Matthew 12:1 In illo tempore abiit Jesus per sata sabbato: discipuli autem ejus esurientes cœperunt vellere spicas, et manducare. Matthew 12:1 en ekeinw tw kairw eporeuqh o ihsouj toij sabbasin dia twn sporimwn oi de maqhtai autou epeinasan kai hrcanto tillein staxuaj kai esqiein Matthew 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
12:2 Pharisæi autem videntes, dixerunt ei: Ecce discipuli tui faciunt quod non licet facere sabbatis. 12:2 oi de farisaioi idontej eipon autw idou oi maqhtai sou poiousin o ouk ecestin poiein en sabbatw 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
12:3 At ille dixit eis: Non legistis quid fecerit David, quando esuriit, et qui cum eo erant: 12:3 o de eipen autoij ouk anegnwte ti epoihsen dabid ote epeinasen autoj kai oi met autou 12:3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
12:4 quomodo intravit in domum Dei, et panes propositionis comedit, quos non licebat ei edere, neque his qui cum eo erant, nisi solis sacerdotibus? 12:4 pwj eishlqen eij ton oikon tou qeou kai touj artouj thj proqesewj efagen ouj ouk econ hn autw fagein oude toij met autou ei mh toij iereusin monoij 12:4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
12:5 aut non legistis in lege quia sabbatis sacerdotes in templo sabbatum violant, et sine crimine sunt? 12:5 h ouk anegnwte en tw nomw oti toij sabbasin oi iereij en tw ierw to sabbaton bebhlousin kai anaitioi eisin 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
12:6 Dico autem vobis, quia templo major est hic. 12:6 legw de umin oti tou ierou meizwn estin wde 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
12:7 Si autem sciretis, quid est: Misericordiam volo, et non sacrificium: numquam condemnassetis innocentes: 12:7 ei de egnwkeite ti estin eleon qelw kai ou qusian ouk an katedikasate touj anaitiouj 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
12:8 dominus enim est Filius hominis etiam sabbati. 12:8 kurioj gar estin kai tou sabbatou o uioj tou anqrwpou 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
12:9 Et cum inde transisset, venit in synagogam eorum. 12:9 kai metabaj ekeiqen hlqen eij thn sunagwghn autwn 12:9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
Matthew 12:10 Et ecce homo manum habens aridam, et interrogabant eum, dicentes: Si licet sabbatis curare? ut accusarent eum. Matthew 12:10 kai idou anqrwpoj hn thn xeira exwn chran kai ephrwthsan auton legontej ei ecestin toij sabbasin qerapeuein ina kathgorhswsin autou Matthew 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
12:11 Ipse autem dixit illis: Quis erit ex vobis homo, qui habeat ovem unam, et si ceciderit hæc sabbatis in foveam, nonne tenebit et levabit eam? 12:11 o de eipen autoij tij estai ec umwn anqrwpoj oj ecei probaton en kai ean empesh touto toij sabbasin eij boqunon ouxi krathsei auto kai egerei 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12:12 Quanto magis melior est homo ove? itaque licet sabbatis benefacere. 12:12 posw oun diaferei anqrwpoj probatou wste ecestin toij sabbasin kalwj poiein 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
12:13 Tunc ait homini: Extende manum tuam. Et extendit, et restituta est sanitati sicut altera. 12:13 tote legei tw anqrwpw ekteinon thn xeira sou kai eceteinen kai apokatestaqh ugihj wj h allh 12:13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
12:14 Exeuntes autem pharisæi, consilium faciebant adversus eum, quomodo perderent eum. 12:14 oi de farisaioi sumboulion elabon kat autou ecelqontej opwj auton apoleswsin 12:14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
12:15 Jesus autem sciens recessit inde: et secuti sunt eum multi, et curavit eos omnes: 12:15 o de ihsouj gnouj anexwrhsen ekeiqen kai hkolouqhsan autw oxloi polloi kai eqerapeusen autouj pantaj 12:15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
12:16 et præcepit eis ne manifestum eum facerent. 12:16 kai epetimhsen autoij ina mh faneron auton poihswsin 12:16 And charged them that they should not make him known:
12:17 Ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam, dicentem: 12:17 opwj plhrwqh to rhqen dia hsaiou tou profhtou legontoj 12:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
