MATTHEW CHAPTER 24

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Matthew 24:1 καὶ ἐξελθὼν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐπορεύετο ἀπὸ τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπιδεῖξαι αὐτῷ τὰς οἰκοδομὰς τοῦ ἱεροῦ Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
24:2 ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς οὐ βλέπετε πάντα ταῦτα ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν οὐ μὴ ἀφεθῇ ὧδε λίθος ἐπὶ λίθον ὃς οὐ μὴ καταλυθήσεται 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
24:3 καθημένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦ ὄρους τῶν ἐλαιῶν προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ κατ᾽ ἰδίαν λέγοντες εἰπὲ ἡμῖν πότε ταῦτα ἔσται καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον τῆς σῆς παρουσίας καὶ τῆς συντελείας τοῦ αἰῶνος 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
24:4 Et respondens Jesus, dixit eis: Videte ne quis vos seducat: 24:4 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς βλέπετε μή τις ὑμᾶς πλανήσῃ 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
24:5 πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγοντες ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ χριστός καὶ πολλοὺς πλανήσουσιν 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
24:6 Audituri enim estis prælia, et opiniones præliorum. Videte ne turbemini: oportet enim hæc fieri, sed nondum est finis: 24:6 μελλήσετε δὲ ἀκούειν πολέμους καὶ ἀκοὰς πολέμων ὁρᾶτε μὴ θροεῖσθε δεῖ γὰρ πάντα γενέσθαι ἀλλ᾽ οὔπω ἐστὶν τὸ τέλος 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
24:7 consurget enim gens in gentem, et regnum in regnum, et erunt pestilentiæ, et fames, et terræmotus per loca: 24:7 ἐγερθήσεται γὰρ ἔθνος ἐπὶ ἔθνος καὶ βασιλεία ἐπὶ βασιλείαν καὶ ἔσονται λιμοὶ καὶ λοιμοί καὶ σεισμοὶ κατὰ τόπους 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
24:8 hæc autem omnia initia sunt dolorum. 24:8 πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἀρχὴ ὠδίνων 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
24:9 Tunc tradent vos in tribulationem, et occident vos: et eritis odio omnibus gentibus propter nomen meum. 24:9 τότε παραδώσουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς θλῖψιν καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Matthew 24:10 Et tunc scandalizabuntur multi, et invicem tradent, et odio habebunt invicem. Matthew 24:10 καὶ τότε σκανδαλισθήσονται πολλοὶ καὶ ἀλλήλους παραδώσουσιν καὶ μισήσουσιν ἀλλήλους Matthew 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
24:11 Et multi pseudoprophetæ surgent, et seducent multos. 24:11 καὶ πολλοὶ ψευδοπροφῆται ἐγερθήσονται καὶ πλανήσουσιν πολλούς 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
24:12 Et quoniam abundavit iniquitas, refrigescet caritas multorum: 24:12 καὶ διὰ τὸ πληθυνθῆναι τὴν ἀνομίαν ψυγήσεται ἡ ἀγάπη τῶν πολλῶν 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
24:13 ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
24:14 καὶ κηρυχθήσεται τοῦτο τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ οἰκουμένῃ εἰς μαρτύριον πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ τότε ἥξει τὸ τέλος 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
24:15 Cum ergo videritis abominationem desolationis, quæ dicta est a Daniele propheta, stantem in loco sancto, qui legit, intelligat: 24:15 ὅταν οὖν ἴδητε τὸ βδέλυγμα τῆς ἐρημώσεως τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ δανιὴλ τοῦ προφήτου ἑστὸς ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ ὁ ἀναγινώσκων νοείτω 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
24:16 tunc qui in Judæa sunt, fugiant ad montes: 24:16 τότε οἱ ἐν τῇ ἰουδαίᾳ φευγέτωσαν ἐπί τὰ ὄρη 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
24:17 et qui in tecto, non descendat tollere aliquid de domo sua: 24:17 ὁ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος μὴ καταβαινέτω ἆραι τι ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
24:18 et qui in agro, non revertatur tollere tunicam suam. 24:18 καὶ ὁ ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ μὴ ἐπιστρεψάτω ὀπίσω ἆραι τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
