truphmatoj rafidoj dielqein h plousion eij thn basileian tou qeou eiselqein 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
19:25 Auditis autem his, discipuli mirabantur valde, dicentes: Quis ergo poterit salvus esse? 19:25 akousantej de oi maqhtai autou eceplhssonto sfodra legontej tij ara dunatai swqhnai 19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
19:26 Aspiciens autem Jesus, dixit illis: Apud homines hoc impossibile est: apud Deum autem omnia possibilia sunt. 19:26 embleyaj de o ihsouj eipen autoij para anqrwpoij touto adunaton estin para de qew panta dunata estin 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
19:27 Tunc respondens Petrus, dixit ei: Ecce nos reliquimus omnia, et secuti sumus te: quid ergo erit nobis? 19:27 tote apokriqeij o petroj eipen autw idou hmeij afhkamen panta kai hkolouqhsamen soi ti ara estai hmin 19:27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
19:28 Jesus autem dixit illis: Amen dico vobis, quod vos, qui secuti estis me, in regeneratione cum sederit Filius hominis in sede majestatis suæ, sedebitis et vos super sedes duodecim, judicantes duodecim tribus Israël. 19:28 o de ihsouj eipen autoij amhn legw umin oti umeij oi akolouqhsantej moi en th paliggenesia otan kaqish o uioj tou anqrwpou epi qronou dochj autou kaqisesqe kai umeij epi dwdeka qronouj krinontej taj dwdeka fulaj tou israhl 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
19:29 Et omnis qui reliquerit domum, vel fratres, aut sorores, aut patrem, aut matrem, aut uxorem, aut filios, aut agros propter nomen meum, centuplum accipiet, et vitam æternam possidebit. 19:29 kai paj oj afhken oikiaj h adelfouj h adelfaj h patera h mhtera h gunaika h tekna h agrouj eneken tou onomatoj mou ekatontaplasiona lhyetai kai zwhn aiwnion klhronomhsei 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Matthew 19:30 Multi autem erunt primi novissimi, et novissimi primi. Matthew 19:30 polloi de esontai prwtoi esxatoi kai esxatoi prwtoi Matthew 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
