Matthew 17:1 Et post dies sex assumit Jesus Petrum, et Jacobum, et Joannem fratrem ejus, et ducit illos in montem excelsum seorsum: Matthew 17:1 kai meq hmeraj ec paralambanei o ihsouj ton petron kai iakwbon kai iwannhn ton adelfon autou kai anaferei autouj eij oroj uyhlon kat idian Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
17:2 et transfiguratus est ante eos. Et resplenduit facies ejus sicut sol: vestimenta autem ejus facta sunt alba sicut nix. 17:2 kai metemorfwqh emprosqen autwn kai elamyen to proswpon autou wj o hlioj ta de imatia autou egeneto leuka wj to fwj 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
17:3 Et ecce apparuerunt illis Moyses et Elias cum eo loquentes. 17:3 kai idou wfqhsan autoij mwshj kai hliaj met autou sullalountej 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
17:4 Respondens autem Petrus, dixit ad Jesum: Domine, bonum est nos hic esse: si vis, faciamus tria tabernacula, tibi unum, Moysi unum, et Eliæ unum. 17:4 apokriqeij de o petroj eipen tw ihsou kurie kalon estin hmaj wde einai ei qeleij poihswmen wde treij skhnaj soi mian kai mwsh mian kai mian hlia 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
17:5 Adhuc eo loquente, ecce nubes lucida obumbravit eos. Et ecce vox de nube, dicens: Hic est Filius meus dilectus, in quo mihi bene complacui: ipsum audite. 17:5 eti autou lalountoj idou nefelh fwteinh epeskiasen autouj kai idou fwnh ek thj nefelhj legousa outoj estin o uioj mou o agaphtoj en w eudokhsa autou akouete 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
17:6 Et audientes discipuli ceciderunt in faciem suam, et timuerunt valde. 17:6 kai akousantej oi maqhtai epeson epi proswpon autwn kai efobhqhsan sfodra 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
17:7 Et accessit Jesus, et tetigit eos: dixitque eis: Surgite, et nolite timere. 17:7 kai proselqwn o ihsouj hyato autwn kai eipen egerqhte kai mh fobeisqe 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
17:8 Levantes autem oculos suos, neminem viderunt, nisi solum Jesum. 17:8 eparantej de touj ofqalmouj autwn oudena eidon ei mh ton ihsoun monon 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
17:9 Et descendentibus illis de monte, præcepit eis Jesus, dicens: Nemini dixeritis visionem, donec Filius hominis a mortuis resurgat. 17:9 kai katabainontwn autwn apo tou orouj eneteilato autoij o ihsouj legwn mhdeni eiphte to orama ewj ou o uioj tou anqrwpou ek nekrwn anasth 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
Matthew 17:10 Et interrogaverunt eum discipuli, dicentes: Quid ergo scribæ dicunt, quod Eliam oporteat primum venire? Matthew 17:10 kai ephrwthsan auton oi maqhtai autou legontej ti oun oi grammateij legousin oti hlian dei elqein prwton Matthew 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
17:11 At ille respondens, ait eis: Elias quidem venturus est, et restituet omnia. 17:11 o de ihsouj apokriqeij eipen autoij hliaj men erxetai prwton kai apokatasthsei panta 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
17:12 Dico autem vobis, quia Elias jam venit, et non cognoverunt eum, sed fecerunt in eo quæcumque voluerunt. Sic et Filius hominis passurus est ab eis. 17:12 legw de umin oti hliaj hdh hlqen kai ouk epegnwsan auton all epoihsan en autw osa hqelhsan outwj kai o uioj tou anqrwpou mellei pasxein up autwn 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
17:13 Tunc intellexerunt discipuli, quia de Joanne Baptista dixisset eis. 17:13 tote sunhkan oi maqhtai oti peri iwannou tou baptistou eipen autoij 17:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
17:14 Et cum venisset ad turbam, accessit ad eum homo genibus provolutus ante eum, dicens: 17:14 kai elqontwn autwn proj ton oxlon proshlqen autw anqrwpoj gonupetwn autw kai legwn 17:14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