24:19 οὐαὶ δὲ ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις καὶ ταῖς θηλαζούσαις ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Matthew 24:20 Orate autem ut non fiat fuga vestra in hieme, vel sabbato: Matthew 24:20 προσεύχεσθε δὲ ἵνα μὴ γένηται ἡ φυγὴ ὑμῶν χειμῶνος μηδὲ ἐν σαββάτῳ Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
24:21 erit enim tunc tribulatio magna, qualis non fuit ab initio mundi usque modo, neque fiet. 24:21 ἔσται γὰρ τότε θλῖψις μεγάλη οἵα οὐ γέγονεν ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς κόσμου ἕως τοῦ νῦν οὐδ᾽ οὐ μὴ γένηται 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
24:22 καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐκολοβώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι οὐκ ἂν ἐσώθη πᾶσα σάρξ διὰ δὲ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς κολοβωθήσονται αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
24:23 τότε ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ ἰδού ὧδε ὁ χριστός ἤ ὧδε μὴ πιστεύσητε 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24:24 ἐγερθήσονται γὰρ ψευδόχριστοι καὶ ψευδοπροφῆται καὶ δώσουσιν σημεῖα μεγάλα καὶ τέρατα ὥστε πλανῆσαι εἰ δυνατόν καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτούς 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
24:25 Ecce prædixi vobis. 24:25 ἰδού προείρηκα ὑμῖν 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
24:26 Si ergo dixerint vobis: Ecce in deserto est, nolite exire; Ecce in penetralibus, nolite credere. 24:26 ἐὰν οὖν εἴπωσιν ὑμῖν ἰδού ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐστίν μὴ ἐξέλθητε ἰδού ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις μὴ πιστεύσητε 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
24:27 ὥσπερ γὰρ ἡ ἀστραπὴ ἐξέρχεται ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ φαίνεται ἕως δυσμῶν οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:28 Ubicumque fuerit corpus, illic congregabuntur et aquilæ. 24:28 ὅπου γὰρ ἐὰν ᾖ τὸ πτῶμα ἐκεῖ συναχθήσονται οἱ ἀετοί 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
24:29 Statim autem post tribulationem dierum illorum sol obscurabitur, et luna non dabit lumen suum, et stellæ cadent de cælo, et virtutes cælorum commovebuntur: 24:29 εὐθέως δὲ μετὰ τὴν θλῖψιν τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκείνων ὁ ἥλιος σκοτισθήσεται καὶ ἡ σελήνη οὐ δώσει τὸ φέγγος αὐτῆς καὶ οἱ ἀστέρες πεσοῦνται ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις τῶν οὐρανῶν σαλευθήσονται 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Matthew 24:30 et tunc parebit signum Filii hominis in cælo: et tunc plangent omnes tribus terræ: et videbunt Filium hominis venientem in nubibus cæli cum virtute multa et majestate. Matthew 24:30 καὶ τότε φανήσεται τὸ σημεῖον τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ καὶ τότε κόψονται πᾶσαι αἱ φυλαὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὄψονται τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐπὶ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ μετὰ δυνάμεως καὶ δόξης πολλῆς Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
24:31 Et mittet angelos suos cum tuba, et voce magna: et congregabunt electos ejus a quatuor ventis, a summis cælorum usque ad terminos eorum. 24:31 καὶ ἀποστελεῖ τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ μετὰ σάλπιγγος φωνῆς μεγάλης καὶ ἐπισυνάξουσιν τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων ἀνέμων ἀπ᾽ ἄκρων οὐρανῶν ἕως ἄκρων αὐτῶν 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
24:32 Ab arbore autem fici discite parabolam: cum jam ramus ejus tener fuerit, et folia nata, scitis quia prope est æstas: 24:32 ἀπὸ δὲ τῆς συκῆς μάθετε τὴν παραβολήν ὅταν ἤδη ὁ κλάδος αὐτῆς γένηται ἁπαλὸς καὶ τὰ φύλλα ἐκφύῃ γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγὺς τὸ θέρος 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