12:18 [Ecce puer meus, quem elegi, dilectus meus, in quo bene complacuit animæ meæ. Ponam spiritum meum super eum, et judicium gentibus nuntiabit. 12:18 idou o paij mou on hretisa o agaphtoj mou eij on eudokhsen h yuxh mou qhsw to pneuma mou ep auton kai krisin toij eqnesin apaggelei 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
12:19 Non contendet, neque clamabit,neque audiet aliquis in plateis vocem ejus: 12:19 ouk erisei oude kraugasei oude akousei tij en taij plateiaij thn fwnhn autou 12:19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
Matthew 12:20 arundinem quassatam non confringet, et linum fumigans non extinguet, donec ejiciat ad victoriam judicium: Matthew 12:20 kalamon suntetrimmenon ou kateacei kai linon tufomenon ou sbesei ewj an ekbalh eij nikoj thn krisin Matthew 12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

12:22 Tunc oblatus est ei dæmonium habens, cæcus, et mutus, et curavit eum ita ut loqueretur, et videret. 12:22 tote proshnexqh autw daimonizomenoj tufloj kai kwfoj kai eqerapeusen auton wste ton tuflon kai kwfon kai lalein kai blepein 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
12:23 Et stupebant omnes turbæ, et dicebant: Numquid hic est filius David? 12:23 kai ecistanto pantej oi oxloi kai elegon mhti outoj estin o uioj dabid 12:23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
12:24 Pharisæi autem audientes, dixerunt: Hic non ejicit dæmones nisi in Beelzebub principe dæmoniorum. 12:24 oi de farisaioi akousantej eipon outoj ouk ekballei ta daimonia ei mh en tw beelzeboul arxonti twn daimoniwn 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
12:25 Jesus autem sciens cogitationes eorum, dixit eis: Omne regnum divisum contra se desolabitur: et omnis civitas vel domus divisa contra se, non stabit. 12:25 eidwj de o ihsouj taj enqumhseij autwn eipen autoij pasa basileia merisqeisa kaq eauthj erhmoutai kai pasa polij h oikia merisqeisa kaq eauthj ou staqhsetai 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
12:26 Et si Satanas Satanam ejicit, adversus se divisus est: quomodo ergo stabit regnum ejus? 12:26 kai ei o satanaj ton satanan ekballei ef eauton emerisqh pwj oun staqhsetai h basileia autou 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
12:27 Et si ego in Beelzebub ejicio dæmones, filii vestri in quo ejiciunt? ideo ipsi judices vestri erunt. 12:27 kai ei egw en beelzeboul ekballw ta daimonia oi uioi umwn en tini ekballousin dia touto autoi umwn esontai kritai 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
12:2828 Si autem ego in Spiritu Dei ejicio dæmones, igitur pervenit in vos regnum Dei. 12:28 ei de egw en pneumati qeou ekballw ta daimonia ara efqasen ef umaj h basileia tou qeou 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
12:29 Aut quomodo potest quisquam intrare in domum fortis, et vasa ejus diripere, nisi prius alligaverit fortem? et tunc domum illius diripiet. 12:29 h pwj dunatai tij eiselqein eij thn oikian tou isxurou kai ta skeuh autou diarpasai ean mh prwton dhsh ton isxuron kai tote thn oikian autou diarpasei 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Matthew 12:30 Qui non est mecum, contra me est; et qui non congregat mihi, spargit. Matthew 12:30 o mh wn met emou kat emou estin kai o mh sunagwn met emou skorpizei Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
12:31 Ideo dico vobis: Omne peccatum et blasphemia remittetur hominibus, Spiritus autem blasphemia non remittetur. 12:31 dia touto legw umin pasa amartia kai blasfhmia afeqhsetai toij anqrwpoij h de tou pneumatoj blasfhmia ouk afeqhsetai toij anqrwpoij 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
12:32 Et quicumque dixerit verbum contra Filium hominis, remittetur ei: qui autem dixerit contra Spiritum Sanctum, non remittetur ei, neque in hoc sæculo, neque in futuro. 12:32 kai oj an eiph logon kata tou uiou tou anqrwpou afeqhsetai autw oj d an eiph kata tou pneumatoj tou agiou ouk afeqhsetai autw oute en toutw tw aiwni oute en tw mellonti 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
12:33 Aut facite arborem bonam, et fructum ejus bonum: aut facite arborem malam, et fructum ejus malum: siquidem ex fructu arbor agnoscitur. 12:33 h poihsate to dendron kalon kai ton karpon autou kalon h poihsate to dendron sapron kai ton karpon autou sapron ek gar tou karpou to dendron ginwsketai 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
