Matthew 15:1 Tunc accesserunt ad eum ab Jerosolymis scribæ et pharisæi, dicentes: Matthew 15:1 tote proserxontai tw ihsou oi apo ierosolumwn grammateij kai farisaioi legontej Matthew 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
15:2 Quare discipuli tui transgrediuntur traditionem seniorum? non enim lavant manus suas cum panem manducant. 15:2 dia ti oi maqhtai sou parabainousin thn paradosin twn presbuterwn ou gar niptontai taj xeiraj autwn otan arton esqiwsin 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
15:3 Ipse autem respondens ait illis: Quare et vos transgredimini mandatum Dei propter traditionem vestram? Nam Deus dixit: 15:3 o de apokriqeij eipen autoij dia ti kai umeij parabainete thn entolhn tou qeou dia thn paradosin umwn 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
15:4 Honora patrem, et matrem: et, Qui maledixerit patri, vel matri, morte moriatur. 15:4 o gar qeoj eneteilato legwn tima ton patera sou kai thn mhtera kai o kakologwn patera h mhtera qanatw teleutatw 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
15:5 Vos autem dicitis: Quicumque dixerit patri, vel matri: Munus, quodcumque est ex me, tibi proderit: 15:5 umeij de legete oj an eiph tw patri h th mhtri dwron o ean ec emou wfelhqhj 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
15:6 et non honorificavit patrem suum, aut matrem suam: et irritum fecistis mandatum Dei propter traditionem vestram. 15:6 kai ou mh timhsh ton patera autou h thn mhtera autou kai hkurwsate thn entolhn tou qeou dia thn paradosin umwn 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
15:7 Hypocritæ, bene prophetavit de vobis Isaias, dicens: 15:7 upokritai kalwj proefhteusen peri umwn hsaiaj legwn 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
15:8 [Populus hic labiis me honorat: cor autem eorum longe est a me. 15:8 eggizei moi o laoj outoj tw stomati autwn kai toij xeilesin me tima h de kardia autwn porrw apexei ap emou 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
15:9 Sine causa autem colunt me, docentes doctrinas et mandata hominum.] 15:9 mathn de sebontai me didaskontej didaskaliaj entalmata anqrwpwn 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Matthew 15:10 Et convocatis ad se turbis, dixit eis: Audite, et intelligite. Matthew 15:10 kai proskalesamenoj ton oxlon eipen autoij akouete kai suniete Matthew 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
15:11 Non quod intrat in os, coinquinat hominem: sed quod procedit ex ore, hoc coinquinat hominem. 15:11 ou to eiserxomenon eij to stoma koinoi ton anqrwpon alla to ekporeuomenon ek tou stomatoj touto koinoi ton anqrwpon 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
15:12 Tunc accedentes discipuli ejus, dixerunt ei: Scis quia pharisæi audito verbo hoc, scandalizati sunt? 15:12 tote proselqontej oi maqhtai autou eipon autw oidaj oti oi farisaioi akousantej ton logon eskandalisqhsan 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
15:13 At ille respondens ait: Omnis plantatio, quam non plantavit Pater meus cælestis, eradicabitur. 15:13 o de apokriqeij eipen pasa futeia hn ouk efuteusen o pathr mou o ouranioj ekrizwqhsetai 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
15:14 Sinite illos: cæci sunt, et duces cæcorum; cæcus autem si cæco ducatum præstet, ambo in foveam cadunt. 15:14 afete autouj odhgoi eisin tufloi tuflwn tufloj de tuflon ean odhgh amfoteroi eij boqunon pesountai 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15:15 Respondens autem Petrus dixit ei: Edissere nobis parabolam istam. 15:15 apokriqeij de o petroj eipen autw frason hmin thn parabolhn tauthn 15:15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
15:16 At ille dixit: Adhuc et vos sine intellectu estis? 15:16 o de ihsouj eipen akmhn kai umeij asunetoi este 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
15:17 Non intelligitis quia omne quod in os intrat, in ventrem vadit, et in secessum emittitur? 15:17 oupw noeite oti pan to eisporeuomenon eij to stoma eij thn koilian xwrei kai eij afedrwna ekballetai 15:17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
15:18 Quæ autem procedunt de ore, de corde exeunt, et ea coinquinant hominem: 15:18 ta de ekporeuomena ek tou stomatoj ek thj kardiaj ecerxetai kakeina koinoi ton anqrwpon 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
15:19 de corde enim exeunt cogitationes malæ, homicidia, adulteria, fornicationes, furta, falsa testimonia, blasphemiæ: 15:19 ek gar thj kardiaj ecerxontai dialogismoi ponhroi fonoi moixeiai porneiai klopai yeudomarturiai blasfhmiai 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Matthew 15:20 hæc sunt, quæ coinquinant hominem. Non lotis autem manibus manducare, non coinquinat hominem. Matthew 15:20 tauta estin ta koinounta ton anqrwpon to de aniptoij xersin fagein ou koinoi ton anqrwpon Matthew 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
15:21 Et egressus inde Jesus secessit in partes Tyri et Sidonis. 15:21 kai ecelqwn ekeiqen o ihsouj anexwrhsen eij ta merh turou kai sidwnoj 15:21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