24:33 ita et vos cum videritis hæc omnia, scitote quia prope est, in januis. 24:33 οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅταν ἴδητε πάντα ταῦτα γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγύς ἐστιν ἐπὶ θύραις 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
24:34 Amen dico vobis, quia non præteribit generatio hæc, donec omnia hæc fiant. 24:34 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἡ γενεὰ αὕτη ἕως ἂν πάντα ταῦτα γένηται 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
24:35 ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ παρελεύσονται οἱ δὲ λόγοι μου οὐ μὴ παρέλθωσιν 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
24:36 περὶ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης καὶ τῆς ὥρας οὐδεὶς οἶδεν οὐδὲ οἱ ἄγγελοι τῶν οὐρανῶν εἰ μὴ ὁ πατὴρ μου μόνος 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
24:37 Sicut autem in diebus Noë, ita erit et adventus Filii hominis: 24:37 ὥσπερ δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ νῶε οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:38 sicut enim erant in diebus ante diluvium comedentes et bibentes, nubentes et nuptum tradentes, usque ad eum diem, quo intravit Noë in arcam, 24:38 ὥσπερ γὰρ ἦσαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ταῖς πρὸ τοῦ κατακλυσμοῦ τρώγοντες καὶ πίνοντες γαμοῦντες καὶ ἐκγαμίζοντες ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας εἰσῆλθεν νῶε εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
24:39 καὶ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ἕως ἦλθεν ὁ κατακλυσμὸς καὶ ἦρεν ἅπαντας οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matthew 24:40 Tunc duo erunt in agro: unus assumetur, et unus relinquetur. Matthew 24:40 τότε δύο ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ ὁ εἷς παραλαμβάνεται καὶ ὁ εἷς ἀφίεται Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
24:41 Duæ molentes in mola: una assumetur, et una relinquetur. 24:41 δύο ἀλήθουσαι ἐν τῷ μύλωνι μία παραλαμβάνεται καὶ μία ἀφίεται 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
24:42 Vigilate ergo, quia nescitis qua hora Dominus vester venturus sit. 24:42 γρηγορεῖτε οὖν ὅτι οὐκ οἴδατε ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κύριος ὑμῶν ἔρχεται 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
24:43 ἐκεῖνο δὲ γινώσκετε ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ φυλακῇ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται ἐγρηγόρησεν ἂν καὶ οὐκ ἂν εἴασεν διορυγῆναι τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
24:44 διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
24:45 τίς ἄρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς δοῦλος καὶ φρόνιμος ὃν κατέστησεν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς θεραπείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ διδόναι αὐτοῖς τὴν τροφὴν ἐν καιρῷ 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
24:46 Beatus ille servus, quem cum venerit dominus ejus, invenerit sic facientem. 24:46 μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει ποιοῦντα οὕτως 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
24:47 Amen dico vobis, quoniam super omnia bona sua constituet eum. 24:47 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
24:48 Si autem dixerit malus servus ille in corde suo: Moram fecit dominus meus venire: 24:48 ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ κακὸς δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ χρονίζει ὁ κύριος μου ἐλθεῖν 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
24:49 et cœperit percutere conservos suos, manducet autem et bibat cum ebriosis: 24:49 καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς συνδούλους ἐσθίειν δὲ καὶ πίνειν μετὰ τῶν μεθυόντων 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Matthew 24:50 veniet dominus servi illius in die qua non sperat, et hora qua ignorat: Matthew 24:50 ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει Matthew 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
24:51 καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτὸν καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ὑποκριτῶν θήσει ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