12:3434 Progenies viperarum, quomodo potestis bona loqui, cum sitis mali? ex abundantia enim cordis os loquitur. 12:34 gennhmata exidnwn pwj dunasqe agaqa lalein ponhroi ontej ek gar tou perisseumatoj thj kardiaj to stoma lalei 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
12:35 Bonus homo de bono thesauro profert bona: et malus homo de malo thesauro profert mala. 12:35 o agaqoj anqrwpoj ek tou agaqou qhsaurou thj kardiaj ekballei ta agaqa kai o ponhroj anqrwpoj ek tou ponhrou qhsaurou ekballei ponhra 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
12:36 Dico autem vobis quoniam omne verbum otiosum, quod locuti fuerint homines, reddent rationem de eo in die judicii. 12:36 legw de umin oti pan rhma argon o ean lalhswsin oi anqrwpoi apodwsousin peri autou logon en hmera krisewj 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
12:37 Ex verbis enim tuis justificaberis et ex verbis tuis condemnaberis. 12:37 ek gar twn logwn sou dikaiwqhsh kai ek twn logwn sou katadikasqhsh 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
12:38 Tunc responderunt ei quidam de scribis et pharisæis, dicentes: Magister, volumus a te signum videre. 12:38 tote apekriqhsan tinej twn grammatewn kai farisaiwn legontej didaskale qelomen apo sou shmeion idein 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
12:39 Qui respondens ait illis: Generatio mala et adultera signum quærit: et signum non dabitur ei, nisi signum Jonæ prophetæ. 12:39 o de apokriqeij eipen autoij genea ponhra kai moixalij shmeion epizhtei kai shmeion ou doqhsetai auth ei mh to shmeion iwna tou profhtou 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Matthew 12:40 Sicut enim fuit Jonas in ventre ceti tribus diebus, et tribus noctibus, sic erit Filius hominis in corde terræ tribus diebus et tribus noctibus. 12:41 Viri Ninivitæ surgent in judicio cum generatione ista, et condemnabunt eam: quia pœnitentiam egerunt in prædicatione Jonæ, et ecce plus quam Jonas hic. 12:41 andrej nineuitai anasthsontai en th krisei meta thj geneaj tauthj kai katakrinousin authn oti metenohsan eij to khrugma iwna kai idou pleion iwna wde 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
12:42 Regina austri surget in judicio cum generatione ista, et condemnabit eam: quia venit a finibus terræ audire sapientiam Salomonis, et ecce plus quam Salomon hic. 12:42 basilissa notou egerqhsetai en th krisei meta thj geneaj tauthj kai katakrinei authn oti hlqen ek twn peratwn thj ghj akousai thn sofian solomwntoj kai idou pleion solomwntoj wde 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
12:43 Cum autem immundus spiritus exierit ab homine, ambulat per loca arida, quærens requiem, et non invenit. 12:43 otan de to akaqarton pneuma ecelqh apo tou anqrwpou dierxetai di anudrwn topwn zhtoun anapausin kai oux euriskei 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
12:44 Tunc dicit: Revertar in domum meam, unde exivi. Et veniens invenit eam vacantem, scopis mundatam, et ornatam. 12:44 tote legei epistreyw eij ton oikon mou oqen echlqon kai elqon euriskei sxolazonta sesarwmenon kai kekosmhmenon 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
12:45 Tunc vadit, et assumit septem alios spiritus secum nequiores se, et intrantes habitant ibi: et fiunt novissima hominis illius pejora prioribus. Sic erit et generationi huic pessimæ. 12:45 tote poreuetai kai paralambanei meq eautou epta etera pneumata ponhrotera eautou kai eiselqonta katoikei ekei kai ginetai ta esxata tou anqrwpou ekeinou xeirona twn prwtwn outwj estai kai th genea tauth th ponhra 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

12:48 At ipse respondens dicenti sibi, ait: Quæ est mater mea, et qui sunt fratres mei? 12:48 o de apokriqeij eipen tw eiponti autw tij estin h mhthr mou kai tinej eisin oi adelfoi mou 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
12:49 Et extendens manum in discipulos suos, dixit: Ecce mater mea, et fratres mei. 12:49 kai ekteinaj thn xeira autou epi touj maqhtaj autou eipen idou h mhthr mou kai oi adelfoi mou 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Matthew 12:50 Quicumque enim fecerit voluntatem Patris mei, qui in cælis est, ipse meus frater, et soror, et mater est. Matthew 12:50 ostij gar an poihsh to qelhma tou patroj mou tou en ouranoij autoj mou adelfoj kai adelfh kai mhthr estin Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