15:22 Et ecce mulier chananæa a finibus illis egressa clamavit, dicens ei: Miserere mei, Domine fili David: filia mea male a dæmonio vexatur. 15:22 kai idou gunh xananaia apo twn oriwn ekeinwn ecelqousa ekraugasen autw legousa elehson me kurie uie dabid h qugathr mou kakwj daimonizetai 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
15:23 Qui non respondit ei verbum. Et accedentes discipuli ejus rogabant eum dicentes: Dimitte eam: quia claMatthew post nos. 15:23 o de ouk apekriqh auth logon kai proselqontej oi maqhtai autou hrwtwn auton legontej apoluson authn oti krazei opisqen hmwn 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
15:24 Ipse autem respondens ait: Non sum missus nisi ad oves, quæ perierunt domus Israël. 15:24 o de apokriqeij eipen ouk apestalhn ei mh eij ta probata ta apolwlota oikou israhl 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
15:25 At illa venit, et adoravit eum, dicens: Domine, adjuva me. 15:25 h de elqousa prosekunei autw legousa kurie bohqei moi 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
15:26 Qui respondens ait: Non est bonum sumere panem filiorum, et mittere canibus. 15:26 o de apokriqeij eipen ouk estin kalon labein ton arton twn teknwn kai balein toij kunarioij 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
15:27 At illa dixit: Etiam Domine: nam et catelli edunt de micis quæ cadunt de mensa dominorum suorum. 15:27 h de eipen nai kurie kai gar ta kunaria esqiei apo twn yixiwn twn piptontwn apo thj trapezhj twn kuriwn autwn 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
15:28 Tunc respondens Jesus, ait illi: O mulier, magna est fides tua: fiat tibi sicut vis. Et sanata est filia ejus ex illa hora. 15:28 tote apokriqeij o ihsouj eipen auth w gunai megalh sou h pistij genhqhtw soi wj qeleij kai iaqh h qugathr authj apo thj wraj ekeinhj 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
15:29 Et cum transisset inde Jesus, venit secus mare Galilææ: et ascendens in montem, sedebat ibi. 15:29 kai metabaj ekeiqen o ihsouj hlqen para thn qalassan thj galilaiaj kai anabaj eij to oroj ekaqhto ekei 15:29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
Matthew 15:30 Et accesserunt ad eum turbæ multæ, habentes secum mutos, cæcos, claudos, debiles, et alios multos: et projecerunt eos ad pedes ejus, et curavit eos, Matthew 15:30 kai proshlqon autw oxloi polloi exontej meq eautwn xwlouj tuflouj kwfouj kullouj kai eterouj pollouj kai erriyan autouj para touj podaj tou ihsou kai eqerapeusen autouj Matthew 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
15:31 ita ut turbæ mirarentur, videntes mutos loquentes, claudos ambulantes, cæcos videntes: et magnificabant Deum Israël. 15:31 wste touj oxlouj qaumasai blepontaj kwfouj lalountaj kullouj ugieij xwlouj peripatountaj kai tuflouj blepontaj kai edocasan ton qeon israhl 15:31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
15:32 Jesus autem, convocatis discipulis suis, dixit: Misereor turbæ, quia triduo jam perseverant mecum, et non habent quod manducent: et dimittere eos jejunos nolo, ne deficiant in via. 15:32 o de ihsouj proskalesamenoj touj maqhtaj autou eipen splagxnizomai epi ton oxlon oti hdh hmeraj treij prosmenousin moi kai ouk exousin ti fagwsin kai apolusai autouj nhsteij ou qelw mhpote ekluqwsin en th odw 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
15:33 Et dicunt ei discipuli: Unde ergo nobis in deserto panes tantos, ut saturemus turbam tantam? 15:33 kai legousin autw oi maqhtai autou poqen hmin en erhmia artoi tosoutoi wste xortasai oxlon tosouton 15:33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
15:34 Et ait illis Jesus: Quot habetis panes? At illi dixerunt: Septem, et paucos pisciculos. 15:34 kai legei autoij o ihsouj posouj artouj exete oi de eipon epta kai oliga ixqudia 15:34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
15:35 Et præcepit turbæ ut discumberent super terram. 15:35 kai ekeleusen toij oxloij anapesein epi thn ghn 15:35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
15:36 Et accipiens septem panes, et pisces, et gratias agens, fregit, et dedit discipulis suis, et discipuli dederunt populo. 15:36 kai labwn touj epta artouj kai touj ixquaj euxaristhsaj eklasen kai edwken toij maqhtaij autou oi de maqhtai tw oxlw 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
15:37 Et comederunt omnes, et saturati sunt. Et quod superfuit de fragmentis, tulerunt septem sportas plenas. 15:37 kai efagon pantej kai exortasqhsan kai hran to perisseuon twn klasmatwn epta spuridaj plhreij 15:37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
15:38 Erant autem qui manducaverunt quatuor millia hominum, extra parvulos et mulieres. 15:38 oi de esqiontej hsan tetrakisxilioi andrej xwrij gunaikwn kai paidiwn 15:38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
15:39 Et, dimissa turba, ascendit in naviculam: et venit in fines Magedan. 15:39 kai apolusaj touj oxlouj enebh eij to ploion kai hlqen eij ta oria magdala 15:39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