17:15 Domine, miserere filio meo, quia lunaticus est, et male patitur: nam sæpe cadit in ignem, et crebro in aquam. 17:15 kurie elehson mou ton uion oti selhniazetai kai kakwj pasxei pollakij gar piptei eij to pur kai pollakij eij to udwr 17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
17:16 Et obtuli eum discipulis tuis, et non potuerunt curare eum. 17:16 kai proshnegka auton toij maqhtaij sou kai ouk hdunhqhsan auton qerapeusai 17:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17:17 Respondens autem Jesus, ait: O generatio incredula, et perversa, quousque ero vobiscum? usquequo patiar vos? Afferte huc illum ad me. 17:17 apokriqeij de o ihsouj eipen w genea apistoj kai diestrammenh ewj pote esomai meq umwn ewj pote anecomai umwn ferete moi auton wde 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
17:18 Et increpavit illum Jesus, et exiit ab eo dæmonium, et curatus est puer ex illa hora. 17:18 kai epetimhsen autw o ihsouj kai echlqen ap autou to daimonion kai eqerapeuqh o paij apo thj wraj ekeinhj 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
17:19 Tunc accesserunt discipuli ad Jesum secreto, et dixerunt: Quare nos non potuimus ejicere illum? 17:19 tote proselqontej oi maqhtai tw ihsou kat idian eipon dia ti hmeij ouk hdunhqhmen ekbalein auto 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Matthew 17:20 Dixit illis Jesus: Propter incredulitatem vestram. Amen quippe dico vobis, si habueritis fidem sicut granum sinapis, dicetis monti huic: Transi hinc illuc, et transibit, et nihil impossibile erit vobis. Matthew 17:20 o de ihsouj eipen autoij dia thn apistian umwn amhn gar legw umin ean exhte pistin wj kokkon sinapewj ereite tw orei toutw metabhqi enteuqen ekei kai metabhsetai kai ouden adunathsei umin Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
17:21 Hoc autem genus non ejicitur nisi per orationem et jejunium. 17:21 touto de to genoj ouk ekporeuetai ei mh en proseuxh kai nhsteia 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
17:22 Conversantibus autem eis in Galilæa, dixit illis Jesus: Filius hominis tradendus est in manus hominum: 17:22 anastrefomenwn de autwn en th galilaia eipen autoij o ihsouj mellei o uioj tou anqrwpou paradidosqai eij xeiraj anqrwpwn 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
17:23 et occident eum, et tertia die resurget. Et contristati sunt vehementer. 17:23 kai apoktenousin auton kai th trith hmera egerqhsetai kai eluphqhsan sfodra 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
17:24 Et cum venissent Capharnaum, accesserunt qui didrachma accipiebant ad Petrum, et dixerunt ei: Magister vester non solvit didrachma? 17:24 elqontwn de autwn eij kapernaoum proshlqon oi ta didraxma lambanontej tw petrw kai eipon o didaskaloj umwn ou telei ta didraxma 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
17:25 Ait: Etiam. Et cum intrasset in domum, prævenit eum Jesus, dicens: Quid tibi videtur Simon? reges terræ a quibus accipiunt tributum vel censum? a filiis suis, an ab alienis? 17:25 legei nai kai ote eishlqen eij thn oikian proefqasen auton o ihsouj legwn ti soi dokei simwn oi basileij thj ghj apo tinwn lambanousin telh h khnson apo twn uiwn autwn h apo twn allotriwn 17:25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
17:26 Et ille dixit: Ab alienis. Dixit illi Jesus: Ergo liberi sunt filii. 17:26 legei autw o petroj apo twn allotriwn efh autw o ihsouj arage eleuqeroi eisin oi uioi 17:26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
17:27 Ut autem non scandalizemus eos, vade ad mare, et mitte hamum: et eum piscem, qui primus ascenderit, tolle: et aperto ore ejus, invenies staterem: illum sumens, da eis pro me et te. 17:27 ina de mh skandaliswmen autouj poreuqeij eij thn qalassan bale agkistron kai ton anabanta prwton ixqun aron kai anoicaj to stoma autou eurhseij stathra ekeinon labwn doj autoij anti emou kai sou 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
